Fun (It’s really not) Fact: A Korean Air 747 almost got shot down over Alaska on the same day after a pilot error that led to the military thinking the plane was being hijacked. The plane managed to land safely, diverting to Yukon, Canada. However, it was closely escorted by military jets.

Reason these Aircraft were selected was because though different in overall construction, they shared the same flight deck and controls. If you were type rated on one of them, you were often type rated to fly both.

For example the planes hit the buildings perfectly. You would expect a wobbly or something. The president was as far away from Tce Capitol as possible and no terrorists chickend out. I don't want to go down the rabbits hole but it; I mean the attack went too smoothly.

Vastly more eye-catching and beautiful compared to today's aircraft. Even Braniff had a more creative and interesting style than what we have now. It's all a matter of taste. Thank you.

I worked in Roslyn VA and my office window overlooked the Pentagon and DC. I "felt" the rumble of the plane crash into the Pentagon, turned around in my chair, and witnessed the horror of the fire and smoke and eventual fire and police and people running from the building. That was a horrible thing to witness. I left the building around 1 p.m and it took me 3 hours to get home by car (normally it took 1 hour). Everyone in my office was convinced there would be more planes, and there almost was as the Pennsylvania plane was destined for the Capital or White House.

It’s so difficult to say for certain, but based on the trajectory, the plane that hit the Pentagon seems likely to have been targeting the White House. The Pentagon and White House are on the same line, but the White House is small and hard to see from the air. It would make sense that the Pentagon was a secondary target. But, if that plane was targeted at the White House, then Flight 93 would have likely targeted the Capitol. It’s like Al-Qaida wanted the New York attacks to be as deadly as possible and the Washington attacks to be a decapitation event.

Michael Jackson had an appointment at the top of one the WTC towers that morning. Ms. Jackson his mother talked to him for a long time the night before; Making Michael late for his appointment the next day. Flight 11 Mark Wahlberg was supposed to be on that plane! He canceled his September 10th. Brian Littrell wife (Backstreet boys) was also supposed to be on that flight but canceled it the day before as well, instead they went to Toronto for the film festival. Seth Macfarlane the creator of Family guy was late to Flight 11 that morning, he thanked his hangover for that! The bartender gave Seth a drink after they all were witnessing flight 11 crashing into the North Tower on the TV. This is exactly why when I’m late to work I don’t really care because you don’t know if you could’ve saved yourself and being late was worth it! I was five years old during September 11th and I sure can remember everything I seen that day! This will always be one of the saddest events to ever unfold in this country! The sad thing about all this is the FAA and all airlines were advised in 1995 that future hijackings would most likely be used as missiles. This was determined after a failed hijacking in Paris that was planned to fly the aircraft into the Eiffel tower. Air France Flight 8969 was an Air France flight that was hijacked on 24 December 1994 by the Armed Islamic Group of Algeria (GIA) at Houari Boumediene Airport, Algiers. The terrorists murdered three passengers and their intention was either to blow up the plane over the Eiffel Tower in Paris or crash the plane into it.
The FAA failed miserably to address this as did the FBI after warning everyone this was going to be the future of hijacking! The FBI failed miserably after a warning that two suspected terrorist were entering into the US and ignoring warnings from aviation training centers about students that seemed very suspicious!

Another reason they chose Boeing is because you can put it in any orientation you want(upside down ect.)
A airbus wont let you roll the plane or push it down

It's staggering to consider the resultant casualties when you include the aftermath of the subsequent war in Afghanistan. Those four crashes really are the 21st century's version of Princip's hand grenade. Another thing I took from this was the insane amount of damage an airliner a wide-body aircraft can inflict if used as a weapon. The two 767s to strike the WTC, based on estimates from Professor Eduardo Kausel at MIT and the FBI respectively, were 429-494 mph (370-430kts) for American 11 and 537-586 mph (470-500kts) for United 175.
The much higher energy of United 175 caused the South Tower to fall within 15 minutes, as opposed to The North Tower's 102 minutes. However, it's likely that with so much excess speed, UA175 was even harder to control as turning radius (or any manoeuvring at all really, at that speed) would be much more difficult. Perhaps this is why UA175 had a slight left bank angle at impact, for fear of missing its target. Speaking of energy, "Even at a speed of only about [500 mph/434kts], a partly loaded Boeing 767 weighing 132 tons would have created about three billion joules of energy at impact, the equivalent of three- quarters of a ton of T.N.T, according to another team of researchers at MIT'.

And there is a 0% chance those planes can go that fast at sea level.
You assume they can because it's the top speed at 35k feet. So thus you assume it's natural they go the same speed at any elevation.
      Planes don't work that way.
Engines move the plane by pushing air thru. At 35k feet the air density is 6x less than at sea level. To move 550 mph at sea level means the engine has yo push 6x more air to generate the same thrust forward that they can at 35k feet. It was at sea level where the planes hit.
Well the engines can't push out 6x more air at max speed. Not remotely close. The engines would fail!
And if by some chance the engines on these planes were switched, the structure of the plane couldn't handle the turbulence. And it would literally fall apart mid air.
Lastly I love how you pretend the energy delivered is just so.
To make a weapon with energy like the planes were used you need to have the weapon constructed of the correct material. Hypersonic missiles aren't constructed using the same material as a patriot missile.
If they were, they wouldn't reach the speed of mach 10 as hypersonic do.
Those planes are easily destroyed by a bird! Or hail! They would buckle upon hitting the buildings. They would not penetrate.
      Material matters.
Your calculation pretends it does not.
      Engine design matters.
Your calculation pretends it does not.
Those towers were built to take on such a collision. Except they were designed to take on the plane going 250 to 300 mph. Which is what the plane could do in a fall.
But those planes went 2x as fast. Impossible. They can't do it.

@@darwinstubbie860Absolutely not. The Vne of any aircraft is massively conservative and is only the theoretical maximum speed (with a margin on top of that) where no damage will be done to even the weakest expected example of a particular plane. The Hijackers don't care about shortening the service life, and they don't care if damage is done during the dive. They're aiming at the WTC and putting the thrust levers to the firewall. China Airlines flight 006 nearly broke the sound barrier and still landed despite serious damage, so expecting a 767 to fall apart above Vne doesn't exactly make sense...
