    I've been making my version of these potatoes for years. After mashed taters are mixed with butter & herbs, t put them under broiler and crispy up the edges. A family favorite

    2# small potatoes
    2 Tbsp salt
    Cover w/water... simmer 20 min, drain
    2 Tbsp minced Chive
    2 Tbsp minced parsley
    1 clove garlic
    6 Tbsp unsalted butter
    1/2 tsp salt
    1/4 tsp pepper

    I’d say use 3 cloves of garlic with bit of fresh oregano and during mixing, add 1/4 cup of finely grated parmesan

    I normally make garlic butter, melt it over the potatoes and sprinkle with Italian blended cheese. Adding the parsley and chives will give it a great taste.

    I made this for dinner tonight as a side for some simple roasted chicken and cucumber salad with sour cream, salt and pepper, and it was spectacular! I got a few comments that these potatoes were the best part of the dinner. :D Delish!!

    Chef(s) very nice recipe, I always use red( new) potatoes in my potato salad, I'm sure you know the 2 sizes A= small, B= large, I prefer the A size

    easy to make, the hardest part was getting the ingredients together ahead of time…thankfully it was flexible with the amounts so the garlic and spices can vary

    QUESTION: Do you have a version where the potatoes are crisped up a little after smashing?

      You can absolutely do that with this recipe, and it would be delicious.
      When done, just put them on a sheet pan about 6-8 inches from the broiler.
      And don't go anywhere, it won't take but a few minutes. Just broil until they get as dark as you like.

    Crushed or smashed new potatoes have, including this one, deliciously flavored butter sauces. But I find their crushed appearance a little off putting, so I cut the potatoes into quarters then gently toss. I think they look much more appetizing on the plate, especially when accompanied by a small, well-seared steak and crisp tender green beans.

      Crushing them gives them craggy edges that the butter can cling to better. Cut potatoes taste different, oddly enough haha.

    Why use salt free butter when you're adding salt anyway? There's not that not much salt in the butter.

      No, they grow underground. Can't remember if they are more vine or bush like. Home gardeners can start them in a bag - as the plant grows they add dirt and create more roots for potatoes.

      @@sandrah7512 I understand that. She stated that the potatoes are "picked from the vine." Potatoes do not grow on a vine though.
      Also, I believe the in house shoots are done with a green screen background, as well as the shoots at the farm house.

      @@sandrah7512 I believe we discussed this before. At least I think it was you. I was talking about all the grilling segments outdoors with the cooks in the background. They were always in the same spots, wearing the same clothes, doing the same thing, turning the same vegetables, standing the same spots, with all the equipment in the exact same spots.
      I do think they use the green screen in house though. I have seen several of the same cooks in the same spots. It is easier to spot when one of the background cooks is one of the cooks that they use for videos because I recognize them.

The more salt you use the more your destroy your taste buds and you need more and more salt. Salt should be a condiment and not the main course. If you don't understand that, then you shouldn't bother with cooking at all.
