your children are Adorable !! Good video. I have to go buy some tools now. 😀
Yes you do! 🤣
I once lost my chuck key in the trash barrel, and went to lowes on two separate occasions, each time buying a new chuck key which turned out to be the wrong size. I found the original one and I still don't have a back-up, but Now I use a magnet to hold it to the side of the press.
I would be wary of over tightening a chuck for my own work, but for larger drills on larger presses a key designed to exert more force may be useful.
HF is great for a lot of things, especially screw drivers, wrenches, and other solid goods.
Really good tips. I go there all the time and have missed three of the things you mentioned. Thanks, and your children are beautiful. Gonna give the credit to the mom.
The threads under the cap of the putty knife are for attaching an extension pole to the putty knife. When I used to remodel, we would use it to spread joint compound on a freshly installed sheet rock ceiling. The cap is there just to keep putty and stuff out of the threads so they work when you need them. Both the “Stiff” and “flexible” Anvil brand 2” putty knives are available at Home Depot for $3.89.
Obviously you didn’t get the joke. I’m sure he knows what it’s for. 😂
Last time I was at Home Depot I was buying reciprocating saw blades, to replace the blade I used for my father in law. The single pack Diablo blades were sold out and when I asked a worker about it he said they'd have to reorder because they tend to walk out the door. When I pointed out I didn't want the multipack at 5x the price he wrote a price match slip for the Milwaukee brand. Felt nice getting 7 blades for the price of 1.
I enjoy seeing your capable Warehouse Manager making sure the tools pass QA before they go into the shopping cart.
He’s the absolutely best in his field.
The first thing you want to do with that chuck key ratchet is paint it bright yellow for the day when you don’t remember to hang it up and it tries to disappear.
I think the threaded end on the putty knife is for attaching to a pole or extension.
You had me at ratchet chuck key.
I loved your daughters in the video, that was really cute! As for the video, you are absolutely correct, I had no idea HF had some of these, I'm adding them to my app to pick up next time I have some good coupons. And then I'm going to have to watch the other 9 videos
Good luck dealing with me for the next couple of hours! 🤣🤣 Thanks for watching.
Those Bremen big boy clamps are legit. Ive been putting them thru their paces side by side Irwin Jorgensen and Rockler and they are right there with them for cheaper. Getting more soon
Good to hear!
Great tips. Thank you!
Glad it was helpful!
Looks like you have the besst little helper!!!!
Absolutely!
Great job,along with humor
Appreciate it 👊🏻
I placed a 1”diameter X 3/16” thick button-magnet on my drill press. I use the drill press about once a week on average and the chuck key ALWAYS stays on the magnet. I have literally never lost it… still want that ratchet though
Great series! Always something useful
Appreciate it as always Mike!
The magnetic storage doodads have been around for years, but they are pretty handy. I may have bought one (or twelve) over the past few years. In yellow. Of course. Thanks for this format. I love my HF.
All good stuff, think I’ll pick up the jig for drilling dowels. Had no idea they had that!
The magnetic attachments can be useful in the kitchen or the laundry, anywhere you have large appliances made of steel. I have the paper towel holder in white on the door of my white refrigerator.
Awesome content -- never saw the first two at HF. I'll definitely be picking those up!
👊🏻👊🏻👊🏻
I use the putty knife to scrap my cast iron skillet. It lives in the knife drawer and works great!!
That’s pretty smart!
funny, when I was in high school (50 years ago) the band was called the Reformation. We actually cut a record that went no where (one play on the radio-really). Just had to share. thanks for the tips. One for you, I bought their cheapest drill with battery for $19 and use it to sand my turned items. This way I don't use up the battery on my good drills.
Beautiful family brother God bless you and your family
Thank you! He has already given us more blessings than we can be thankful for. 😊
I have the magnetic paper towel holder on my outdoor griddle! I can recommend it and the glove box holder.
I never even thought about using those on my pit. Good call man.
No way! A woodworking UA-camr that doesn’t take themselves too seriously? 🙌
👊🏻 I’m barely a UA-camr 🤣
wtf you mean by that!?.... hah SFMF
@@mos8541 a lot of woodworking channels have more ego than information in their content. I appreciate the easy going atmosphere here.
An awesomely informative, and adorable video
Thank you! I try my best to be as adorable as possible 😉
@@TheReformationWoodshop 🤣🤣🤣. Not what I was expecting as an answer, but funny as all heck. Nice one.👍🏻
The cap that screws off on the putty knife is not for storage, you can add an extension stick to it, it can be used to scrape the floor with out bending and reach higher places.
Found your channel otw to work this morning. Instantly subscribed 👍🏻👍🏻
Appreciate it brotha! Don’t let me distract you from the road 😉
The putty knife end cap can be taken off and you can put a painter's extension handle onto it
4:00 I definitely immediately thought of Adam Sandler in that Rob Schneider film saying "this is a really nice piece. ... And you can store your weed in here."
😂
🤣🤣🤣
The disappearing drill press chuck key just earned you a subscription lol. Keep it up man!
I still haven’t found it my magic was so good 😊
Same....
I was hoping to hear The Final Countdown play
❤️ your helpers
They’re the best!
Great shopping companion 😄
The best!
I subscribed cuz your kids were awesome
Great video 👊🏼👊🏼
Appreciate it Jeff!
Good deal I love Harbor Freight
5:08 Skill Ugly blades are my favorites
The kids are adorable!
Thank you!
I agree with all your picks! You should try out the HF painters tool by Quinn. It's fantastic!
OMG. Your kids are the cutest! Good tips, too. :)
Thank you Laura!
A putty knife is used to separate the tape used to stick a board down to a spoil board for thru-routing (CNC or no). A stiff one is usually better.
THanks bro now I wanna got there and look around 😮$$$$$$$$😂😂😂😂😂
Get in there!
Great stuff, those kids are cute!
Appreciate it! They’re the best!
I’ve had this jig for years
The highlight of your video is your two adorable apprentices ...
Couldn’t agree more. 🙌🏼
She is just too cute, nice helpful suggestions, like the magnetic stuff..going to check those out for sure
Earned a subscriber today with the putty knife schoo wee....
🤣🤣👊🏻
I've had really good luck with their J clamps. Not the squeeze type
Your babies are OUTRAGEOUSLY CUTE!!!
I think the putty knife storage area is for a wooden extension
I've had the chuck key for about 5 years and it's still going strong. I don't think that the price has changed
Instead of the large chuck key just get the cheap harbor freight magnets and slap ine on the side of the the drill press. Its where i keep my chuck key
So cute adding the kids! My daughter couldn't say alligator, elephant, or hamburger at that age. " agillator, " "elphanant," and " han-gah-burger"
🤣🤣 you miss those little things when they’re gone.
@TheReformationWoodshop YES! She's 25 now! I have no idea where the time went
Interesting why something as inexpensive as a putty knife would drive you to H.F.? I agree with you completely, though, that a putty knife is an extremely versatile tool.. and have used it for nearly 40 years in the same manner as you show in your video. Liked the other choices.. and you are right.. there are many other surprises to be had.. if you're willing to dig around for a while. Their stepper bits.. for the price.. are pretty unbeatable. Ditto for their F-clamps. Air nailers are not too bad.. their cheap 18 ga. nailer kept up with the much more expensive Bostitch that was 3.5x the H.F. price! Nice video..
In my view there are 2 reasons to buy harbor freight tools. To save money and convenience ( they carry a lot of stuff) But what self respecting woodworker would buy a V-block for a drill press? It is simple and free to just rip a scrap of wood at about a 45 degree angle, flip one piece over attach both to another scrap and you have a v-block. Easily customizable to your exact needs.
chuck key does not fit delta full sized press. Also, the reverse is definitely on the gonna break side. Would not assume it fits any of the floor presses
Now I want a chuck key in 1/4 square drive or Hex shank.
She's precious.
4:15 try an angled putty knife.
i have a nickel size rare earth magnet on the side of my drill press body. just throw the chuck at it and it's there.
when my youngest daughter was about 3 I had her make a promo spot for my radio show. we still laugh till we cry when I play it. kids are a killer marketing tool. also love this series. been a fan of HB half a century.
Yeah… she’s way cuter than I am so I love having her as a mascot!
The tool box accessories have been around at HF for 20 + years.
That just goes to show how much I pay attention… 🫠
She is beautiful! And she definitely looks just like you! 😊
Thank you!
She has your eyes!!
For sure! And her mommas attitude 🤣
The ratchet key doesn’t “ratchet”! You’re using the same way, remove and turn! The only difference is long handle 🤪
Does anyone know where the chuck key went? Master magician!!
I’m coming for David Blains job!
Your daughter is adorable, and she does look a lot like you.
Flip your saw zaw blade around and you'll have more control
Heard the chuck key hit the floor
Ummm no… it disappeared with magic 🤷♂️
The power bar is my favorite but wait until it goes on sale for $24.99.
Absolutely!
I'm off to buy that Chuck today !. My father always taped his to the tool, I didn't get the habit and search every time. New subscriber.
I got the HF chuck key and the gears stripped out and it became useless…until then it was great. 😟
Good to know, but by "gears" do you mean the ratcheting mechanism or teeth to engage the drill chuck?
Good ideas...saving money is always important...BUT...your kids stole the show!!!
😆
They always do brother, and I don’t mind at all!
I shouldn't think you would. There is nothing more important than family and you can see it in your face...@@TheReformationWoodshop
You can put the putty knife on a broom handle. That would be my guess.
Definitely for those hard to reach places.
I'm curious as to what type of wood filler you use in the cabinet shop.
Famowood. Best quality filler on the market I believe. 👍🏻
@@TheReformationWoodshop Thanks. I'll look for some and try it.
What wood filler are you using in that can?
Famowood alder colored filler. 👍🏻
Very Good!... #99 ✝ {10-3-2023}
Most of the magnet stuff has been around for years
So I’ve heard, I’ve just not paid enough attention apparently.
YEEEESSSSS 😂
We’re back baby! Bust out the wallet!
Be careful with that ratchet chuck key - the gears are pot metal. Mine stripped shortly after I got it.
If you're a carpenter then don't buy jig junk that's probably going to sit in a toolbox somewhere. Make one when you need it. Cheap putty knives rust and make poo colored stains unless you constantly polish them.
I like sharpening and cleaning my puddy knifes
I purchased that magnetic holder for the disposable gloves from Harbor Freight along with a box of their gloves and guess what? 😮
Chicken Butt?
@@FrugalShave You bet! They don’t fit. I’m going to have to cut some filler pieces out of wood to keep me from pulling the whole box out of the holder. 🤣
@@heystarfish100You're supposed to pull the tabs inward to hug the glove box closely. It doesn't fit right out of the box on purpose.
@@yourdream8 Hey thanks for your help but maybe I am just too heavy handed because those forks keep loosening up their hold onto the box. I’m happy that yours is working out well.
what till your "helper"get oldervand has to "help DEAR OLD DAD"
What type of putty, wood filler do you use for your wood work? Thanks
We use Famowood wood filler on everything we build at the cabinet shop.
@@TheReformationWoodshop Thanks for getting back with me. Can you apply oil or latex stain over the filler without issues?
@mikeledee8786 yes sir. The can we use is a little expensive but its made to be painted or stained effortlessly.
@@TheReformationWoodshop thank you
I completely disagree about the HF glove dispenser. I purchased one a few days ago, and returned it a few days ago (within an hour); it's far too large for the HF glove boxes. MIght work for tissues, but who uses tissues in a shop when there are blue towels around. I built one instead because, you know, I do woodworky things.. :)
Nice video, though - I'll watch a few more.
Someone else said the same, maybe I should get a box of their gloves to see. I already had a few boxes from elsewhere and they fit just fine.
You have to bend the prongs in some so that it grips the glove box.
Means you can only find it at harbor freight
I lost mine for my m18 auger key
he cap comes off the end so you can screw the putty knife on a broom stick.
The secret to HF shopping is to stick to the cheapo stuff. I buy the acid brushes in bulk to spread glue..
Your girls are so cute. Thanks for the tips.
3:53 Sniff sniff lol.....
Good video. That beautiful little girl was the star though. Sorry. LOL . She is precious .
I don’t mind that one bit!
Your daughter is very pretty ❤️
Thank you 👊🏻
I have the putty knife. Can’t beat it for the price.
You have a beautiful little girl! I see she took after her mother. LOL!
Thank God! They’ve got the same attitude as well 🤷♂️
@@TheReformationWoodshop I have already been through what you are going to go through! Our little girls are so cute its a shame they have to grow up.
to make "brownie"points she is pretty like her mommy
Your daughter's adorable! I'm sure you do.
Cute daughter.
Disagree about the recip blade. One metal cut and they are done. Diablo blades last a heck of alot better.
But everything in my woodworking shop is made of…..wait for it…..wood. No metal.
