    Hey team I also want to mention another flaw that we have found, the thread on the head is a 3/8 but the industry standard is m10 for tripod head threads they are very similar but not the same and this has caused compatibility issues with products that are meant to be able to use 75mm heads.

    Great video. I had nothing but trouble from the start with the SmallRig FreezBlazer AD-100. First, a leg split at the rivet and while loose, a plastic gear at the tension handle fell out and was lost. I asked SmallRig if I could purchase a gear. The customer service rep said she'd get the technical team to answer. I asked twice - no answer. I had new gears CNC'd from aluminum and when I reassmbled the tripod, one of the metal plates that hold the works onto the leg simply broke. Too much money, many hours and a sh*tload of effort later, I gave up and pulled the expensive trigger on the Sachtler FlowTech 75 and activ8 head combo that I wanted in the first place. Of all the Millers, Sachtlers and Bogen/Manfrottos I've used over nearly 40 years of using tripods, I've never had problem with any of them.
    I DO NOT RECOMMEND SMALLRIG CARBON FIBER TRIPODS.

      manfrotto are crap nowadays. Plastic elements, always sticking parts, heavy, the head is cracking and finally it is broken now (.

      @@madgeorge2236 Manfrotto has never been in the same league as Miller or Sachtler video tripods, I’ve beat the crap out of my photo tripods, taking them on hikes, using them as walking sticks sinking the legs in sand and saltwater at the beach. I will say my only Manfrotto video tripod is too lightweight and I agree with you about plastic parts, the tripod feels flimsy.

    Wow I have been wondering about all of these tripods!
    I use small cameras so I think I’m still going to go with the YC onion.

      Yeah the YC Onion seems like a good middle ground, although I’d grab only the legs and probably the Sirui head

    I own the Pineta Peak by YC Onion and I’m like “is he talking about the same tripod?” This tripod for us is pretty stable. I use a different fluid head though but as for as stability is concerned it’s doing a really good job. Love the review though and the fact that we have awesome Sachtler alternatives is a goooood thing.

      Hey Marcus, thanks for the comment! I think maybe we were a little bit harsh with our language, but it’s mostly from a point of comparison to the other two. Especially given the price point, we found the small rig more stable, which was a shame.
      It’s still a good tripod

      @marcusrfilms which fluid head do you use and why not the original that came with the YC?

      @@bladerealm124 I use the T6 by SCG and it’s simply because it’s a better fluid head.

      @@MarcusRFilms can the ball be easily removed from the T6 and flat mounted to something like the Peak Design travel tripod (with universal adapter)? I'm looking for a great quality fluid head under $1000 that can be flat mounted to a normal (compact) tripod like my Peak Design.

    The exact video I was looking for! ahh I wanted the YC Onion but it doesn't seem stable enough which is important if you want cinematic footage, you are not the first to mention that its abit wobbly which indicates to me that it is, I have the monopod and even that has some rattles to it, plus oddly its a good £200 more then the Sirui, we need version 2s of all of these already

    • @jkchekpo
      @jkchekpo 3 місяці тому

      Mine is sturdy. At full extension it's a bit wobbly but moving the legs slightly outwards after it's set solves that problem. The weight difference is so massive with the sirui they almost shouldn't be comparent in the same category. Plus the patch system is a pain in the ass to use. My setup is with the komodo k7 and my rig is around 5kg with 7inch smallHD monitor.

    Great video! I just wish reviewers would use pounds instead of kilograms. I'm constantly converting the weight with Siri when watching these reviews. Very tedious. But thanks for the vid.

    Great analysis. Buying a tripod right now is pretty frustrating, the curse of options lol. Wish some of these companies would focus less on bells and whistles(like the feet) and just make an affordable rigid tripod. Feels like your options are industry proven Sachtler or finicky tripods with a lot of caveats.
