All the OG guys know this is the most iconic marker EVER made hands down. I love all things paintball but the autococker to me has stood the test of time like no other maker !! A work of art indeed..
As an old player from the 90s that got recommended this video, it blows my mind to see people talking about cockers again! They are truly awesome though, I still regret trading my original stock right feed 99.
My buddy and I had our first speed ball tournament. I had a luxe and my buddy had an auto cocker. He literally gained everyone’s respect for coming out with an auto cocker and we were the favorite newbie’s/under dogs. I had no idea autocockers were so beloved
Wow. I know this video is 3+ years old, but I am just finding it. Man, it takes me back! Free Flow and Pro Paintball are a piece of WNY history. They were the only shop around that would service my old Angel LCD back in 03 or so. Good times. Thanks for the nostalgia.
Was just thinking about angel markers today sad they shut down in 2011 I remember when I bought my first auto cocker it was anodized green with a halo hopper lol and the angel was just such a hot gun back then. Brings back memories I miss those days
I have no idea how this video showed up in my algorithm, since I haven't played or shopped for a new marker in like 20 years, but this brought me waaaaaaay back.
Paintball guns were so much more fun back in the day. Everyone had mods and aftermarket parts. Autocockers were the best for tinkering but also a pain in the ass
Space guns are lighter, more reliable, more ergonomic. But no soul, like a well timed and running cocker. Nothing is more satisfying than shooting out a space gun with a mech.
I love my AC-98. Black body with all ANS red parts front block. The last time I was on the field the kids were making fun of my old school marker. I went out onto the field and tore up the other side of the field. After a few games I switched to my minimag. My first marker was a SL-II and my second was a Spyder-A.
The DAYS worth of time I spent getting the timing of my autococker perfect. It was a Frankenstein project with no mathching brands, my front block was literally all parts harvested from other markers. I miss that gun. 😢
palmers rock front reg, rock knob, shocktech bomb 3 way, palmers stabilizer vertical reg, ANS ram, eclipse QEVs, ANS low pressure chamber, shocktech supafly bolt, wgp swing trigger, dye sticky3 grips, dye barrel, shocktech mini drop, phat/aci on off asa, steel braided lines, otp slingshot bolt, kapp beavertail, AIM cocking rod, anodized blue pump rod, shocktech rat valve, shocktech ball detent, all on a 3 digit serial number right feed mini cocker. it's not pretty anymore but yeh
Great review Brad. That’s a very nice clutch. Your friend picked a good color combo. FreeFlow does some great work. They’re currently restoring my original millennium FreeFlow. Can’t wait to shoot it.
Just found this vid, the coolest thing was when people put bathtub spout covers over their front pneumatics haha that was always so rad, I remember one dude had a hammerhead shark one
I still love my old school Black Magic auto cocker! They are some of the most accurate guns made. Just buy an older used cocker and have it sent off to be all cleaned up and you will have one solid gun for years and you will be one of the only guys out there with it!
I use to be on to paintball from 12-18 years old. Even though Spyders were on the cheap end, I had the fully electronic Spyder EM1 with an 18" (I think) Stone Cold II barrel and an Apolocolypse carbon wrapped nitro tank. The size 88 is sticking out in my head for some reason. The tank was a tad on the larger side. It's the first gun controlled by a circuit board on the grips with dipswitches that allowed you to change from semi-auto, 3-shot burst and full-auto and then adjust how many bps for 3-shot & auto up to 20 balls per second. It wasn't perfect, bit she surprised the hell out of people at the field. The gun was finished in this blue chrome like finish. Trigger had much to be desired. IIRC, it had quite a bit of side wobble. It was adjustable, so you could make it so sensitive, just tapping the trigger made it shoot. Sheesh. That was over 20 years ago. At like 16yo, I was visiting my cousin in Allen, TX and there was a college team out there from Houston. After they watched me, their coach wanted me on the team. I didn't live in the state at the time. I was the fastest on the field anywhere I went. Said they saw a skinny kid in a t-shirt and shorts flying up the middle, at the start, getting to the 50 yard line from the gun. No one had gotten that far from the dig. I honestly thought paintball died in place of airsoft. So, do people really still play pb? Are there any pro teams like there use to be in the late '90's & early 2k's?
Lack of patent probably has something to do with Glen Palmer actually inventing the auto cocking mechanism -- Bud Orr just made a mass produced version from his Sniper design.
I think the appeal of autocockers was the visuals of mechanisms moving in operation. The newer guns you pull the trigger and a paintball comes out, no other visuals are happening. With the autococker you get to watch the back block move in and out.
I didn't know that the autococker wasn't patented. Fun fact. Not patenting it worked out really well for creating an autococker culture. Its a great throwback to the days of building guns from aftermarket parts and every gun reflecting the personal preferences of the player. Though I prefer my automag, I gotta respect that autococker players for showing their character and the love for the sport.
I haven't played in over 15 years, but this video gave me a PTSD episode over the old Dye parts I had on my '02 WGP autococker. What a blast from the problematic past. Lol.
Back in the day I had the original sniper 1 and sniper 2 pump autococker. They were so rad! The autococker was always my favorite marker next to the Angel.
I was a die hard autococker player and remember when the E-Blade came out it transformed it into a beast keeping up with the rest of the electric guns.
@@ZeroD86 cockers in particular do need cleaned and greased fairly regularly, but I bet if you do that and maybe put new orings in the 3way and ram it'll run like a top again.

Glad I was part of the very early WGP autococker days! They didn’t have a ball detent milled on the body. You had to send it off or have a pro shop install one.
I dont blame you for the rant. At wc 2001 when the Dye Angels and reflexs came out the Angel was awesome and the reflex felt like a pretty sto, no where near the caliber of anodizing, function, and milling of the Freflows or SFLs.
Dye machining in house gives them one of the biggest advantages in the industry imo... you can get a great looking gun with the best precision machining in house. I think it's a great chance for Dye to show off why that is.
Pro tip: if you don’t want to lose your barrel sock use cow hitch knot on the part around the trigger and you should never lose it unless you untie it so just let your sock hang

Still with Shocktech for the win on boutique Autococker's/ Cocker parts. They machine their own pneumatics, bodies, trigger frames etc. and they have long been at the top of the heap (along with Belsales, and ID) for Cockers, and Cocker parts. M170 over Gmek
