What lens are you going to use this year?

    • @9Mtikcus
      @9Mtikcus Рік тому

      XF 10-24 F/4 (mostly Video)
XF 35 F1/4 (Portraiture and general purpose)
      Sigma 56 F/1.4 (Portraiture)
XF 16-80 F/4 (for when I need more versatility and can't swap lenses)
I'm looking at adding the Sigma 23mm F/1.4 when it gets released that will get used mostly for video (if it has minimal focus breathing) as can't justify the XF 23mm F/1.4
The lenses that just don't see that much use (at least by me)
      18-55
      18-135
      XF 18 F/2.0
      XF 27 F/2.8
      XF 60 F/2.4

@@ThierryGibralta To be honest, I love it.
I did all my portraiture with the XF 35 F/1.4 before covid as I liked not being a million miles away from my models. but then covid hit and people generally want more distance so I decided to get a 56mm, I tested both the original Fuji 56 and the Sigma and preferred the Sigma. I have not tested the new fuji, but is more than twice the price and the sigma gives excellent results

XF 18-135 Very versatile but I am looking at replacing it by a tele-photo lens... maybe the 70-300 is good enough.
Viltrox 13, 23 and 56... I'm thinking of selling the 56 for the 75 as I mainly use the 56 for portrait. Very happy with the 13, OK with the 23... but I need to upgrade my X-T3 to have IBIS when in low light.
I thought about the Tamron 18-300 to replace the 18-135... but maybe the 70-300 is sharper... I like these type of super zoon when just around with the family.
      I am just a hobbyist

I use the 16-80 as my default walk-around and travel lens, and have been very happy with the results, first on a X-S10, and more recently on my X-H2. I complete my trinity of zooms with the 10-24 (mostly for landscapes), and the 70-300 (general purpose long lens but handy for wildlife, intimate details in landscapes, and even macro). I complement the zooms with a fast primes that I use for specific types of shoots: the 13/1.4 for astro; the 23/1.4 for low light street; and the 33/1.4 for portraits or other situations when I want a razor thin DOF/boke.
When I travel I usually take a sub-set of these lenses, depending on what I expect to come across. For example, trips with a main focus on landscapes will include the 3 zooms and the 13 for astro. For trips to more urban settings, I usually bring the 2 longer zooms, plus the 23 if I expect to be able to shoot street in low light.

I've loved my Canon M50 MK ii, but I'm switching to Fujifilm soon and I'm excited about getting an X-T4. Cool to see you have two lenses that I know will be part of my kit, which are the 33 F1.4 and the 70-300 (w/ the 1.4 teleconverter). I will also get the Tamron 17-70 to complete the zoom range (not all at once of course haha) and I also can't help but feel excited to hear that Sigma are going to release a 23mm F1.4 for Fuji later this year:).

Currently have to go with my xs10
XF 16 1.4 - for architecture and astro
    XF 35 1.4 - the everyday lens
XF 90 f2 - the money maker for events. The focusing is just so fast and the rendering so delicious.
XF 70-300 - I love this lenses pseudo macro ability.
I love them all and they all have their place. I also have my trusty X100F.
At work I get to use...
    10-24
    18-55
    16-55 2.8
    56mm 1.4 R
    50-140mm + 1.4x tele
All of these are also amazing lenses. The 16-55 and the 50-140 are real workhorses when it comes to event photography. We recently got a Peak Design leash strap (whatever the biggest one is). If you then mount the bottom base plate on the XH1 you can literally wear the camera and the 50 to 140 lens all day long without issues.

When come's to travel weight is a big factor for me so in my travel bag I have the 70-300 paired with the 16-80 ( I sold my 16-55) the 33 f1.4 is the I can't go out whitout this one . I'm slowly getting use to the 18 1.4 so it's a keeper. I sold my 56 1.2 for this 18mm . I'm thinking about the 10-24 but I'm hesitating and I don't know why ! it would be ideal with the 70-300 and 16-80.

    Hi
I agree with your decision to dispose of your 16-55 f2.8 lens.
I used this lens extensively with my X-H1, but for a number of months I'd been thinking that this combination defeated my decision to reduce weight/size of my kit which originally led me to change from Nikon full frame to Fuji X.
I've now reverted to using my X-Pro2 and use my original XF18mm f/2 & XF35mm F1.4. I also have the XF55-200 which I prefer to the other heavier larger alternatives, and rather against my intention to reduce size & weight, I've exchanged my XF14mm f/2.8 for the XF10-24mm f/4, which I agree is an excellent travel lens.
All I'm now looking forward to is the possibility of purchasing an X-Pro4 if/when it's announced and possibly upgrading the XF18mm F/2 for the new F1.4 version when I can afford it! - John G

I'm no longer looking for fuji glass, since I own a Sony camera too, and my next lens will be the tamron 28-75 g2. I prefer by far the zoom lenses in Full frame rather than apsc.

Great video. For leisure day trips, sometimes I just bring my 16-80, but definitely not my choice for night time use though. I've recently purchased the XF30mm F2.8 Macro and is basically using it as a lens cap on my X-T4. I also have the 56mm F1.2, which is great for social distancing street photography. There other two lenses are XF23 F2.0 and the 70-300. I will be going to Tokyo for vacation and am in the process of deciding which lenses to bring with me for street photography. Any recommendations/tips will be highly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I use same primes 33f1.4 and 18f1.4 with xt5 and I did last travels only with these. For short travels near home I add 50 140 f2.8 + 1.4x TC. All 3 lenses stay compressed in a 6l sling bag. I've also 16 55 f2.8 which I used very often in the past and I'm thinking to sell it, but I'm also thinking that it can be the only choice when you cannot switch lenses (rainy days or dusty environments).

Mario, the 6L sling bag caught my eyes. I assume you wear your camera separately with a strap and the lenses only in the sling? Also, which brand do you use? I have the PD 6L and find it a bit hard to fit anything else in the front and back pockets/spaces. Cheers.

    i have the 14 F2.8; 25 F1.4; 50 F2; 18-55 F2.8-4; 70-300.
As i bought all of my primes in my recent trip to Japan, I have been using the 35F1.4 with my X-T5 the most and i really love it. It battered through the elements including a fall, hood down first from chest height.
