- Can a cheap Turkish made shotgun be seriously considered for a home defense system? This video aims to answer that question by taking a look at the RIA VRPA40.
This is my first gun and I love it. BTW, great video. I'm glad you didn't overproduce it like others. No long intros with slick music and ads, etc... Thank you.
Hey thanks man! Glad you liked it and glad you picked up one of these shotties. It's a great gun ✌️
I like how the cows are totally unphased by the shots. One looks up before sauntering of as if to say "Hooman boom'ing again"
Lol right? They don't seem to mind
I got an 870 DM and ordered 3 extra mags at the same time. I was looking at the Mossberg, but the single stack mages can be jammed in a pants pocket while the double stack can't. That was before Rock Island came out with this one.
You were smart to get extra mags for the 870 DM while you could. I still love my DM but just treat it like a tube fed shotgun, once it's out it's out. No tactical reloads. But yeah, this VRPA40 was a game changer. Funny that 870 DM mags are currently going for the same price of the entire VRPA40, if you can find them. Also the 870 DM mags look sooooo much cleaner than those bulky Mossberg mag. Thanks for watching ✌️
Nice. I might consider this. I’m glad this is CA compliant.
Sorry you have to abide by the roster.
That Duran Duran part was actually funny.
Lol thanks. It was a bit rainy that day ✌️
too funny
I have figured out what is wrong. When you cycle the forearm you don’t keep a little forward pressure to get it to lock up and then you relax and it is allowed to back off a little. Because of that the bolt is not close enough for the firing pin to strike the primer and you get a click. So keep a little forward pressure and I think you will be happy. Good luck and God bless.
one of the best videos on this gun on the internet.
can you do one shooting slugs?
Thank you so much, I really appreciate it! I could probably do a little video on shooting slugs. I did shoot slugs off camera to sight it in and it had decent accuracy at 50 yards.
RealZ nice 40 👍 hope to have one soon in 🇨🇦
Thanks my Canadian friend! You won't regret it ✌️
@@AmattEUR Just found out this morning, RIA is reworking something on the 40, won’t have inventory in CANADA for a while. But I have found the Bear Arms As46 which is very very similar + it has spring assist 👍 these will be in CANADA Oct - Nov. 👍🇨🇦 Cheer’s have a great long weekend.
Interesting. I haven't seen those before but looks nice. Hope it works out for you. You have a nice weekend too! Unfortunately I'm working labor day but at least it's good overtime that I'll probably put towards my next gun purchase lol
Fun video. 👍🏼👏🏼
Have you looked into or tried or even done, replacing the forend with one with built-in light?
Or perhaps with a Magpul forend, which then gives mlok slots to mount whatever lights?
Thanks! I haven't looked into any replacement forends because I like to keep this shotgun simplified. I do have another shotgun I'd consider my main one, a Remington 870DM that does have the Magpul forend with a light attached. I'm not sure there's any aftermarket compatibility with this RIA VRPA40 though, but let me know if you come across anything ✌️
I need a drum like that for my vrpf14 😂 great shotguns IMO, I'm going to buy more soon
YES! That thing with a drum would be awesome
@AmattEUR can you tell me what drum that is? Maybe it wold fit my TAR12 as well 🤔
That's the promag which has been working great so far. Here's a link www.classicfirearms.com/promag-mka-a1-20rd-drum-mka1919/
@AmattEUR FML....promag has never worked for me...I have a few promag FNX-45 mags that won't shoot hollowpoints...so I don't trust them....hmmmm I'll have to think it over, at least I know it's working for you
I hear that, lots of people have had issues with promag but they're kind of the only ones making the drum for the MK1919 style mags. The drum has been flawless though out of this shotgun
I have had trouble with mine firing one out of five rounds. I can’t figure out what the problem is. I have tried several different rounds with the same result. I don’t know if I got the only lemon or what or if this is just part of the breakin. It seems to have a lot of spring pressure from the magazine which makes it difficult to cycle. With all that I still like my shotgun I just would like to figure it out.
Is it having trouble loading from the magazine or ejecting? Could be part of the break in but since it's a pump there really shouldn't be any break in. I don't think I had a break in. If the problem continues you could try contacting the manufacturer, if I recall they have a pretty good warranty.
I was lucky go get one of these and I wanted to ask you about your flashlight set up. How do I achieve what you have there?
It took a little messing around with but nothing too complicated. Basically I attached a small mlok picatinny rail to the slots of the heat shield. Make sure you loctite the screws to hold up to 12ga recoil. Thanks for asking ✌️
can you magazine that comes with the gun load both 2.75 and 3 inch rounds?
Yes sir. I think I fire some 3" slugs towards the end of the video
Gotta get that drum mag baby! And the rediculous 19rnd stick mag.
Haha ya that 19rd stick looks hilarious
Where did you get the light attachment?
I took the rail section from my sks gas tube mount but something like this should work with the slotted sections www.amazon.com/HWZ-Slotted-PLASTIC-Polymer-Picatinny/dp/B075TY31HZ/ref=mp_s_a_1_18?crid=1DK1Z0O7G662Y&keywords=picatinny+rail+slotted&qid=1676051581&sprefix=picatinny+rail+slotted%2Caps%2C765&sr=8-18
This maybe the only mag fed shotgun legally allowed in New York.
There's a bunch of these Turkish made shotguns that may qualify
I've been thinking about getting one of these as a budget gun do you still like it
I do. It's a great one to toss around and not worry about banging it up. Chag Sameach!
@@AmattEUR ok cool I am also interested in the panzer m4 as well thanks for answering me
Have you shot any low brass, I've been seeing reports of them not ejecting due to a strange fitment issue ?
Researching...
I appreciate your time spent in responding, thanks
Hey Soli. I haven't had any ejection issues with low brass from various manufacturers. I shot 50+ rounds of low brass in the video and didn't have any real issues at all. It was a little stiff at first but loosened up after the first few mags. Thanks for asking ✌️
Oh so the flashlight was improvised in other words… I’m having 2nd thoughts now.
It wasn't hard to attach the light but if you aren't comfortable doing it I'd probably recommend a different shogun. Maybe something like a mossberg 500/maverick 88 or Remington 870 which already have a large aftermarket to choose from.
@@AmattEUR Right. I think I’m leaning more towards Mossberg. A shotgun under $600 is what I’d get.
Why not a barrel mounted light?
That's a great question I forgot to address in the video. In my experience barrel mounts tend to shift under 12ga recoil unless tightened down very well to where they can sometimes damage/mar up the barrel or up against the mag tube which makes takedown more difficult. Plus, aesthetically, in my opinion, I think barrel mounts look trashy. Thanks for asking that ✌️
update?
She's still rockin and rollin
About to purchase one here in the Bahamas. Love your videos. Planning on putting a scope, slotted picatinny rail on the heat guard, tactical feyachi flashlight on it. Its gonna be bad ass. Keep more updates on the vrpa 40 coming brother .
Good review...get you a speed loader from Ag3 munitions....or A3g...its one of them..i cant remember
Thanks, I appreciate that! And I checked out the A3G loaders, pretty cool, didn't know those existed 👍
@@AmattEUR what was that gun you showed on the review?...im try to decide what to get....vrp40, or ria all generation pump.i got the vr82 and Shockwave and a stoger double defense. A good lever action would be a nice addition....but i like the vrp40 just for the drum...lol...
@@boss94ways51 that lever action is the black aces tactical pro series L. It's awesome, highly recommended
I own one and I have a light on mine with a laser
Nice. Where did you mount it?
On the rail with an angle mount and it’s out of the way of the sights. Works great
Put a tactical stock on mine, shortened it up a bit.
It's a long bastard...
Haha you're right about that. That's a good idea 👍
