hellevator is them on pre debut/trainee days , they're going through so much pain and hardships but in the end they're just building themselves to debut , it can be dark and lonely (bang chan even said that there was a time when he was really down and depressed bc he was basically alone as he trained for 7 years, all the friends he made had either debuted without him or been let go and because of that he used be very dark before stray kids came along and as he said saved him) but like you said when they are together they seem to light it up and have fun and in the end when they go in the field is basically them finding happiness together , a fun fact is that they released scars a song that also talks about their hardships and letting ghosts from the past go in the same day as hellevator
That's such a heartbreaking but beautiful trainee story. I'm sad to hear that he had to go through so many hardships but I'm glad he found the rest of his group members in the end. This song hits even harder now. I hope they are proud of where they are today ❤️.
Please don't apologize for pausing and actually paying attention in the song/lyrics, I'm really glad you guys do this and I'm sure a lot of people feel the same way!
And I agree with the interpretation of "Hellavator", of being a hard path, its going up but it's not a smooth ride, such a great name.

Fun fact: Today is the anniversary of Stray Kids' introduction to the world as a group and the day the first episode of their survival show came out! In the past 24 hours, it was announced that Maxident hit #1 on Billboard and we got Hellevator which is their first ever song as a group to 100M views. All while SKZ were asleep of course, so they woke up to the great news LOL. So the whole fandom is celebrating :') What's funny is that every achievement SKZ have ever gotten was on a special date like this and/or an anniversary.

I wanna recommend a variety thingy that SKZ did actually. It's two episodes, both about 25 minutes long, called "SKZ Variety Games: Happy Chuseok". It's a special that they did for Chuseok and it's in my opinion the funniest and most chaotic content they've put out this year. I think you'd love it!

Hellevator is their pre-debut song and the first song that they did together and introduced stray kids to the world for the first time.
I've seen a lot of people suggest silent cry but if you guys listen to it you need to know the story behind it cuz it makes it so much more impactful, so one of the members (Han) wrote a song called (secret secret) which is a sad song and the members wrote silent cry as an answer to (secret secret) to tell Han that he's not alone.
That is incredibly touching❤️

It's just fans theory. The members never confirmed that Silent cry is answer to Secret secret.

My breakdown..
Hellevator is pre debut so this song is very much about their beginning but also growing up as teenagers like y’all said. They created this song for their survival show. So it has a lot of the feelings and struggles they’d been dealing with during that show before debuting & their trainee time.
Hyunjin used to rap more then sing actually but now he does sing a lot more which we love.
Lee Know rapping in Hellevator is special. He struggled so much with it on the show but he pushed thru and with the groups support, he did so well!🥹

Hyunjin actually specialized as a rapper. After Changbin and Han, he could be considered the strongest rapper in stray kids. In 2020 he began to train his vocal a little more but even so he specializes more in rap and one fact is that he was part of the top 15 of the fastest rappers in kpop (I don't know if the list has been updated)

If you feel like you want to tone down on their hype music, I'd recommend watching their The First Take performances
The First Take is a japanese channel that invites mostly japanese singers and bands and they have one single chance to perform their song in empty white room. If they mess up, the messed up version will get released.
Stray Kids were the first Korean artists invited. They sung 3 songs there so far: Slump, Mixtape: OH, Scars. All are live and one take only, it's so nice ❤️

34:06 You are very keen! Actually it's not satoori, but Pansori, Korean traditional singing and storytelling genre. He applied traditional Pansori style in his rap, which is awesome. Also it goes with the lyrics (mentioning a woodcutter, from Korean traditional tales) as Pansori lyrics is about folklore tales and the woodcutter is a common character in those tales!

I'm really appreciate when ppl stop the video to say something about the mv because it shows that you are interested in what you are watching 😊 I get annoyed by ppl who talk over the mv, skipping everything, or get distracted by everything else, it's immediately obvious that they don't care. "Sorry" sounds like "sori" (소리) when they Aussie-fie the pronunciation, so it's one of the many, many instances of wordplay in SKZ. 소리 is noise/sound. The 소리꾼 (sorikkun) of the Korean title of the song is a type of traditional Korean vocal performer, and it can be translated to something like "noise master." SKZ called themselves 소리꾼 and thus invoked respected historical Korean culture about a position literally all about being NOISY, which is very much part of the clapback to the derision they receive for being different or "not Korean enough" or, y'know, noisy. Some Aussie STAY also pointed out that "dirty" is sometimes Aussie slang for "mad" or "pissed off" or the like. So there's a potential additional meaning of "I'm not sorry, I'm pissed" or even "I'm not noisy, I'm mad" or whatever. But either way, yeah, they _definitely_ were not apologizing for being loud. 😆
Thunderous obviously has traditional elements in the clothing, setting, story, and the music itself. The second bit of Changbin's rap in the beginning (when he's holding a fan) is modeled after the traditional pansori style of a sorrikun's performance. From the fan to the flow, it's a direct reference, and nearly every Korean reactor I saw _loved_ that inclusion because it's so intrinsically, specifically Korean. As you noticed, traditional instruments of numerous types, from several traditional performance styles, are worked into the track, and by the end they're the dominant instrumentation. The red outfits, the animation, the blue hands, the magic, and the story (the in-video story, not the overall SKZ lore, of which the events in this video are just a small, metaphorical continuation) are all about the members being 도깨비 (dokkaebi -- powerful Korean folklore goblins) coming down from their lairs to lead a revolution by declaring themselves the thunderous ones and winning a sorikkun competition (that's what those posting are on the village announcement board) while defeating the 잔소리꾼 (jangsorikkun -- naggers, naysayers, the "villains") who throw hate at them and oppose new voices.

In terms of having people not support you, Felix said his parents weren't happy when he decided to be a trainee, flying across the world to SK alone. It almost seemed like he felt that they didn't support him in the beginning.
That makes me so sad to hear :( I can't imagine what he went through to get to where he is today.
@@NewChapterReactions Like the guide said he knew only basic Korean, enough to be polite, but with Lee Know's help and his persistence, he nailed it. Felix was only a trainee for 6 months before Chan chose him to be a part of Stray Kids.

HUGE TIPS: you said you were gonna react to each album from oldest to newest, so to understand the concept of each album you should watch the Album trailers. These trailers do not contain music from their album but like only the story behind it, it links all the music videos together and help you understand the message they’re giving. And if you are curious about the music creation process after listening to the album you can watch the INTRO for the album, 3RACHA as well as the other members explain the creation process of each of the album tracks, inspiration, funny stories etc. And to have a better idea of their personalities as well as discovering how their music videos are made you can watch the behind the scenes for the MV

Hellevator you're right is their pre-debut song that they wrote, composed and produced themselves meanwhile they were in the survival show, it will be great if u react to it so you could know more about them and their beginning, this song was about they journey to become idols i don't want to say too much cause if u watch the survival changbin explains there the meaning of the song and you can see how they created this song is very interesting, about thunderous you said that you love then people make music about the haters so i recommend you cheese, another great song that they make reference when the haters called them noisy and more unrespectful things about their music and about god's menu, side effects, etc i love how they make fun of that things like they don't really care what do the haters/people in general think about them they're living their lifes the way they want and making what the want to do. In Maniac who duplicated themselves are Changbin in the train (but his clones were behind him so it's not clear at first) and then I.N when he's like in the cafe or something like that he did it too is not lee know but you are not too wrong, lee know is in the next scene looking at "you" through the window before the brain appear and changbin do his rap and the guy with two different color lents is I.N too haha we understand that is confuse at first. One thing i like too about the maniac mv is that at the end when they are in the cafe, at the window you can read " If you want breakfast in the bed, sleep in the kitchen" is funny and original😂don't worry about the length of the video, it's very entertaining, sorry for so much text i don't even know if you can read this hahaha

34:41 Hi, here’s a fact to comprehend the title Thunderous: the Korean title for this music is Sorikun which means something like « music/noise pro » which goes along with this idea that they’re making Noise in this album (Noeasy) so you hear it like Thunder which is a striking noise that people are usually afraid of. But Stray Kids are not afraid of being Noisy (noeasy) so they use this critic as their album name and the theme that links the song contained in it (CHEESE and Domino more specifically)
Can you believe they had the AUDACITY!!!! to be this effing good at PRE DEBUT?!?!?! And producing and writing songs about that kind of subject matter to??? Literally no one does it like Skz. Hellevator was their first ever MV together. Their actual debut was District 9.

I see a lot of confusion in baby Stays when it comes to their roles as a vocal or rappers i blame mostly the guides for this lol. But Stray Kids actually have “roles” even though a lot of STAYs say they don’t. So Han, Changbin, Hyunjin and Felix are mainly the rap line, Seungmin, I.N, Lee Know and Chan are mainly the vocal line. It also exist the confusion with 3RACHA (Chan, Changbin and Han) as the main rap line but they are and at the same time not, they are the producing unit of Stray Kids and the three of them rap but Chan generally in SKZ song is more of a vocal and in 3RACHA songs he raps although also sings. The thing that “Stray Kids don’t have set roles” goes because is not rare to listen a song where a rapper sings or where a vocal raps... I hope I made sense. Thank you for your reaction.

Hellevator & the whole Mixtape pre debute album is part of the Stray Kids reality show, they did before debut.
I like watching people reacting to that & it probably would be a nice beginning to your journey.
But as far as I heared, it's hard to upload those episodes, because Mnet likes to block them.
Yeah, Mnet is pretty hard to get around unless we decide to blur out the video (which is no fun). We'll have to discuss it and see what we come up with. We would love to see the start to their journey though!

For reasons I haven't figured out (and there doesn't have to be), there's something about Felix in his Thunderous outfit, the extensions and that hat (whether it be the red version or white version, etc) that is just almost mesmerizing. I can't look away and don't want to---just stare and I don't have words for it. Gorgeous? Yes, but.... no words. And I'm not the type that goes nuts over attractive guys--I acknowledge but I can't get crazy-fan-girl, but this look.... Can't argue with the many attractive versions we've seen, including model into 2024, but this one is undoubtedly my favorite. Sori kun! 😍

I really really love your breakdown on hellevator. My 2 cents is that the circular enclosed space reminds of like Panopticon, the idea of being watched, being a prisoner. The elevator being in Inception becuase it's their deepest consciousness despite the fact that the elevator is going up, this is apparent with the folded world coz it emphasizes that dream. A song I relate this with is "The View" because that song would somehow be call back to the struggles theyve experienced to reach where they are now.
Saying that Thunderous is using something traditional, something people would comonly love but blending it to the sound which SKZ is criticized for from the fact that the olden people were admiring the modern cars is genius! Reminds me of their mixtape called "Gone Days" because it's their explicit protest against traditional/conservative people (old people).
With Maniac, i really feel like it's a callback to hellevator in terms of imagery. But SKZ have been messing with dimensions, AU selves, or clones. But if it's closely linked to Hellevator, then I'm guessing it's the fact that this is their "subconscious" like in Inception where de Caprio was going deeper into his consciousness (like how Maniac is chaotic and even showing the brain and everything's getting distorted), theyre trying to visualize exactly what it means to "cosplay" despite the fact that we have our own opinions. As Han said, "It ain't 'live', it's 'holding on'" because if that sanity or rationality snaps, we'll be a volcano "POPPIN'", a bubble bursting, a world breaking apart, vision warping--type of thing ☠️ (I don't have a different skz song to relate to this in mind HAHA)
Anyway, I just really enjoyed this reaction/review/journey . It didn't feel like almost an hour

Loved your reactions to all the videos and the in-depth analysis! Stray kids are one of a kind and my ult group! Bang chan is the one who did the adlibs (background vocals) in the end of Maniac and " oo can't stop the smoke during the chorus."
The super high tone at the end of Maniac is Chan. He doesn't sing those high tones live tho, he goes octave lower or leaves them as backing track on live shows. It makes sense since hitting that while doing choreo is pretty damn hard lol. Han is really the only one constantly hitting his high tones during live performances since his voice is higher set. Seungmin, I.N and Chan usually harmonise with themselves on backing track which is beautiful too. Then there is of course Minho who just nonchalantly hits any falsettos live while dancing without blinking 😂

Since they are so versatile with their tones and rap/vocal abilities, even fans for years get confused about who is singing what part (it's common for Chan to explain in his Sunday vlive who is singing what lol). Since "clown" is such a common title for stays, we are sure Stray Kids made their recent song Circus just for us 😂

A little tip that might help you. There is actual storyline going thru all SKZ MV's and they explained it partially in a "Stray Kids: Prequel (Highlight Reel)" it has English Subtitles & parts of few of their MV's until God's Menu and helps to grasp at least the basics of the lore. I advise watching that before going into their others music videos. Seriously it's crazy how thought out SKZ MV's are and how they all connect with each other. It's mind-blowing really.
Thunderous is definitely a message to the people complaining and calling their music noise. Same with the song Cheese. Also 3Racha on Maxident.

So I have a different take on the elevator idea. I don't think the idea is that the elevator ride is hell. I think it's the idea that they are in hell but they know there is a way up for them, the hellavator.
I think it's a small play on expectations, the hellavator is assumed to be a trip to hell, but an elevator goes both ways.
They were in hell on their own, but were always making their way to the hellavator. They each were intentional about making this trip.
Then as they get there and make the ride we start seeing flashes of a different place or different colors, because now they are on this ride together and some heavenly moments are already happening between them...
Then they get to the top and it's heaven.

I love and appreciate that you take your time to watch the MVs details and read the lyrics and actually try to understand the whole meaning behind the symbolism (btw, very accurately so far!), this DEFINITELY my favorite Stray Kids reaction channel for that reason and I'm so looking forward to make this journey with you, because if you're going to watch the MVs from the start, then we'll be watching the whole Broken Compass storyline and its a whole fantasy-action drama that needs a bit of analysis to get it whole and I'm so relieved I finally found people who actually look for the meaning behind the metaphors OMG! I'm so exited!!
There're themes that you'll find repeating constantly, like tunnel, maze, mirror, two moons, security cameras, keys, racing, glitches, flowers, the city... Every time there is one of those elements, you know that MV is part of the 'SKZ are secretly superheroes' story arc.
'Hellevator' is the elevator you find in Hell, so since you're in the rock bottom (in hell), it can only lift you up. So, when they get out from hell to this beautiful flowered field, they find themselves watching the city above them, this cold manmade place juxtaposing the wild nature where they are. And that's where their journey starts (actually no, in District 9 they show the real beginning of the story, but this is kind of the theme stated part).
'Thunderous' is the name in english, but it's original title is 'Sorikkun', that's like a minstrel in traditional Korea, and the blue lights are commonly representing 'dokkaebi', little mischievous spirits that bring chaos, so they're kinda both at the same time. This song actually was chosen to represent Korea in an international convention, with the presidents in the public, because they said it perfectly combines the traditional with the current Korea (was funny watching them trying to behave properly in front of such authorities).
'Maniac' is like 'Well, remember the cold city we found in Hellevator? Well, now that we conquered it, we found another one above that's crazier and that's our next step'

You’re so on about Hellevator! This song was writte/made during and for their Survival show. I don’t want to spoil the show in case you plan to catch up on it but yeah their debut was hell. It’s all captured in the show too. The CEO asked changbin if he really thought their training period was comparable to hell and he immediately agreed that yes, it IS hell. I highly recommend watching the 9 episodes (they’re all on stray kids subs website) so you can see exactly what they did and had to pass to get where they are now.

I really like all the songs you reacted to in this video. But Hellevator especially, it just makes me feel so nostalgic even though I only first heard it a couple months ago lol! I think because the instrumental is similar to the type of music that was on the radio when I was younger.
I see a lot of people recommending Cheese and I do really love that song but I think maybe wait a bit? Cheese specifically references 2 other songs, God's Menu (you've already heard) and Side Effects. Side Effects got (and still gets) so much hate and Cheese talks about the haters. I guess I'm saying I think listen to the other song first so you have the full context. I think Side Effects will help you understand why people say their music is "noise", obviously it's not true and I think it's a masterpiece but Side Effects is a very interesting song. I actually just realised I think when they say ‘the villains make my blood boil. All eyes on the gathering of the thunderous ones’ I think they’re mocking/acting as the haters by calling skz the villains to music and how smthn simple as their music pisses ppl off. And that even then ppl are watching what they’re doing, seeing what noise they release next. Famous as in notoriously famous.
Also the Korean name for thunderous and the word said in the chorus is ‘sorikkun’. The direct translation of that word is literally ‘noise masters’. It also is another name for a traditional type singer. But it also refers to a style of traditional Korean singing called pansori that resembles storytelling. changbin actually sings in that style during his rap verse that mentions his name. It can also be interpreted as a mash of the word ‘a nagging person’. With all these lil things, u can see what a genius title sorikkun was. Changbin was the one who thought of it.

Hi guys! I have a little bit of a theory about why the elevator numbers are climbing while also going to "H"? Mind you, this is just a theory; when we think of Hell, we typically think 'down', correct? so if a person was taking an elevator into hell, it's possible that the numbers aren't climbing as the elevator goes up, like they would traditionally, but maybe the numbers are climbing as the elevator descends lower into what we perceive as Hell. OR, perhaps all of the numbers are representing the levels of Hell they're going through until they finally break out (the meadow of flowers).

Hii it's me again, so warning another time it'll be a long comment.
But first I want to say that all of the kind of theories you made for this three songs are actually things I never thought about and I really agree with what you said !
So for Hellevator, it's actually their first content like it went out 5 years ago (its anniversary was the 7th)before the survival show to tease the survival show. And just today Hellevator surpassed 100 Million views, which is their 7th song to do so, and today is also the anniversary of five Year since the first episode of the survival show.
About the actual song I want to start with some fun facts, Lee Know is the one choreogeaphed this song and the highest note in this song is sang by Han because nobody could sing as high (but he was the one who made the guide so he ended up singing it).
For the lyrics, I always thought that it was about their journey and all the things they went through as trainees. And I think that the lyrics of Hyunjin's rap really suits him since many people when he was trainee and was trying his best told him that he would debut anyway so it was really hard for him.
So about Hyunjin, he is actually part of the rap line. Even though there's no postion, We all say that the rap line is Changbin, Han, Hyunjin and Felix, but you can also add Chan and Lee Know (so yeah Lee Know is rapping in Hellevator but in Thunderous too).
About the hate that stray kids receive. They actually receive so much hate for many reasons sadly (stays also receive hate since we are considered as a toxic fandom, so some of us, including myself, Call themselves toxic stays), some are true like skz did so problematic things to which they apologised for but the hate toward their songs is just dumb. Even more when you know that this hate only give them inspiration to write more songs.

First Surikkun (the korean title) doesn't mean Thunderous at all, I saw some people translating it as "master of making noise" So they are quite frank on what they do.
But yeah they used many traditionnal thing in the MV and the song itself. For the MV, the blue flammes represent Goblin in Korean mythology, I don't know much more but yeah. For the song, there are the instruments but also the rap part of Changbin you pointed out. He actually raps in Pansori, and not Satoori, which is like a traditionnal way of speaking/singing.
For the people with the masks, you can see them as haters. But in the point of view of the story line it can be seen as the Sound Monster that they killed in this MV if I'm not wrong (I don't really understand the story line).
For Maniac, I'll start with the upside down. The upside down is a huge part of their story line, same Hellevator (not the song the literal elevator). From what I understood they visite multiples universes thanks to the Hellevator and I don't know how but they ended up in the upside down during Maniac. That's why everything is upside down.
For the story line I'm really not the best at Explain it since I didn't understand everything myself but yeah.
During the chorus the ad libs, in the first chorus Chan was singing and in the second it was I.N. And in the last one Lee Know was singing the chorus, IN the ad libs and Chan was singing his high not "You can not stop with this feeling"
For the K thing, You're right the K change color every come back, it has to do with the color representing the come back. That's why stray kids doesn't have an official color (even if many stays think of red when we talk about skz).
