This equipment is so similar to the ifootage equipment: Cobra 3 monopod, their extension pole, mini tripod, quick release plate, and Seastars Q15 release plates. The tripod however is more like Sachtler Tripod Speed Lock CF HD, or SIRUI SVT75Lite. What is different is the added RS2 and RS3 adaptable plate.
clever system indeed. With the different ways of stabilization we have now, i have not used a tripod for my last several shoots. Handheld makes the video more interesting too.
I have the smallrig freeblazer and that head is exactly the same but with different brading. Were they both made by the same chinese manufacturer and then sold to different brands?
Been doing a lot of detail research on both the ifootage and this YC onion monopods. Coming from a background from shooting in international commercial studios and as a key grip in the motion picture industry where gears are built to last. The concern I have is 1) long term durability of this quick release mechanism squeezed into such a narrow single tube. How does it function mechanically and whether the metal they use within are of reasonable quality. 2) the spring loaded 3/8 -16 adapter screw is actually a sleeve nut over a 1/4-20 screw. With a spring within. So when you mount a ronin gimbal or relatively heavy camera setup (yes, I know 8kg payload) and do the crane overhead shot, the load is offset to one side instead of a vertical load. This really stress the sleeve nut on the 3/8-16. It can crack suddenly and your whole camera setup to crash to the ground. I rather they do it the old fashion way where you have a solid bolt with one end with 3/8-16 and 1/4-20 thread on the other made with 316 stainless steel. So you just unscrew, reverse and screw it in. Much safer. 3) the angle of the 3 legs spreads out almost totally flat to the horizontal axis, unless you really have a very flat ground, the centre monopod rubber knob can actually touch the ground first thus leaving the 3 legs dangling off the ground, making them useless. Yes, you can adjust the angle of the 3 legs higher but that means smaller footprint in diameter, compromising on stability.
How do you think this compares to the new SmallRig AD-100 FreeBlazer? Granted that one doesn’t have the monopod option. Additionally what do you think about the Chronicle tripod by Promaster? It’s similar to this with a monopod option, but doesn’t have the same type of head.
I had ordered one that wasn't even delivered yet and while at the show in Vegas they were going to sell me a used one on the spot for 50 percent off. I was truthful and told me I had one on order that I would just return (unopened), then they were like, oh we cant sell you this one for a discount because you ordered one and will return it. WTH. So yea, customer service is TERRIBLE. Who does business like that??? I ended up returning the new one I ordered as well! No thanks!!!
@@BrandonLiUnscripted yea that's true. The YC Onion does have a release retraction especially useful for the tripod. A long with the easy carry handle. Ifootage does have the cobra strike monopod with single twist for fast deployment. But they don't have anything like that for their tripod. YC Onion is better for that.
I have the Monopod and will get the tripod when the aluminium one is back in stock (I also have their motorised slider) however they need to offer a better tripod bag, I currently have a Ifootage and Manfrotto tripod and both have good quality padded bags, this YC Onion one looks cheap and tacky in comparison especially as its not exactly a budget tripod
There's no movement with tripods? That's news to me. Is a tripod a glorified stand then? Ever here of panning, tilting? And did you miss the part where he threw a gimbal on the monopod? He's been doing that for years.
Sorry I’m still a child in my head, but I almost spit my coffee when I read nut quick release 😂
Hahahahaha

Been using YC Onions mini slider for years, quality product so i'm not surprised they came out with this.
Saw the green and white bag of my favorite camera store in the tripod bag!!!
Whoa, I didn't even realize YC Onion made tripods/monopods. It looks awesome! Great review, brotha 👊🏼
They’ve been working on this one for a while. Hopefully the first of many
Definitely going to have to pick it up. I've been in need of a new tripod for awhile.@@BrandonLiUnscripted

Brandon where are you at? This patio looks so relaxing. Great video as usual.
Already purchased a Pineta monopod after seeing your last video!
That was plenty, and in clear example, to help me decide if I want one or not. Thanks.

Love this stuff, now time to click the link to see how much I need to shell out…
My man
Cool!✌️
Hi Brandon, what nd filter are you using in this video?
Wish they had a smaller version
I’ve got the pineta monopod too but the only gripe I have about it is the feet seems abit lacking.
How well would this or the new pro be with a full rs4 pro with fx6
Any idea when this will reach Amazon UK so I can buy one ?

What kind of gimbal did you use?
❤❤❤

Can not find the extension on their website anyone any clue where they sell it?
The monopod is similar to the iFootage Cobra Monopod; I love mine.
Yea they are very similar. I have one too.
Difference is speed of extension/retraction.

@@BrandonLiUnscriptedone pro of the ifootage is the foot release and auto centering, would be nice to have them both in one
If they make a Travel tripod version of this it would be amazing
Agreed. Need a smaller version for travelers
That tripod looks overkill for your 1 camera and lens setup.

Isn't this far to big and heavy for your style of movie making? It looks like a great product none the less.
Looks like New York
As expensive as a good manual lens
设计挺好,但是太重了!一个缺点掩盖了所有的优点,不买,等打孔设计。
is this strong enough for a blackmagic 6k pro rigged?
Bro this thing is a big heavy beast. It's plenty strong enough.
@@Nickporter17 cool thanks.
A whopping 3.5 kg in weight!!! Video tripods😔
They do need to make a travel version
$700
He is a gimbal guy, always advertising how each shot needs some movement. Now, he is promoting a tripod?
