    There is a further element in Dumbledore's "manipulation" of Harry and his circumstances that remains an open and problematic question.
    As the only person to hear the Prophesy in full, from before Harry's birth, Dumbledore was aware of Harry's POTENTIAL importance.
    Dumbledore, from both his previous experiences with Ariana and with Credence was also aware that young magical people could be turned into Obscurials if they experienced abuse.
    Yet, despite this knowledge, Dumbledore left Harry with the Dursleys, KNOWING they would abuse him. He says as much when he finally confronted the Dursleys at the beginning of Half Blood Prince.
    Why did he risk Harry turning into an Obscurial, when he also knew that Harry was the ONLY one, by that stage, with the Power to end Voldemort finally?

    If Dumbledore wanted to free Sirius, could he? He wasn't a witness, nor did he have anyone who could back up Sirius. The only witness was Fudge, and from his perspective, ot seemed like Sirius was guilty. Nobody except the marauders knew Peter was an animagus. Nobody knew Sirius had passed the knowledge onto Pettigrew, and since there was no trial, so Sirius had no opportunity to defend himself before being locked away. Besides, how could Dumbeldore read Surius's mind pr extract memories if Sirius is in Azkaban. He would have to break in just to get close enough. Plus, Dumbledore's authority was limited to the school and the Order of the Phoenix. Plus, Dumbledore is good at reading people, and given how stubborn Fudge is, he knew it would be hard to convince him without being accused. Fudge didn't even accept Voldemort's return without seeing it himself despite all the evidence. Fudge had the power to send in aurors to investigate, but he didn't. By the time they were able to actually contact Sirius, Dumbledore was accused of conspiring against Fudge. It wasn't about whether or not Dumbledore wanted to help Sirius, it was about having opportunities to do so. Dumbledore is merely a school headmaster, not an all knowing being.

      When it came to Sirius's case, everyone had every reason to believe Sirius was the traitor. Evidence wise, Sirius seemed like the only possibile culprit.

      @@williamfincher2260 EXACTLY! Dumbledore had offered to be their Secret Keeper but they were gonna make Sirius but he convinced James and Lily to actually make Peter Pettigrew their Secret Keeper and HE betrayed them then yelled to get the juggles attention then while transforming to his Animagus form, he blew up the block so it looked like Sirius had gone crazy and he spent 13 years in Azkaban because of the betrayal

    A couple of things here.
    Firstly, the magical world has Veritaserum (under the influence of which "the Dark Lord himself would spill his deepest secrets") and it could have used it on Sirius Black, in order to discover what had occurred, but apparently, no one even thought to do that.
    Secondly, we know that the magical world also has Legilimency and that under the "questioning" of a qualified Legilimens, it is incredibly difficult to hide ones true feelings.
    But more importantly, we know that Dumbledore had what he considered pressing reasons to take Harry's Godfather out of circulation - because Dumbledore wanted Harry to be abused by the Dursleys....
    So, did Dumbledore, who let us remember tried to clear Hepzibah Smith's House Elf and Morfin Gaunt, REALLY believe that Sirius was guilty OR did he WANT to believe (or really not care) in Sirius's guilt?

    • @SlimGod26
      @SlimGod26 3 місяці тому

      No, Veritaserum wouldn't work because literally everyone thought he was guilty and outta his mind
      Legilimency wouldn't have worked either because like I said, EVERYONE thought Sirius was outta his mind and maybe he was after his best friend died due to the betrayal from another best friend
      The books tell us that Dumbledore REALLY DID believe Sirius was guilty and had gone mad

      @@SlimGod26 Yes Vitaserum would have worked because under Vitaserum, "the Dark Lord would spill his darkest secrets". The Wizzengamont (Chief Warlock Albus Dumbledore) CHOSE to belive Sirius Black was guilty and made no objection when he was sent to Azkhaban without a trial...

    You were WAY off at 19:41, you said Dumbledore was the keeper but the 3rd book told us that originally they were gonna have Sirius be the Secret Keeper because he was such good friends with James BUT Sirius convinced them to switch to PETER PETTIGREW at the last second. Album was in no way apart of this. After the attack Sirius gave Hagrid his flying motorbike so he could get Harry to Dumbledore quicker sayinghe didn't need it anymore.

    Dumbledore is one of the most overly canonized characters ever. Same with Snape. If Harry declared bloody feuds against people who screwed up his life rhe most it would be 1. Dumbledore 2. Snape 3. Voldemort 4. Peter Pettigrew. And the last two could arguably be switched.

    Interesting topic. But narration needs work. Too many points are repeated and even whole senescens are looped.

    If Sirius was Harry’s godfather and in the order, seems a massive plot hole for Dumbledore to never visit Sirius in Azkaban to ask him why he did it? With a bit of legilimens work he could have saved 13 years of turmoil, and possibly found Peter Pettigrew sooner and avoided the resurrection of Voldemort until Dumbledore found and destroyed all the Horcruxes.

    • @SlimGod26
      @SlimGod26 3 місяці тому

      No because even Dumbledore believed Sirius was gently and in the Prisoner of Azkaban, everytime they talked about Sirius, they said he was outta his mind. Plus the Dementors at Azkaban affect you whether you're in prison or are just visiting

      He could've but it's Snape....Sirius and James spent their childhood bullying him and Snape is petty as hell, bullying Harry just because he looked like James with the eyes of his life long crush. Do you really think he would stop being petty for one of his childhood bullies?
