Thanks for all of the great comments and feedback! I wanted to address a couple of things that keep coming up. Yes, I flew quite fast with the drone to be able to get that close to the lava without melting and keep the momentum going through areas with turbulent air. Sorry if it's too fast for you but I wanted to post the video at true speed. I could slow it down to 80% as it was filmed at 30fps so lmk if that would be of interest. I also have some slower footage shot with a traditional drone so stay tuned for that. And apologies for the choppy video it must be something with youtube compression (my framerates and everything were good). I'll try to get it sorted for the next one. Thanks again for watching and subscribe if you'd like to see more footage. There's plenty more where that came from!
Can you please give the date of when you filmed the footage in your description as well as the date of upload to youtube. Beaut video - thank you very much!
This footage makes it really easy to see just how much the lava has already filled up the surrounding valley, super fascinating and well done on the piloting part, that must've been nerve wrecking
Thank you for a stunning flyover, and especially for NOT adding sound/music. It is so much more impressive to hear the thundering voice of Fagradalsfjall itself.
Superb footage here. How can this epic video only have 1200 views? I've been an avid watcher of drone footage since the first lava oozed out, and this is the best I've seen. Keep up the great work!
Jeez louise that was something. The power, the majesty and the sheer awesomeness of it all beautifully captured for the world to enjoy. You have added to the sum of the world and should be rightly proud.
Amazing perspective and flying, please if you go again check out that hole in the ground again that's fascinating and no one can see into it without a drone at such high detail. Check your compression/editing settings there is a weird choppiness to the footage like it skips frames constantly. 4k30fps source? Thanks!
Lol wow that was exciting but man you were getting a bit close to the heat. Hope you didn’t lose the drone . That area where the big hole was that the lava was pouring into was cool! I think that was a lava lake at one time and the lava just pouring out of a hole! Now we know how the lava is moving around a bit better. I had been wanting to see in that big hole but was amazed there were so many streams of lava in it. That was just so cool. I’d love for someone to fly a drone over the lava beds to investigate the holes and tubes more but at a little bit slower speed lol..not that I did t like this ! It was great but I was holding my breath the whole time hoping the drone did t fall. I know there’s big air currents over the volcano and the heat can make drones stop working so don’t get too close!
This video is amazing. The sounds the volcano makes is very very powerful. Wow. Then the further away, you can hear it. It sounds like boiling water. Great video
A pretty good video, though I would suggest to find a way to slow this down more in your video editing software. It's really hard to take in what you are seeing with how fast the drone is flying over the crater lake and then the lava river. I had to slow it down in UA-cam to 0.25x speed and that made it really choppy. It would have been nice to have stopped at a couple of the points of interest, which was the large depression where the lava was dropping into from the lava tubes and also the area where the lava was bubbling up from the tube. Maybe something to note during a possible second trip? A great first adventure with the drone. Well done and thank you.
Simply AMAZING drone video! I don't think anyone has seen that large sink hole before ( between the "viewing hill" and volcano) I watched this several times I slowed down the playback speed to ..25 just to spend more time taking this all in. Amazed the drone didn't melt as he was so close to the lava lake and rivers.
Amazing drone skills from the pilot ""thank you". I would love to see this in slow motion. 🌋 How wonderful for the scientists to see this up close and gather so much data and knowledge. 😊
@@joshuaturner damn, this vid is blowing up! that is good to hear, that viv is amazing. Any pics of it? Those lights u made were pretty neat, props to you for designing them
Wow. What more can I say except 'More! More! More!' Fantastic footage - was the speed because of uncertainty about maintaining RF contact when in close proximity to the boiling liquid rock fountains? That quality of footage should be worth serious money - it's awesome, and right up there with the best I have seen from the whole eruption. Great work.
0:58 Whoah! I know this was shot a few weeks ago and much has changed but that is some hole the lava is dropping into. Just goes to show how much of the lava flowing from the crater is not visible to us.
Amazing video. Based on other videos of people not being able to approach the lava due to the extreme heat, I'm amazed your drone didn't melt flying directly over the volcano. Do you have any thermal sensors on that thing to tell you how hot the air temperature is?
On one hand very impressive and probably also daring at times, on the other hand actually too fast an too zigg-zagg-y (and choppy for some reason). Still cool though.

Bravo!
Totally agree.

Stunning, thrilling!!! Amazing control, flying the drone over all that hot air turbulence. It took my breath away.
Well, that was quite a thrill ride.
A daredevil expert on the controls :)
That hamster sure is a skilled pilot….
I had a drone before, u can just let it fly on auto-pilot and just script a route where to fly and which heights en directions.
😲 Mind. Blown.💥 I have a new found respect for drone film work after watching this.
That is AMAZING! I am so impressed how the heat did not melt your drone!

Some of the best dronage I’ve ever seen.
Wow! Completely different perspective on Nar compared to the standard long-range cam shots. Brave of you to risk your drone, thank you.
