My husband and I would share a love for ⏺️ and we collected them for 45 years of marriage and we met in junior HIGH . We would go to record stores that were getting rid of their ⏺️ site unseen and you didn't know what WAS in there and we DISCOVERED THIS TREASURE !! FROM THAT POINT ON WE LISTENED. TO THIS OVER AND OVER AND NOW HE PASSED AWAY ON DECEMBER 1ST . WE WERE MARRIED 45 YEARS BUT FRIENDS FOR 50 .
I have always known a version of this song where it is sung from the point of view of a girl singing about a lost sailor lad. Different tune too. This version is lovely too. :)
