I had actually discussed with a co-worker, about how to find plastic waterlines through the water using vibration or safe current and a device that could pick either up.
Friend bought house, it's has full plumbing, but no water when cut breaker on, the main water line leaves pressure tank, to hole in side of the house, then it doesn't go anywhere, yeah. No well cap nothing, appears 3 feet of water feed line coing out of ground, but just open hose, however, neighbors back yard, abandoned house, this house, owner died, relatives sold it, but know nothing about, so how do I locate well? Or water source? Try tracing well wire? Digging?
That's ok for finding the pipe but can it pin point where the leak is in said pipe? Does it give out a different sound where the water is actually leaking out?
I live in Canada. Our water lines are anywhere from 6 to 12 feet deep. Mains and house lines. There is alot of places water likes to go but straight up lol most likely it will travel with the pipe for some distance.
Is this system usable for locating underground Orangeburg drain pipes? They are those pipes that are made out of felt and tar that were around in the 40s through 60s.
There's a piston that pulses and in the process it lets out small streams of water. The purpose of the hose is to help guide the flow of water away from a building or simply to keep a possible muddy mess away from where you're working.
@@brentbriley4133 it produces a water hammer, that low frequency sound is what the mic listens too. issue is its low frequency, which travel farther than high, it can get you in the ball park, but high frequency will put you in the seat.
You would have to run a fishtape from homedepot down it and use a utility locator to apply a signal to it. Your best hiring a local private utility locator to get the job done for you. Visit your states 811 webpage to find a list of private locate companies or call 811 and ask them.
Would this device work on a mile long worth of PVC pipes underground? My water meter is a mile away from my house and I'm looking for a underground water leak.
Yes and no. For those that are interested due to the engineering impact, we need something more dependable and proven. Although I have seen the witching sticks used with success, they are in my opinion, less reliable than a device such as this.
LOL.. EXACTLY..so unless i plan on locating all my pipes or decide to become a full time plumber. this video rocks.,. But since im a DIY guy and dont plan on more than one undergroung leak in my lifetime, ill use a hanger.. and for the premadonnas, ill use a fancy hanger lol..

I need ya or recommendation for finding a 2 inch main on my irrigation line. They never marked were the solenoid is. And it's stuck on.
You can locate the control wires

Ho do i find someone who does what you do in my own area?
Intermountain West?
You can contact your local Radiodetection rep or send me an email through our website with your exact location. I may know a guy or girl
great video guys, very well explained, well done
Where do you purchase one of those locators
I might know a guy, who knows a guy. SubsurfaceSolutions.com
Interesting and informative. Great post.
That's ok for finding the pipe but can it pin point where the leak is in said pipe? Does it give out a different sound where the water is actually leaking out?
Yes you can use the same equipment to find leaks. Yes it is a different sound.
On poly lines you need to do a gas test not acoustic
Can you explain to me the gas test? Id like to know more @@kwtofu
Where can I purchase these two devices?

Would you be able to locate large pipe for commercial buildings?
Trevor Barney , yes as long as you can hookup the electronic transonde somewhere close to the service.
Sure as long as you can apply the transonde to the pipe through a faucet near where it feeds the building
Or you could just look for where the water is bubbling up or where the ground is soft
That’s not how it usually works..water migrates and not necessarily upward.

No sorry. This needs pressure on the line. You'll have to use a sewer sonde or locatable push rod.
What I don’t get is why they don’t put marker ball around sewer lines, even older ones they could dig and throw marker ball after finished
What’s the price
Great bit of kit. I need one! What’s the range on this as I need 300m or so?
200m at best. Sorry just seen this comment.
Can you find a drain field PVC pipes with no water running through ?
No sorry. Needs to be pressurized for this style locator. The best for field tile is locatable push rods, GPR, and mechanical probing.
Yellow flags are for gas, whereas blue are for water
Good catch
Would someone explain what a little bit of water coming from the hose does. Not clear why that's important.
There's a piston that pulses and in the process it lets out small streams of water. The purpose of the hose is to help guide the flow of water away from a building or simply to keep a possible muddy mess away from where you're working.

Any business in south central Pennsylvania do this?
Your local dealer is Eastcom & Associates. They should be able to help.
Does this work on a street or sidewalk?
Yes. There is a hard surface microphone that looks like an elephant foot with the kit.
I have a spigot on my detached garage that doesn’t work. How can I find the line without being able to run water through it?

I have a fish tape and a metal detector. Would that work, or do I need something that transmits a signal?
@@AdamCanFly you need something to apply a signal
@@AdamCanFly no that would not work, you kinda on the right track, fish tape with a pipe locator using the conductive method

No, you are limited since you are working with sound. Most likely you will only get about 500-1000ft
it doesn't "find leaks" it can help locate pipe which is beneficial when looking for leaks.
ya but is it less than five bucks?
We can give you a free hat with a purchase
Easier and cheaper to use a coat hanger.
