Congrats Bob and Meg!!!! Super happy for you both, hope this works out real well for you with the chartering on it. Hopefully this will help bring a lot more entertainment value, comfort for you guys and more crew. Hopefully your followers/subscribers/patrons will understand that you will appreciate and need their support more than ever with additional cost of operating on a bigger vessel, and also understand that this catamaran is not yours. What a twist Bob, they say when one door is closing another opens up. You were considering a new vessel and Voila (although not really yours). Must be relaxed requirements for a charter skippers in the Carib. Down here in Aus, you have to have a commercial masters ticket class 5, same thing as needed for a small coastal ship.

+fishaholiclures it's pretty easy to get a six pack (six passenger license). Just 360 days of sea time since 16 years of age, take a week long class and then 3 test.

Friggin awesome Bob. Conga rats. I am so jealous. The L 440 has been my dream boat since 2005. Love it. BTW traditionally crew sleeps in those forward bow compartments. Leaving the staterooms available for charter. Not the most pleasant place to live. Be sure you discuss this with the buyer that you get one of the back cabins.

The L 440 is very seaworthy. Every year L440s cross the oceans. Over and over. It is a great boat.

Perfect sea trial conditions! It really bugged me when I was buying a catamaran that some of the Brokers would see bad weather and tuck their tails between their legs and try to cancel. None of the boats the brokers made me wait to try in nice weather handled very well but the one that we took out in a storm handled beautifully! Funny how those things happen.

I for one am bummed out. I mean, I am glad you get to move to a spacious catamaran. But I thought this story was moving in a really interesting way and I think this will take it way off that track. I hope it works out well and I hope it doesn't become one update a month, or a commercial channel for a charter cat. And I know even that would be fine but it wouldn't be this interesting little story I thought I was going to see. Bobby you have a great narrator voice, and interesting back story. Megan is gorgeous, charming and a bit mysterious, and the dogs are great. Wishing you all the best.

Thanks but no thanks. When you started this adventure, you had a condo and contents as an asset. You replaced that with Ruff Seas, which was an asset. Once you sell Ruff Seas, you will have absolutely no assets. Don't get me wrong, I'm envious that you get to sail around the caribbean or wherever but you're no longer captain of your own destiny. What happened to sailing around the world? What happened to going where you want when you want with whom you want? I'm happy that you're happy, just disappointed that the original adventure and charter, such as it was, has changed so much. Whatever you do, just don't jeopardize the lives of those 4-legged kids of yours or sacrifice your relationship with Megan.

Now that is hella exciting, very psyched for you guys!! Good things happen to good people. Some will say lucky, but "luck" is when hard work and opportunity meet! Without all your hard work on the vids, this probably would never have happened. By coincidence we are in the process of taking possession of a Helia 44 cat as we speak, so we will be figuring out these cats together! In Annapolis now, but will be down in the carib after the hurricane season, hope to cross paths with you guys! Best wishes to you both! (I remember an episode where Megan mentioned she didn't like cats, but I will bet money she will be changing her mind!)

OMG! Bobbie it would seem you have found a great way to enjoy your lifestyle on a bigger and more capable sailing vessel. You happy for you and the new owner. I can't imagine a better way for you, Megan & The Boys to continue on your adventures. Hopefully the Ruff Seas will find a new owner sooner than later so your load is lighter. The Lagoon looks terrific. Is there a reason we did not see the port side?

Really cool! Congrats! But take a look at "Zero To Cruising" and how their chartering someone's else's boat happened. I am sure you guys will have better luck than what happened to them.

They were chartering some "big money guy's" cat and everything was going fine until the owner decides to go along with them on a trip with their daughter and baby. Big wig gets smashed drunk and starts verbally assaulting their daughter for letting her child sleep in their cabin instead of with the young mom. Zero 2 Cruising guy and wife wake up and all hell breaks loose. They quit on the spot and they locked the wife, daughter and grandchild in a cabin for their safety until they reached port the next morning. Very ugly and messy. They were suddenly out of a boat although their Zero2Crusing cat was on the hard for sale. It was a while ago so I may have missed something.
I should have said they locked themselves in a cabin for their own safety. "Big wig" = Rich guy (the huge catamaran's owner)
Yes, the grandparents cabin, evidently the rich guy took it as a sign of bad mothering and in his drunk state I guess he ripped into her verbally. Can't remember but I don't believe so if the daughter drank. I looked for the last 45 minutes on Zero To Cruising blog site but I believe Mike, the grandfather, took the posts down maybe due to legal reasons. Anyway, it was all one sided but Mike sure seemed like a stand up guy in my years of reading his blog posts. It happened in 2014 I believe.
I wish you folks the best. I am concerned about the nature of this new opportunity. It is now a "job". The safety and concern about having to have "others" aboard concerns me as well. Some how though I think it will work.
