My favorite is Jiff.
ME TOO! didn't even try that
Dark roast
It's pronounced GIF, damn your eyes!
Jif will always be my all time fav!!! Skippy is dry.
During the pandemic, our local grocery stores were frequently out of JIF, but the Skippy shelf remained full. I think JIF definitely wins the popularity contest in our locality; despite the fact that there seem to be 50 different nut butters available.
Might have more to do with supply issues .
Or a product recall. Remember?
@@Goobie77 I remember it well. I had just bought three large jars for my pantry. But I was not referring to those days in my comment. The problem persists to this day every time there is a rush on pantry staples - such as just before a snow storm. The JIF jars disappear and the SKIPPY jars remain. It just seems like JIF is, locally, the more popular brand.
I've always been a Jif guy, it'd be cool to see a chart of the others they show. Like showing who came in 2nd, 3rd ect.
There's a link to the full test in the video description

Kroger makes a wonderful natural peanut butter that isn't made with palm oil but with peanut oil. it's creamy and tastes great!
We agree !!!
I started making my own in a Vitamix and literally nothing compares. I can make is as smooth, crunchy, salty or sweet as I want.
Yup!
Would you be willing to share your recipe or similar?
Yes!!!
Years ago used to do that at the "health food" store and I agree with you completely.
That is how peanut butter should be, no sugar, no added oil and no salt and No fillers. I buy a store brand that grinds their own peanuts and it is just peanuts....I love it, but nothing beats making your own.
JIF always had a stronger peanut flavor to me as I think they roast their peanuts a little longer to get a stronger flavor.
I agree. I also think Skippy tastes like the peanut skin.
Completely agree. I have actually done a taste test between Jif, Skippy, and Peter Pan with friends and Jif won over skippy due to its peanut flavor which everyone described as richer. Peter Pan came a very very distant third.
They either roast them longer or add in "flavor boosters"/"extracts" ( in regards of JIF)
As for Skippy it's a nice choice if you want a more mellow/less sweet peanut butter.
And the only flavor of Peter Pan worth getting is Roasted Honey.
That's ok if you like eating peanut flavored Crisco, Yep, that's what you are eating, Hydrogenated fat is crisco, and even the consistency is the same.
@@tigergreg8 That's damn good Crisco
I LOVE PEANUT BUTTER
Jif, hands down is my fave!
There is another important distinction they neglected to mention between both the "natural" with palm oil and "traditional" with hydrogenated oil vs the ones that are just ground peanuts: dry roasting. If it doesn't say "dry roasted", it means the peanuts were cooked in oil and essentially fried. This can really change the flavor and satiety one might come to expect if they were raised on non-dry roasted peanut butter, like I suspect most of us were. I've actually gotten quite used to the natural dry-roasted peanut butters they grind fresh at my local natural grocery store as they have such an intense peanut flavor and are healthier. However, they will admittedly never give me quite the same sense of satisfaction as the more ubiquitous ones I grew up with and especially with a father that would only allow classic Jif in his house.
“Best” and most healthful are very different things.
For once, this one is both 😊 Here's to Your health 🥜🥜 🥂
I'd like to see a comparison among all the natural peanut butters (no palm oil, just peanuts and salt). I, too, make my own in my blender, but have used Smucker's Natural, and also Justin's
how does JIF not even make it in the running?!?!?!?!?
Really!
Jif would win
Ikr?!
Jif is#1 my favorite Skippy #2 Peter Pan #3
Jif ranked #2
I use Smuckers Natural for all my peanut butter needs, including cookies (that do spread (but I also use the peanut butter cookie recipe from the 1963 Betty Crocker Cooky Book, which may make a difference)).
I have always gotten rave reviews when I make cookies with Smuckers natural!
That's what I use too and it makes good cookies. I tweaked the recipe and refrigerate the dough, and they don't seem to spread anymore than the typical variety does but they do puff up while cooking and go back down while cooling, so the criss cross fork pattern is not as clear.
Wow!!! He explained my issue! Thanks! I made peanut butter cookie bars with natural peanut butter for the first time, a few months ago, and they were VERY DRY.
I've tried Skippy, Jif, Smucker's, and a couple natural ones which are just too sloppy, but I keep coming back to Peter Pan Creamy. Not the "natural" they displayed here, which I've never seen on a shelf. Jif tastes slightly burnt to me, Skippy is a little stiff, but Peter Pan is smooooth, spreadable, peanutty, a touch sweet, yummy and ever my favorite.
I love Peter pan peanut butter too
Although Skippy is good too
Burnt your taste buds are shot lol
Big fan of Teddy Peanut Butter. Two ingredients. Simple and delicious. No need to add sugar and unhealthy chemicals. I bake with it all the time with delicious results.
I agree, peanut butter should be just peanuts and a little bit of salt (or none at all). I never liked Jif or Skippy or any other ja peanut butter, but love fresh ground peanut butter with nothing in it. I will check out Teddie's
i like teddy also except for the stirring part but i asked my mom about that and she said to turn it upside down as soon as it gets home for several days and the oil redistributes and it worked.
@@steveperry1344 That is a fabulous tip! I’m going to start doing this.
@@anonanon1982 when i put it upside down i put it in a bowl just in case the cap leaks and oil all over the counter.
I grew up loving peanut butter and it's one of my favorite things to eat. But I cant eat the peanut butter that's sweetened with palm oils and sugars any more. Smuckers natural or the organic is my favorite. Or I make my own. It just taste better and is better overall for you.
and one more thing: i could binge watch ATK for days
Peter Pan is still my favorite (although I don't use the "natural" one). I honestly don't love Skippy, although I enjoy peanut butter in general so I'll eat pretty much any kind.
A man of taste, I see.
@@timma_thy My peanut butter palate is CLEARLY one of great sophistication. ;)
Peter Pan is my preference, too.
Jif is too salty and tastes a little burnt while skippy has a slight artificial after taste while peter pan is sweet but a more clean roasted peanut flavor
I tried Skippy pb after watching this vid the first time. I went back to Jif when the Skippy was gone. I guess I'm just a Jif guy.
Adams has always been my favorite (it used to be made near my home in Tacoma, WA). Delicious natural butter. I think Smucker's purchased the brand some years ago.
I make peanut butter (thumbprint) cookies with Smucker's, and they're perfect.
The companies they review must be horrified when the tastings don't go well. I'd love to hear stories about that.
Ethan Nickerson smart companies would contact them asking for feedback.
@@kiltymacbagpipe especially Peter Pans reaction. Lol
I know right
Yeah. It motivates them to work harder on their product.
@@leahkornbau217 .....it also motivates the companies to pay the channel for better results
You guys are the best! Keep up the good work
"Jif simply" is also pretty good!🤷🏽♀️
It's Kirkland Organic! Nothing but nuts! Two large jars for ten bucks!
You will taste the goodness compared to the chemical brands!
If only they had crunchy ...
Meanwhile, it's the "natural" Trader Joe's crunchy (blue label)
I like Smucker's peanutbutter. It is just peanuts and nothing else. Which is just how a peanutbutter should be.
I does have a little added salt.
@@firstname4337 They say no added salt on the front but on the back it states less than 1% added salt to the tune of 110 mil. of sodium (1.3 grams of salt) per 33 gram serving. But I get your meaning. 😉
Uh that should be 270 mil of salt. I did the math wrong.
Me too!
The Adams peanut butter is owned my Smuckers fun fact. I’m snacking on it right now ❤️
In Canada, I have always used Kraft . The one closest to your hydrogenated salted sugared is what I grew up with. It is called Kraft Smooth Peanut Butter. Some years ago I switched to Kraft Unsweetened Unsalted Peanut Butter. I wanted to avoid the salt and sugar. In the past two years, I now MIX the original salty sugared, with the unsweetened unsalted, AND an organic crunchy. I get some texture, a bit of salt, its thinner, than the original, but not the runny mess of the all natural. I pour off the head of oil into a separate jar, and use it for frying, and that flavour is amazing. The first two jars go into a stand mixer, and get a good beating, then the crunchy goes in, and stirred just enough to get it all to blend. All goes back into the original jars, and into the fridge. Low salt, low sugar, tons of flavour, with a little crunch ! Yes, you will have a little extra... because of some incorporated air... time for a sammy... I am getting hungry...
Adams natural creamy (unsweetened) is the best!
I grew up with Skippy, and didn't care much for Jif or Peter Pan. But as an adult, I only eat Smucker's Natural, or fresh-ground peanut butter. I've never heard of Adams, but I'll look for it next time I go shopping.
Teddy sitting on the bench like:
"Am I a joke to you?"
the best out of a jar.
@@steveperry1344 I loved Teddie when I lived in Massachusetts, but it's unavailable here in the southwest.
I prefer Smucker's creamy and natural. Basic ingredients. I have a no splash peanut butter crank style mixer that stirs very well. Then I keep the jar in the fridge. When I want a sandwich I leave the jar on the counter for 10 minutes. The lid fits 16-oz jars, hand-wash lid, and is bpa free. Brand I get is "Granpa Witmer's Peanut Butter Mixer." (I'm not affiliated with the company, just a fan.)
Who else is going to try to make those candy like peanut butter cookies with the palm oil peanut butter now because that sounds amazing I’m thinking like brownie brittle but peanut butter that sounds awesome
Right? I was like ooh crispy edges
amazing if you don't care about where palm oil comes from
Some is ecologically sourced. Hopefully you are vegan otherwise 🤦🏼♀️
I started eating Teddies natural PB to get away from the sweet hydrogenated PB (Skippy) that I grew up with. I love, peanut butter. But I don't want it sweetened or hydrogenated. You don't have to have a runny mess with natural PB, if you let it sit and when the oil separates, pour a little bit off. After a while you'll learn how much oil to discard but still keep your PB malleable. I now buy Teddies, "unsalted" crunchy PB and to me it's absolutely the best. I must have it daily, yum!!!
I love the Santa Cruz Dark Roasted Peanut Butter Spread (it also uses palm oil) which I find at health food stores. So much better than any peanut butter I’ve ever had before. Nothing even comes close n
I have to look for that next time I go shopping. I know they must be Organic, that is all I ever eat.
I was always a Skippy man... if you haven't tried the Honey Roasted variety then you should.... I LOVE that more than any peanut butter I've ever eaten
in my life, plus if you get the chunky variety it works so well in Thai peanut sauces, adding an extra bit of sweetness.
I wouldn’t mind the peanut butter I have to stir so much if they provided more room at the top of the jar for proper stirring. So many brands fill it to the top so when it is stirred it spills out down the sides and on to the counter.
Natural peanut butter, if you refrigerate it before it separates it will not separate. If it separates, use a hand mixer or immersion blender to mix it all back up, then put it in the fridge.
Because everyone loves cold peanut butter.
It will be so hard you can’t spread it..... why not just stir it.
I remember a machine in the produce dept. That ground yer pnuts fresh. Good stuff.
@@hymanocohann2698 They still have it here at my grocery.
Yeah, but your bread will be torn to shreds trying to spread cold pb on it. No thanks.
Skippy was always too sweet for my taste. That's why I choose jiff.
So do choosy mothers.
I’m a jif girl... but I also prefer crunchy pb... I do like the honey crunchy pb by Peter Pan which I just eat without jam... or on bananas...
Yes. Honey Roasted Crunchy by Peter Pan for the win!
It’s sooooo good.... even right off a spoon! Absolutely dangerous though as I eat a few spoonfuls in one day!
@@emilybilbow5304 it's good for your heart... Really
Thank you for the great info
We only buy Laura Scudders Old Fashioned Peanut Butter - delicious! We prefer it crunchy but our current jar is smooth. Grandpa Witmer's Old Fashioned Peanut Butter Mixer is really helpful to stir it up when 1st opened.
We had LAURA SCUDDERS OLDE FASHIONED PEANUT BUTTER in our cabinet 😬 !
Can you say addicted!🤤
I’ve had it and it’s ok.
I agree! Love Skippy
Wow, people super excited about peanut butter with all the "woooo"ing at the end😆😆😆😆😆😆
Yeah, the GREAT Donald J. Trump would have to be tasting peanut butter to me THAT excited.
on cue.
Pic’s peanut utter. No salt, no sugar, just tastes great. You will need to come to NZ to try it
Peter Pan peanut butter was in our household before JIF. And then JIF, however, I love the natural peanut butter. Tastes so much better and less sugar. The Skippy natural and Member's Mark no stir natural peanut butter are fire.
I grew up on Jif creamy, and later in life tried Adams to be a bit healthier but never did like it. Eventually found Skippy Super Chunk and love it.
I like the adams for a while. You have to really stir it up which was hard to do for me, then keep it in the fridge. I have come across small jars of sort of generic brands that were very good. I don't by jif or skippy
I use my mixer to solve this problem. Works just fine. But hold on to that jar!
I have never ever tried Skippy. I am currently near out of PB and will buy it now!
Koeze's Cream-Nut Smooth natural peanut butter from Grand Rapids MI is the best. It's a natural butter - Virginia peanuts and salt only - with big peanut flavor. I mix it and store it in the fridge so it doesn't separate. Just 15-20 secs in the micro and it's perfectly spreadable. The smooth version has a very fine texture of peanuts so it's not completely smooth.
I just looked that one up and it has been around for 90 years....I will check that one out for sure (Amazon sells it)...Thanks!
Skippy natural super chunk... yum. Life changing.
I get the natural peanut butter and just pour off some of the oil once I open the jar. Then I stir it up and it’s got a great consistency.
Store natural peanut butter upside down , when you open and need to stir it's easier and not messy , also after mixed store in refrigerator and it will stay mixed.
I just stated doing this. It really works!
Plus you can stir fry with the drained off peanut oil if you do the first suggestion.
@@deanr3417 I just tried that! I made a good stir fry with the peanut oil I poured off. Thanks!
The best peanut butter I’ve had is Santa Cruz. They have a dark roasted chunky version that is insanely good
You are correct!
I like Jiff extra crunchy
Love this duo! ❤
Neat! But I tend to go with Jif.
I use TRADER JOE'S peanut butter.
2 ingredients. $1.99
The BEST peanut butter I have ever had 💜
SOUNDS GOOD
I'll try that at that price, how many ounces in a jar ?
See my comment above! Me too!

Hmmmm... 1.99$..🤔. Have to get some!
I'm a Jif man.
Same.
Yes! Because "choosy Mom's choose Jif!"
@Kenneth Lavens Normally I don't, but we are discussing brand names here. BTW You would never hear me say "I'm a Skippy man". That just doesn't sound right. 😁
I grew up on Jif but now I make my own, which is not nearly as good. The problem with Jif is I can eat way too much. Never have that issue with the healthier kind. I miss my Jif. 😢
No skippy for me
Beware of grinding your own peanut butter at Whole Foods , I did and there was all kinds of mold that came out into the peanut butter . This is because they do not keep the grinder clean ! so just be aware people!
All those dirty hippies... no thanks!
Adam Weisman rude and uncalled for
Blend a jar of honey roasted peanuts in a Vitamix blender. DELICIOUS
Kathie Heath truth hurts.
DevilCruz13 sure! More sugar than regular peanut butter
Jif for traditional peanut butter. Adams for natural. And I have a jar of both because I love dipping apple slices in Adams.
I love Adams peanut butter but haven't been able to find it for weeks.it is made by Smuckers. They also make Laura Scudders. I wonder what the difference is between Adams and Laura Scudders since they both are natural with only peanuts and salt.
I think Laura Scudders is more common on the west coast. I've never heard of Adams. (California girl)
I have some peter pan natural peanut butter now and won't buy any more, but have some of another major brand as well and liked it best. I will be looking for some skippy brand the next time I go shopping and get it to try out.
Hydrogenated oil developed by General Foods for their dry mix products involves bubbling Hydrogen through Soybean oil that creates Omega 5 that the body has to convert to make use, but the process often does not complete which leads to harmful trans fats.
The best peanut butter I've ever had is Pic's, made in New Zealand with Australian peanuts. It will spoil you for any other peanut butter.
my fave is the smuckers. no sugar, stir and blend it, fabulous. imho.
I grew up with Jif and have sworn by it for decades. About 10 years ago, out of curiosity, I tried Skippy. I now prefer Skippy hands down; it tastes more like peanuts to me.
@profjohn9629
Yes skippy tastes just like a peanut. But if I want something that tastes just like a peanut I’ll eat a peanut. Give me Jif!
Adams Natural (chunky style) all the way. Pour off about half of the oil before stirring thoroughly to produce a thicker, less runny peanut butter. Store in the fridge to prevent the oil from separating back out. Natural, clean and delicious.
Do not throw out the oil. Peanut oil to make french fries taste awesome.
Gee what happened to Choosy Moms Chose JIFF
I buy Safeway’s house brand which I find similar to Skippy. Probably made by Skippy.
I grew up eating Skippy b/c that's what mom bought. But I have been buying my own for over 30 years and it is always Smuckers. I like that there is only peanuts and salt. It's messy to eat, but I'm not getting any sugar or artificial crap. And forget about the sandwiches. I just eat it straight from the jar with a spoon.
the answer is Kirkland Brand natural peanut butter
Since Costco does not manufacture any products,
what peanut butter company is it & puts the Kirkland label on it ?
Mike Blank. You’re right, when companies do that, they should include who actually made it on the label.
@@mikeblank7165 their products are made by industry leaders for whatever product it is. It's still a product specific to kirkland signature often held to higher standard than the product the manufacturing company makes and markets.

Will you follow up with a peanut butter in baking evaluation?
Wow, I'm surprised! They picked a brand I can actually get here on the west coast.
I like all of them!
Santa Cruz Organic Dark Roasted Creamy is the best smooth PB thatI've ever tried.
When will America's test kitchen have it's marathon.
My favorite is original Peter Pan. Skippy is good and Jiff too. I use Jiff or Skippy to make peanut butter cookies at Christmas time.
Very interesting, but I’m with Jack. After years of having the natural, unsweetened, no salt style (Trader Joe’s) I just can’t eat the Skippy stuff. To me it taste like peanut flavored Crisco because in reality that’s exactly what it is!
Exactly! And eating hydrogenated oil is probably the worst thing you can do to your health.
I like Teddie the best. Just peanuts. I can't even go back to Jif or Skippy; they are way too sweet to me now.
So, I'm thinking to get a good pb cookie that isn't flat or cake like, combine the two types of PB??
I like my cookies thick and just a little cake like, but couldn't understand why they would always come out flat and crisp. Now I know.
Jif is the best. Don't like Skippy.
I feel like comparing now, but its been Jif around here too.
I grew up eating Skippy, it was always my choice. I shop at Kroger. I started noticing that they were not stocking Skippy or seemed to give much less shelf space to it so I had to start buying Jif instead. I don’t know if it is a regional thing or what. Jif is good but I still prefer Skippy.
Jif has more flavor than skippy imo. And as far as the just peanuts and salt kind, Smucker's organic and Aldi organic are the cheapest ones I can find at 4.00 so I get those. Old Home also has a refrigerated one that is just peanuts and salt and it doesn't have the separation issue. That's a good one too, and only like 3.69 I think. I only wish it came in organic.
If you ever get the chance, try the 99 cent store. MC Traders peanut butter made in India. It was so smooth and good peanut flavor. I'll buy that for a dollar! But, it's no longer available, at least not in Houston TX .
Grew up on Skippy...but then found out how much sugar and other things are in it. So I’ve moved to Adams Natural or fresh ground peanut butter.
Wtf?! Can’t believe you didn’t even have Laura Scudder’s in the lineup let alone not one of the three finalists. Sure, needs a lot of stirring but well worth the effort. Blew this one dude-
Smuckers’s organic creamy is the best. Simple, two ingredients. Peanuts and salt. That’s it. “Peanut Butter”. If you need sugar add jelly or honey. Or whatever else trips your trigger.
I loved Skippy as a kid but now I can't eat it. I like Smuckers natural - you have to keep it flipped upside down for a few days - it makes stirring in the oil easier.
Skippy low sodium is my go to.
I grew up on JIF and Peter Pan in the '70s until I found Skippy low sodium.
I had to rewind to homeboy at 1:41 like 30x lmao. Give that man some peanut butter!
Candy used to be made with palm oil until the soybean and canola lobby kicked them out. More saturated fatty acids I believe. Tastewise, I think it's superior to other vegetable or seed oils. It's also great on your skin.
I've tried all of them and jif is my favorite
Teddie Super Chunky for life!
Teddie is good, but I don't like the grainy, oily texture of it. It's also in a smaller jar for the same price as Jif.
My son will only let me buy Skippy. It had the best ratings in Consumer Reports when he was a toddler and it is still top rated 30 years later.
The more infomercials I get to watch the better.
I HATE the infomercial style of ATK…
They need to try Earth Balance Coconut oil peanutbutter. Stuff is delicious!😊
