We don’t have a vaccine for chicken pox in the U.K. 🇬🇧.
My daughter caught it at 18 months olds and spent weeks in hospital as she got cellulitis on her face then got sepsis. Was very scary, she was in high dependency and very poorly for months after. I swore from that day on I’d never purposely pass it to other children, she caught it from her sister so it couldn’t be helped.
Was bad enough when my eldest had it at 11 weeks old.
Glad you didn’t have a mass spread and are all feeling better now. ❤

My daughter is 10. Had the vaccination right before kindergarten. In January, it'll be 2 years since she had chicken pox. We live in West Va, USA. Chicken pox is stl around.
Not everyone wants/ gets all vaccines, and chicken poxs can still happen with it. I'm vaxed and I had chicken pox
My husband had all his vax, and he had had Roseola
And I also has shingles
Be careful with the V'ed ones around chicken poxs.... shingles can pop up in them. I have 2 that had shingles, one son at 18 and 20 yrs old, and my other son got shingles at 24

Back in the 80s moms made infected kids play together so they’d get it 😂 I got it from my Moms best friends son. He was a year younger than me and I got it right after him. This was back in 1984, I was probably in kindergarten. I just remember being covered in pink spots which was calamine lotion 💕 I’ve heard getting it as an adult is pretty serious. Now all Aphrodite needs for Christmas is her front tooth 🦷 😂
In the 80's I had the largest house among my friends so when any child got the childhood diseases everyone turned up at mine, at one point we had 16 children with Mumps measles and chickenpox in my lounge and dining room, lol, my children still speak about those "fantastic times", no school but plenty of reading.
You might be isolated for longer, as some maybe not catch it until next few days or next week so the 2 weeks starts over again 🤦🏼♀️😊

Hello Yes I've had chicken pox 3 times ,then shingles. So it's accually good they got it young .Its not as bad. Well it can be🤒. Well take care Momma. 🙏💞👍
My kids were born before the vaccine was available. Two of the three got it with the youngest getting an extremely light case. Unfortunately, one year later the little one at age three came down with shingles. It was horrific and extremely painful. The episode lasted 12 weeks. 12 weeks of screaming with sudden nerve pain. Worst experience of my life. My oldest is 45 now and none of them have ever had a sickness that was anywhere near as bad as shingles.
If you use a dry washcloth it grips better and comes out 1st try with a good grip on it.
Buy some calamine lotion and oatmeal bath- both help with the itching.
I hope your kids do not get a staph infection like my daughter. She had them in her throat and ears and EVERY WHERE. GET THE CALAMINE LOTION AND COOL OATMEAL BATHS GOING!!!
You'll all be fine. It's a right of passage in this part of the world.
I am 44 and adopted. My dad has no records ever showing me ever having chicken pox. I do remember being exposed and being right next to my foster sister and she was converted and I wanted to touch them but I have zero memory of having them

It was found that children vaccinated for chicken pox need a second vaccine at around age 10. Also, some children are naturally immune. I have one sister (out of 4) who never got chicken pox, and NONE of her children got them either.
I got chickenpox before I was preschool age. My mom put me in my brother's room so he would get it too. But he didn't get them until many years later, I was in 5th grade and he was in 8th grade. He got a much worse case than me.

Mine chicken pox were awful!!! I had severe fevers and blisters everywhere couldnt eat or sleep got it when I was 11… fast recovery😊

BTW chicken pox is mostly an airborne disease. Also if you contact the pustules. Didn’t they have that vaccine available where the littlest were born. It’s very unusual in Australia for people to get chicken pox virus, so maybe you got it at Sea World from unvaccinated person.
I am 43 years old (almost, in 6 days), and had chickenpox TWICE!!! Once, my mom sent me to my friends house that was infected to infect me, and it worked (I was 4 years old)! Again, when I was 13, I got it again! This time was the worst. Both my kids are vaccinated 😂

The year I had chicken pox we all had it even out cousins in Canada . We got Evryone sick with chicken pox... 😂 I was just little mayb 2 ND grade.

I had chicken pox twice also. I believe in allowing the immune system to do its job.
Our 4 older children had chicken pox.
By the time the 4 younger children came along, there was a vaccine so they got the vaccine.
I had chicken pox so bad they were in my ears and female parts.
I recently got the shingles vaccine.
I am not against keeping kids unvaccinated if that’s the wish of the parents.
Only recounting our experience.

Glad you're all done with chicken pox. The itching and scratching is miserable. Aphrodite is so cute with her front tooth missing. What book did she end up picking out? I think it's a great idea to buy them a book instead of giving money for losing a tooth. 📚🦷
When I was little I had chickenpox and tonsillitis at the same time I was a really sick little girl for a couple weeks
We had chicken pox parties in the 70’s, that way we all got it at once and got it over with.
Awe the dreaded pox.might as well get it over and done with lol. Lots of love and cuddles over two weeks! I love how you make light of it and not make it scary for them. A great way to get through it❤❤ party and play the white shirt family way❤🎉

Usually people who have been vaccinated against chicken pox, if they do get it, get a milder form (less severe rash, lower fever and quicker recovery)

I think i must be naturally immune from chicken pox because i have been around it many times and never had it. My siblings had it and my sister and i shared a bedroom. Friends at school had it, my children have both had it, one of my son's had it twice as he only had a mild case the first time. I also work in a school so have been around pupils who have had it. Crazy huh? Xx
When I was a kid we had pox parties. If one kid got it they had us all get it and get it out of the way. We didn’t have the vaccine just yet. It was horrible. So itchy.

I caught chicken pox when i was 19 years old.
My mom always said she was lucky. I was a difficult baby from the start and have continued to be problematic my whole life when it came to my health. I was born premature and stayed in the hospital for almost two months. I had issues with the development of my lungs and heart. You know, just simple issues.🤷🏽♀️😉 I also had almost zero immune system. I actually contracted the Chickenpox while still in the nicu. Apparently, for a baby I got it pretty bad. My mom was so thankful she had the help of the doctors and nurses at the children’s hospital to help care for me during that time. I can’t imagine how hard it would’ve been to see your tiny baby suffer through that.

It’s annoying but getting over it is better. And what makes is easier is you’re not alone. Don’t pop it cause it leaves a nasty scare.

Sorry about the chicken pox. I got it really really badly where it covered so much of my body that I had to soak in baths most of the time to soothe it. I was 5 and still have lots of scars from it! I can't believe you got it twice! Oh my! I hope I never get it again or shingles or anything. Hope everyone heals quickly and don't feel too itchy!

My childminder still wanted my son so her children could get chickenpox and she incited her friends round with there children as they wanted there children get it so basically a chicken pox party we call them❤
Hello from Ontario Canada , my son had chicken pox when he was little he even had them on his tongue and in his hair, better to get them when you are young, but stay home good advice Mom, play games, rest and enjoy each other like I know you always do, God bless and no scratching they will leave scars it you pick at them❤️🇨🇦🇦🇺❤️

Awww I hope you guys recover fast !! My daughter recently just got over the hand foot and mouth disease, for a second I thought it was chicken pox as well but her pediatrician said “nope it’s “HFM” very common since she’s in kindergarten now “ my heart almost shattered so so glad she wasn’t in pain. I never got my children vaccinated against chicken pox. I did not see how that would help them and felt like it would hurt them more. Thank you Jesus for helping me make a wise choice for their benefit!
Here in America back 40/50 years ago, they used to have chickenpox parties for all the children so that you actually got chicken pox as a child due to how absolutely HORRIBLE is it to get them as an adult.
The worst case of chicken pox you have as a child, the better chance you have of never getting them again. I was very blessed to have had a severe case of chicken pox at the ripe old age of 4 or 5 years old. I have a few scars but, it’s ALL good! Thank you Jesus!
I remember lots of oatmeal baths and being lathered in pink calamine lotion, helps with the itching.😅

So preventing it all together wouldn’t help them? It’s a shot that they won’t even remember getting but supposedly that would hurt more than the agony of actually getting chickenpox and the high chance of getting the shingles??… Also very strange that you chose to believe the worse the case of chicken pox you get as a child the better chance you have of not getting it again but don’t believe in the science behind vaccines? God help your children if that’s your way of thinking….
