    Great info. I have the exact same camper, color and all. I had several issues with mine that I bought new from Camping World. My main door would not stay shut due to them over tightening the screws pulling the aluminum door jamb in too far for the latch to catch. Also, on my slide out the header board was super warped and looking down the edge it turned out like almost 3 inches. Some of the led lights in the strip above the awning didn't work. I found there is not a lot of build quality in these campers and most of the stuff I just fixed myself. The dealer was over 4 hours away and no local place wanted to do the warranty work on it since I did not buy it from them. After the first year I had it most of the stickers on the side and back came off.

    • @HowToRV
      @HowToRV  4 роки тому

      I agree that the build quality is not all there. I am not putting down Forest River but i would expect a little more out of the best selling floor plan. Sounds like you are quite the handy person.

    Great tips.....I am thinking about getting a 26DBH....I know you recommend a 32" TV for living area....can that be put on a swivel arm so that it can be extended out for better viewing angle?

    • @HowToRV
      @HowToRV  3 роки тому

      Steven Goldman that’s a great question. I would imagine that if you wanted to remove the mount that comes with the camper and replace it with a light weight swivel mount, it should be ok. Just need to build in a way that would lock it in place when traveling.

      I did not put one in ours but the wife and i talked about it. Since our doors open and cover the mounting area, i would suggest looking for a tv mount that would extend out far enough for the doors to open behind the tv. since we have not installed a tv, i do not have any information on tv mount. If you are not sure of what to buy, i would have to suggest asking your dealer and having them install it with some kind of warranty.

    Nice video! Good suggestion on using a larger support under the lower bunkbed to open up the storage compartment. I am wondering if you have had a failure with the sealant on the outside molding of the slide. Mine developed a hairline crack in the sealant on the plastic molding and allowed water into the bottom of the slide. I discovered the water leak when I was laying on the ground under the slide and saw water dripping from a small hole in the under-slide plastic liner. Any suggestions on what sealer would be good to use?

    • @HowToRV
      @HowToRV  3 роки тому

      I have not had this issue at all. I am now going to look and see if i am about to have a problem or not. As for sealant, i am not sure of what to use. I will ask around and see if i can find some information to feedback to you.

      @@HowToRV Thanks for the reply. I have a 2016 Grey Wolf 26DBH. My "temporary fix" last year was to some Postage Mailing Tape and seal off the hairline crack. Where to look: follow the side molding of the slide out, down to the bottom. That is where there is a 3-4 inch square piece of plastic. The upper margin of the square and the near margin of the horizontal molding had a hairline crack. After sealing the molding with Postage Tape there was no more leak. So that is where my water leak was coming from. I want to make a more permanent fix.

    • @HowToRV
      @HowToRV  3 роки тому

      They are on the backside of the water heater. I access mine from under the bed on the slide outside of the RV. You can also get to them from the front storage door on the outside but I personally find it hard to crawl in from that direction. You will find 2 valves to turn. When you lift the bed, look in the back where the water heater is and behind a small storage bay divider, you will see the 2 valves. I also did a video on winterizing that may help you. Is a 33 inch TV the biggest that will fit in that space?

    • @HowToRV
      @HowToRV  3 роки тому

      That is a very good question. With ours being a 32" and the amount of room left between the TV and the mantel, I would have to say that you could not go any bigger. That being said though. Different TV manufacturers have the mounting plates on the TVs in different places. If the mounting plate on the back of the TV is closer to the bottom of the television, you might be able to go bigger.

    • @jeffreybryson
      @jeffreybryson 3 роки тому +1

      I can fit a 43" in our 2021 Alpha Wolf 26DBHL that is the same layout, but we have hinged doors and not the pocket doors. So it may be different sized but it looks to be the same. I mounted the tv to a piece of wood to the bracket holes on the tv and then mounted their little bracket screwed into the wood. I suppose you could add an arm in between to turn it but depends on the weight rating of the backing of the wall. Typically, watching tv is sports outside.

    I have a 2018 Gray Wolf...and found some of the same issues. But one of my biggest problems is storage. I cannot lift the bed so cannot get to the storage. The storage under the bunks doesn't open from the inside so cannot get to that either. My bath had to be replaced, and the walls ar so thin I can't hang anything. As I am older and unable to fix these issues myself, it is going to cost me a lot to have them fixed. My advice is don't buy a Forest River.

    • @HowToRV
      @HowToRV  4 роки тому

      I completely understand. Does your bed not lift at all our is it just to heavy? If it is weight, i would recommend looking into hydraulic bed lift kits. As far as storage goes, your right we could use a bit more. My girls always ask for more storage. Even though this TT is an entry RV, I still think that the build quality could be a lot better without having to raise the price point.

    What's difficult is when you find issues like these and you don't have the skill set, know how or tools to even fix it. The other side of difficulty is when the repair folks you call take advantage of the customers lack of knowledge.
    When purchasing a new rig? How do you check all these things you've discovered and taken apart? If you see evidence of issues like the ones you've pointed out, what data do you support your claims as you negotiate the sale price? Or is this type of partial sloppy construction just accepted?

    • @HowToRV
      @HowToRV  2 роки тому

      Most of the time when you are looking to buy an RV, you should most definetly do a thourough walk through and log everything that you find wrong with it. Once you have found all of those items, they should have them fixed before you pick it up. This has been my experience. I would even go a step further and tell the dealer that you want to do the walk through and see the repairs completed before final sale. If the dealer is willing to work with you, then your trust factor goes up when and if you should run into an issue that you would need to bring it back. These are my thoughts. What are yours?

    • @bluefamily3937
      @bluefamily3937 2 роки тому +1

      @@bluefamily3937 that is a great question. I did a ton of UA-cam video watching and searched for common issues that could go wrong in a new RV. There is blogs to read in this topic as well. You are not the first to have those questions either. Just like you, I did not know what to look for and had to do a lot of research. Another method is to see if you have someone around you that you could trust that has experience and can go with you. I have heard of others doing that and was successful. Now that does not mean that you will not run into issues or concerns but it could drastically reduce the amount of problems. I have a few videos on this channel called RV buying tips.
