comparison ; LOW wages vs HIGH wages BUT do what you love. I personally hate big jets and prefer GA, small turbines like Caravans, 408, King Airs I think a mechanic should work on something he may end up flying one day ! NOT these big POS
I went through A&P school in 1975 and at the time many people were getting out of the military with solid helicopter and jet experience and jobs were hard to find. My goal was to work at the planned UPS maintenance hub in my home town. The hub kept getting delayed and because of a wife and kids I went in a different career direction. My roommate from A&P school finally got on at the UPS hub and made really good money. That said I very disappointed with the way wages turned out for most A&P's and glad I moved on to another career path.
Hey Bryce, I’m actually thinking about doing the partnership, I’ve been talking to my coworker about this, it is important to have someone you can trust and also have clear all the conditions. Yesterday I got my 8610-1, so in couple days I expect to have my IA, and then try my first Annual. I need to do my research about costs of how much they charge in Colorado area. I work at a FBO but I need to start my own business and split my time till my business is profitable enough. Thank you for your videos. I try not to miss any
You wont be able to work days in the airlines for several years. But can easily get day shifts at MRO's, Or repair stations. like Boeing , standard aero ect.
Depends on what you are doing. I know a few guys who do it on the side, and they often call me when the owner needs a 337 or an annual. There is a ton of work to be done that does not require an IA. I think if you already have your A&P then every penny is an extra penny
What are the highest paying types of aircraft mechanics? Im thinking of working major airline because I know they pay well and some employers offer free or heavily discounted flights
WHATEVER YOU DO, DO NOT go to work for AMERICAN Their mechanics have the worst reputation in the industry for being lazy and useless IF you put you worked for them on your resume, NOBODY will EVER hire you. KISS OF DEATH. So many options out there ; working on ; Crop dusting airplanes Banner towing airplanes, usually taildraggers Skydiving airplanes Fire fighting airplanes, mostly in the NW FEDEX feeder airplanes ; Caravans + 408's UPS pay big $$ Flight school airplanes Grand Canyon sightseeing companies F-35's - Lockheed Martin Places you never thought of : NASCAR DISNEY, Busch Gardens ride mechanic CITY GOVT's who have airplanes ; Sherrifs dept, Fish and Wildlife, TV stations aviation dept (helos) DO something where you are dying to go to work EVERY DAY !
Interesting strategy on partnering with a qualified person, but I do think the IA is worth something on the books. Renewal, exposure to litigation, the test was ridiculous, the IA has value. After all, to return Aircraft to service after any Major or Annual inspection (short list, plenty more), the Inspection Authorization is required. If its not Major, its minor...big difference ; )
Bryce ... Hey amigo ... I liked your Crop Duster t-shirt ! I often thought that would be a really cool job BUT handling toxic chemicals killed that idea ! What size t-shirt you wear ? Do you prefer white or grey or black ? Ever heard of a guy named Alberto Santos Dumont ? A Brasilian who moved to France and built various first aero craft. 👍🏼thanks, this is great content for someone just entering the field, much appreciated.
Hey Bryce, do you think you could make a video one day on General Aviation versus Major Airlines as a career choice? Pllsss!!!

If I'm only interested in strictly working day shift, should I even consider this as a field to go into? Or would that just decrease my options?

Is it worth to go into business for yourself without having your IA at first?

Airlines pay the best overall, you can find higher pay but they are more niche, like a DOM for a private company-one man show kinda deal
I second that airline is the highest pay
