Thank you Richard. I love heuchera or it's wonderful varied foliage. I had been trying to divide the leg plants into 3 or 4 small ones with roots but not always very successfully. I will give this a go next year. IOnline I have seen posts suggesting the yellower types are easier to propagate from cuttings. Is that your experience?
Cheers, Heucheras don't like waterlogged ground so the one you lost was probably due to all the rain. The leaves are removed from the stems (the bit that gets buried) to discourage rot and some of the leaves above ground to reduce transpiration loss giving the plant less water stress to deal with while trying to make roots. You could pull one out of it's pot and see if little roots are developing, if they are carefully re-pot it - just don't let them get water logged. fingers crossed
Great video! If only I'd found this sooner as I dug up a marmalade to move it elsewhere and thought I'd damaged it so threw it out. If only I'd known I could do this!
nice tutorial. Dont you cover the cuttings with clear plastic to reduce moisture loss? The poor things dont have any roots yet. I always do and obtain excellent results.
Thank you so much, this was really helpful, you have a great voice for presenting. At first I thought you were from Gardeners World. I was disappointed to see you don't have more videos like this, I garden in the UK and find it difficult to find good British gardening UA-cam channels.
You can usually root the pieces that the Vine Weevils leave, even if they look rather sad. Just check there are no VW's hiding in holes in the stems of the Heuchera pieces.
This is the best video I found on dividing “leggy” heuchara. I wish you were still making new videos.

Enjoyed your video and then I went out and did some myself hopefully they'll root. Gardeners' world could do with more of this practical stuff.
Exactly what I was looking for - thank you for the advice.
Excellent video, thank you.
This is a fantastic tutorial! Thank you, thank you, thank you! You can never have enough heucheras right? Saves tons of money as well! Tx so much!

In the shade, outdoors I find covering with plastic unnecessary, I do water occasionally though - close to 100% success this way.
I will give way a go then.
Richard Loader I agree I never use plastic for Heucheras just in shade outside
Sorry to see your not peat free its a valuable resource
Not sure it it helps anyone to see the same action demonstrated so many times. Once will do fine
Thank you for your enlightening comment
Exactly what I'm looking for..I bought a red leaf heuchera, and I want to propagate it next year.
Thanks Richard, just what I needed to know ~ off to give it a go now :)

perfect tips Thanks
Very clear and helpful explanation
Thanks for the clear directions.
thanks!
Well I checked on my heuchera and the top just came off. I dug it up to find vine weevil grubs. They had eaten loads of root.

Your accent makes you sound like you're very well informed on this, I mean even if you were making up crap.
