It would be nice if the control box and screen could fold down as well for easier storage when traveling. None of the detector manufactures have thought of this yet and it would be a winning feature for experienced metal detectorists to have a detector that fits easily in small back pack and still leave room for a little more gear. Or a carry on travel bag on an airplane.
@@adventurearchaeology I would love to get my hands on it. It would be a serious upgrade. Ty for the video . If you ever want to get rid of it, wink, I'll take it.

I wonder why they didn't go wire-less with the Vortex, I use a wire-less machine relic hunting, you don't have to worry about getting tangled up in the brambles, and when the machine is collapsed you don't have a wad of wire around the shaft.
Hey Brandon. Greadings from Rochester, New York. Excellent video. I’m very excited about the new Vortex. I have been a Garrett user for about seven years now I was using whites before that. I really like the Apex machine that’s basically my go to machine. The AT Pro is for my water hunting. I always said if they could take the Apex and make it waterproof it would be the perfect machine. Looking forward to future videos.
I do like the blue. With a brighter color it would be easier to spot it in the woods if you set your machine down. The camo one I would be afraid it would get lost.
I like that new machine! Wonder if the new arm rest would work on my at pro? It’s broken completely off just like you said. Think truck bed got it. Enjoyed the video!

@@adventurearchaeology This is what White's Spectra V3i owners kept wanting in the V3i. Waterproof! New technology. Lithium-ion battery! I never did count Garrett out! Thanks for the video.
When I first seen the Vortex I did not care for the blue color, but now that I watched your video i like it, I like the Pod design it reminds me of my Axiom, I am kind of on the fence on this one, have the Legend which is a good detector or was a good detector until the 1.11 version was introduced and my Legend has not been the same since I installed the 1.11 so this new Vortex I may be picking one up when they become available

I get their price points are low on this $600 for the vx9 but I don’t see carbon fiber and are the wireless headphones extra ? Based on the launch it seems like everything is extra so it adds up , curious how you see the iron bars as anything different than etrac
The MS3 headphones from previous models will work with the Vortex so no added cost if you have a Garrett Machine using them Already. The carbon fiber shaft would be nice but it saves quite literally ozs of weight for quite a higher price. The iron bars would be better compared to the manticore in my opinion but flipped and of course for less than 1/2 the price. The downloadable upgrades will definitely be how the detector market moves forward I have no doubt. Software is the difference maker.
I wouldn't mention the Manticore and this machine in the same sentence. They are nothing close to the same. The Manticore comes with headphones, the Manticore has cam locks, the Manticore has 10X the settings for adjustment. All that being said, I really wanted to buy and support an American company. The dealbreaker for me was no headphones and "thin mode." Which was specifically mentioned as being for gold coins and hammered coins in Europe. I live in the U.S.A. and I could pull up multiple videos of gold coins found with Minelab and XP machines. The last machine I bought without headphones cost me $269, not $450. My Bounty Hunter Tracker 4 that I started out with had this type of locks on it. I have a Manticore and what I've seen of those iron bars, no that is nothing like a Manticore.
