  • This video describes how an abandoned water supply infrastructure scheme in Balkassar Village in Pakistan's Chakwal District became an efficient, viable commercial operation. UNICEF sanctioned the original scheme in 1983, and the Public Health Engineering department ran is successfully for four years, but then various planning and designing flaws led to the scheme's failure. Today, the new operation not only offers continuous, 100-percent metered water to households in Balkassar and seven other nearby villages, it has also engaged in technology transfer to similar projects throughout the region.
