What do you bring with you when you travel?
Too much 🤣👍starting by the X-T4, then I still can't settle between the 16-55mm and the 16-80mm, I pick them based on my need to have OIS, longer reach, or wider aperture. Plus one is a great back up for the other (when I dropped my 16-55mm 😢)
The 10-24mm still comes to my camera now and then, probably more once I start doing vlogs again, but to be honest I still prefer the Laowa 9mm f2.8 zero D even though it's a manual lens.
Absolutely the 70-300mm + the 1.4x teleconverter when needed, I've got from whales, birds, to airplanes and moon shots, having a compact yet extended reach is very helpful.
Then I still carry the 16mm f1.4 just for astrophotography, I still love this lens, just don't use it as much since I've got the 16-55mm, I'm more of a zoom guy than a prime.
And occasionally I may bring my Laowa 65mm f2.8 macro, now that new Fujinon 30mm f2.8 macro has me tempted for a while, but haven't found it in a good enough deal to replace the Laowa, plus the Laowa although manual, is still the "better macro" having 2x magnification.
Then I carry a speedlight, it has grown on me, especially when HDR won't cut it.
A wireless mic system (yet to be replaced for one with internal backup recording).
A more traditional travel shotgun mic (rode videomicro v1) yet to beat the SPL of this mic.
I too don't like carrying a lot of filters and rings, so I went with the H&Y CPL +VND (and I always carry an IR filter which I'm yet to dib into IR photography, but haven't had the time 🤣👌)
3 camera batteries cover my needs, rechargeable AA and AAA batteries for any accessories, cleaning kit, extra sd cards, extra cables, Yada Yada Yada.
I tend to carry either backups of things or honorable things to have based on need.
However I don't really carry all of this stuff on me st all times unless it's really necessary. Less is more, but it really depends on what level of "security/backup/importance" a particular location is in order to trim down the bag.
So I like to carry a small shoulder bag for everyday occasional day, just 1 body, 1 zoom, and maybe 1 prime. 1 extra battery, partial cleaning kit and 1 mic, that's it.
I've yet to find a good bag/sling to carry 2-3 lenses when I'm more just than out and about, couldn't settle for anything yet.
And I do carry the whole shabang when there is no other choice, but is is why fining a comfortable supporting camera bag was important hiking with 30lbs +/- of gear really ain't fun if you feel upmost miserable 1/3 of the way in 😅
My temporary solution for carrying extra lenses in my light setup is by adding lens pouches attached to the shoulder bag via carabiner clips, it's bouncy, wiggly, inelegant, but got me through hiking a dormant volcano in Hawaii, and I used every single lens I brought on that hike.
Anyway, I think we all change our travel gear from broad to narrow based on location and event VS importance, and we all trim down when not having a full camera bag is needed.
I still wish to have a drone in the future, and probably a 360 camera too at some point, but these are extras, definitely not my focus point when traveling.
I've yet to find a bag that can accommodate my camera gear plus some personal items, my backpack can barely take my camera stuff and it ain't a small bag either.
Anyway, I'm just an enthusiast, not a pro by any stretch of the way and I don't have the need for most of my gear 🤣🤣 but I enjoy every piece as part of the hobby.
Thanks for the video 😎👍
Can't wait to return to visit Japan again 😁
Oh wow lol
You do bring quite a lot with you indeed ^^
Give a try to the Everyday Backpack if you are looking for a simple bag, it works well for me and a lot of people I know!
Hope you get to visit Japan soon!
@@ThierryGibralta I've been looking at the Wandrd PRVKE 41L bag for quite some time, I like the roll-top concept, but until it gets a robust hip belt and chest strap it probably isn't the best bag for walking or hiking long distances.
Never looked at that bag. I will have a look and see 👀
Funny. I bring almost exactly same lenses (I shoot mostly Canon) Wide zoom (15-35mm) fast normal prime (50mm) and telezoom (70-200mm) Great combo and one can shoot pretty much anything with those three lenses. When I used Fujifilm my three favorite lenses were 16mm f 1.4, 35mm f 1.4 and 90mm f 2. Awesome travel set and those create some really beautiful photos. I love especially those lenses because of their rendering and colors they gave.
The color grading of your images is wonderful! :-)
Thank you 🙏
Nice kit-thanks for the vid!
Thanks for watching
Great video, thanks
Thank you for watching
Nice breakdown man!! My kit (and thought process) is very similar. I use mostly primes but I am hoping to snap up a 16-55 for video work. Awesome work!
Thank you for watching
Cool video. I was thinking about buying the 70-300 WR to photograph some boxing matches. The other option 50-140 is too expensive for my budget. Have you ever tried that?
I actually did photograph a Muay Thai match with it. I would say that the AF hunts a bit for that but I managed to get good results
What kind of leather half case is it on the X-T5?
The retro cage from smallrig. I have a dedicated video on the channel about it
What grip you have on xt5?
I use the X-T5 retro cage from smallrig: amzn.to/3T9CgLS
Just bring sigma 18-50
No action camera?
I found that action camera don’t give me the results I want to have. Sure they are useful in some specific situations but kind of not what I am looking for overall
Why not just bring the XH2s ? Thats a lot of gear to drag around unless your full time job is a photographer or videographer.
Hmm exactly for the reasons I mentioned in the video 🤔
@@ThierryGibralta you can do both with one. I always fund it hilarious that UA-camrs that just 1yr ago thought the 26mp was fine for everything. Now they have to justify 40mp and a 26mp sensor. I have a 6 ft x 4 ft image from a X100V and it came out amazing. Now I can clearly say 99% of population don't need more and more mp. As a photographer myself one thing is for sure less gear is always better. Lugging around 8-10 kgs of gear gets old very fast and I am a pretty big guy. Its no wonder iphones are taking over the camera market. I have a FF Sony A74 with several lenses but what do I use most, my old iphone 11 pro and I have some great images from it .Now the iphone14 is even better. I'd say scrap all of the lenses and get yourself a decent zoom. But don't worry the images will be 99% of a prime lens and you back and shoulders will thank you.
Yes and no. Photography wise, the X-T5 is what i prefer using. I could use the X-H2S only, like I could use the XT5 only but both have their advantage. Is it a must to have both, no. Definitely make it easier though.
@@ThierryGibralta so what your saying it’s a preference more so than a actual need or requirement. I give you bonus points for having both and dragging both around. Cheers. ありがとうございます
@@skipper4114 oh yes definitely a preference.
Cheers
Doesn't render the full 40 M pixels, is a nonsense.
What do you mean?
Don't know if you are making fun off his accent or if you want to state that the lens is sharp enough to get a benefit from the 40 Mp sensor. In case it's the first, please stop it. In case it's the second Id would be intresting to know how well the lens performs? Also there might just be more variance in that model so Fuji can't garantee that it's sharp enough for their new sensor...
