- Great interview (although quality is pretty bad) with Dave Mustaine, recorded February 20, 1984.
Mustaine tries to promote his new band Megadeth to a New York interviewer, and talks about last nights' gig at The Stone in San Francisco.

This was taped inside a microwave and then the tape was left in a dirt field for 30 years before being discovered and played through a 10 dollar boombox while the guy recorded it with his phone , it was then uploaded to youtube for us all to hear.
Dave just sounds hyped up that Megadeth has been born and he’s finally getting revenge. So awesome u can hear it in his voice.
If only he knew it’ll never be half as big as Metallica.

wow, this tops any old Dave Mustaine interview on bad sound quality. 84 I was a kid and even my voice recordings with a fucked up tape recorder sound better. I wonder what the hell they did back then.
I had a Slayer picture disc vinyl that was an interview like this just sitting outside at a coffee shop with some magazine writer probably using a handheld radio shack recorder and loud garbage trucks going by they laughed about. I think they come from writers just taping for their notes and somehow the tapes get loose, thanks Santa!!

kirk hammett is an alright guitarist but he repeats his same licks in alot of songs, and dave is way better!
Dave's licks repeat too from time to time. The difference is Dave's licks fit the song, whereas kirk's sound like out of place guitar practice routines

Barry McCockiner don’t agree that Dave couldn’t push their band anymore. But I do agree that he was a means to an end. Dave was an insane guitar player but he was pretty unstable at the time. Metallica wanted their only worry to be how they were evolving. They didn’t want to have to worry about if their guitarist was gonna overdose...Kirk brought stability in the guitarist position to the band and his guitar playing fits Metallica like Dave’s fits Megadeth.
Barry McCockiner probably Lars. Probably not James. And the reason he was kicked wasn’t because he was trying to get Lars and cliff fired. Even if he was trying to get Lars fired, James wouldn’t have taken Lars’ side. Lars himself said that James liked Dave way more than him in the early days and would forget about him when Dave was around. And Dave definitely wasn’t trying to get cliff fired. He loved cliff, not Ron which is why Dave pushed him out. And about the songs, they played the songs with Dave’s lyrics in clubs for months and used his songs and lyrics on NLTL, so they didn’t have much of an issue with the topics (at the time). People were digging those songs. He was kicked because they wanted to move forward and Dave would ultimately hold them back from doing that. They were eager to record their first album and make money. The smart thing to do would be to wait for Dave to go to rehab. But why wait months to record so your lead guitarist can finish rehab when you can hire someone else and make money now? Remember they were all pretty broke at the time. See my point now?

Audio has never been good, but listenable on PC output. It seems for some reason to be unlistenable via a smartphone microphone. There were never these complaints when I uploaded it 12 years ago:)

Metallica hasn’t released a great record since 1991. Megadeth has been consistently amazing (except for Risk) since their first record in 1985.
