Smaug did have some digital modifications, but Benedict DOES HAVE THAT VOICE pretty much of itself. They didn't have to do much modifying. Have you been over to the UA-cam videos that show him doing the motion capture of Smaug?

I have gollums voice (I can do a very good impression) :p but honestly trust me you would stop talking because the gollum voice does get to your throat evantually :p (they made a special drink for andy serkis for his throat because of the voice he needed to do all the time)

The Hobbit 3 already..now I'm anticipating 'The Silmarillion' already.. oh dear, never want these things to end..
That's going to be tough, Christopher Tolkein barely let them make the hobbit films, and seems to be holding his ground with the rest of the books.
Why?? I didn't know about this. He will get a lot of money otherwise.

Rose Daofah he don't need the money Tolkien spent his life working on the Silmarillion his son Christopher spent his life compiling his fathers notes that became the Silmarillion and the Histories of Middle-Earth he has no plans on selling them as his hair is being groomed to think the same way. We won't see this book become a movie in our lifetime.

No I'm not. :) Colbert might not be the best moderator, but he's a huge LOTR expert. Watch his interviews with James Franco on his own show, and his interview with Peter Jackson. In fact, Peter Jackson was so impressed he even gave Colbert a cameo role in the Hobbit.

17:55 Cool question lol. Galadriel in lore is probably the most powerful being for the good guys. I mean, she was the reason Lorien was able to hold against a massive army of easterlings and orcs in the War of the Ring. Her magic is on another scale, possibly even greater than gandalf.
the PJ movies really downplayed some of the magic, but it was really important in lore.
As a Noldorian elf of the House of Finarfin, she probably has the most amount of corporeal power for the light side but as a Maiar of Valinor and esteemed the wisest of his race...Gandalf has the greater power and wisdom but is bound by commandment not to be overt in it's usage.

TheLadyyno Benedict doesn't have as big of a role as the other characters and you don't actually SEE him. Just motion capture. I like Ben and he is talented but so are the others on the panel. Show some respect.

Doesn't make any difference whether he is seen or not; the dragon was the focal point of the entire movie and it would not have had the impact without Ben bringing it to life as well and professionally as he did. I did the EXCACT SAME thing as Evangeline and never read the last pages. I just don't want it to end. Ever. But I'm just the biggest fan with everything all over my place (including maps and jewlery etc. from the Lord of the Rings & the Hobbit). I wish so BADLY that I could have been a part of Middle Earth! Tolkien is amazing!
Please commit to develop the Silmarillion! That would be challenging and you have a caste and chance for many new characters!

How long had it been since LOTR was written til Jackson made the films? How long will those who own the rights to Silmarillion wait to take advantage of Jackson's production abilities? What are their objections? It seems senseless especially since LOTR and The Hobbit have been so successful and pleases the Tolkien fans so much.
Tolkien himself sold the rights to The Hobbit and LOTR when he was alive. As a result, his estate had no say in the creation of Jackson's movies. They've made their opinion known, though, and they hate them.
Unfortunately copyright belongs to Tolkien Estate and they're definitely not fond of PJ, so no Silmarillion.
