One of the most dominant periods I've seen. The whole game the Avs were dominant, but that first period was in their offensive zone for all but maybe one shift.
I really think that this Avs team is more playoffs ready than with Rantanen. They still have the firepower they need + got better defensively. Drury made his line 10x better and Necas (or so it seems to me) sped up the first line even more and Mack always has someone with him in the O-zone even with his afterburners turned on.
They really needed a showing like this to get their confidence back and get some good vibes going after saying goodbye to Moose. We all knew they would be capable of this again soon. Go Avs!
As a fellow avs fan I honestly haven't seen our team play that hard since last seasons playoffs against Winnipeg lol I don't think it has anything to do with the blues or not. If we can play to that level of determination then I really don't see a team beating us unless we just have flat out bad puck luck.
I am impressed with the chemistry between Necas and McKinnon already. I knew Necas was a good player. But, he has speed more than I realized! This is looking like it could be a good trade......
Atta boy Marty! The Powerplay looked like it should, all around better effort, spacing and communication on defense was great and so was Mackwood with the shutout. Let's Go Avalanche! WOOT WOOT!
People were underestimating Necas on the day of the trade, I started watching Marty a bit closer after the world championships last summer. The first game of Czechia I watched I started asking "who the hell is this guy?". He was just insane, easily the best on that Championship roster each game. Avs fans will quickly forget about Mikko thanks to him. I still think he's only going to get better
As the Canes fan: You'll see the reality very soon (there was a reason why Necas was dropped to the 3rd line quite often. Necas plays few good games and then he disappears - Especially in the playoffs). Rantanen has scored 3 hattricks in the first half of this season and is one of the best power forwards in the league (he does a lot more than just scoring). Save this comment and tell me how it went after this season ended (you'll see the same as we did).
@Niko-zu7mj well that's the thing, he didn't benefit having a nathan mackinnon and cale makar and other offense weapons like colorado has in Carolina, I guarantee you he can open his game up more. I bet you Mikko will disappear more not benefiting from having offensive power like that more than martin will actually. And mikko was never a power house in the playoffs, during the stanley cup cale won the conn smythe for a reason him and Nate generate all of the avs fire power. So good luck with mikko.
@@ryanwesterkamp8958 exactly they had pumped first shift in avs, as in raleigh they didnt. Nečas is a great ass player, such a humble and hard working dude, played him in juniors hockey as a youngster he was such a great handler with the puch as well as having speed, he will prospect from having an 2 star players next to him
@@ryanwesterkamp8958 Rantanen has scored 1.25 points in the playoffs and you say he hasn't been a powerhouse in the playoffs? Maybe you should check how "well" Necas has played in the playoffs. MacKinnon got a lot of benefits for playing with Makar and Rantanen (MacKinnon has scored 0 goals since Mikko left and got assists because Makar is an awesome goal scorer). Do you really say MacKinnon would be this effective without decent mates? LMAO. Mikko Rantanen is much more than just a scorer, he's one of the best power forwards in the league who uses his size very effectively. I've watched every single game from the Canes and I've seen how Necas plays few good games and then he disappear (there was a reason why he played in the 3rd line a lot)
An avid avs fan here. I'm happy about the trade. I was tired of yelling at the tv about mikko. He's a 1 dimensional player. 97% of the time, he scores from the same spot, which is a 1 timer from Nate or any other player willing to pass to him. He doesn't play defense, he falls down every time he gets touched, he very rarely creates his own scoring opportunities. This team needs 2nd and 3rd line depth. They don't have that with mikko. Now we do. With maker coming to the end of his contract, I would listen to anyone who would rather keep mikko than cale? Straight up plain and simple. Cale over mikko.
Like MacKinnon has said: Mikko was one of the main reasons why the Avs won the cup in the first place (more than a point per game in playoffs too). He also carried the team while MacKinnon was injured. Mikko is one of the best power forwards in the league. If people really forgets all this: Then I'm happy Mikko left because he doesn't deserve this kind of disrespect.
The first couple of days was pure emotion from other fans, but if you really look back on it, Mikko was looking bored. He was playing slow lazy hockey, constantly losing the puck, getting pushed over, whiffing shots, he had no sense of urgency at all. He kept waiting for his perfect shot and would force passes if he couldn’t shoot. The contract situation was definitely hanging over his head, but the guy was pretty on the stat sheet and painful to watch. Then after he got traded said he was “willing to lower his price” like he didn’t have months to bring that up to the management and his agent. Just taking a jab at the front office and trying to make emotional Avs fans hate the front office.
@@Maria_Banks Rantanen has already scored 3 hattricks in the first HALF of this season and is 6th in the league /points. Rantanen has also been noticed for being one of the best power forwards in this very season. At first, I was sad Rantanen was gone but now I'm very happy (disrespect towards Rantanen has been very odd).
Mck and Necas played +20min, and Lehkonen +21min. Makar, 22min. That is lot of ice time to top players in game that was 4-0 after 1st. And with that time McK 0+1 and Necas 1+0. Fatigue kills speed so you might think about that..

The whole arena gave Necas a standing ovation! Welcome to Colorado, Marty!
Marty and Drury look good y'all. we tightened up on defense and here's the results.
Let's Go Avs!

Necas = Speed
What a ridiculous 1st period. Absolute domination by the Avs.

Yeah, as a Blues fan I will tell you that they totally do not have it this year...
Blues absolutely cooked
Necas and Mack together isn’t even fair.
Indeed but we love it

Time to get a Necas jersey

That was probably the best game of hockey I have seen the Avs play in a while. I'll take 2/4 on the PP

He pronounced it Nechus instead of Naychus

The Marty Necas has as much speed as MacKinnon and can score if Jack Drury can play as good as Chris Drury the trade will be a win
