- In the video I am using a Barf Diet for dogs and transitioning my PitBull to a Raw Food Diet for beginners. A Barf diet is really beneficial for all dogs and raw food diet can be a healthier source for all dogs with the right raw food diet plan. A biologically appropriate raw food diet recipe is really easy to create , here I show you my dogs first meal from kibble to raw ground beef. I use there ingredients for his barf diet and is great for raw feeding you dog on a budget.

When I got my pitty Roscoe, he was kept in a kennel 23/1 . 100% aggressive. I had him broke in just 1 session. When I fed him the 1st time, he snapped and growled at me. So i took it back from him. Made him sit. And when I replaced it, i literally put my face in it, no joke, and he stared at me and crept up, sniffed, nuzzled and licked my face, and proceeded to eat. Not once after that, has he been food aggressive. Maybe not the best way, but It was a strength of show of respect. And he has been bound to my side ever since.

My Bully loves Barf diet. I also do this with Kibble for filler. For me it is expensive, but I love my dog.

I mix it up a bit depending on what I have on hand, but always try to balance his meals with the highest nutritional values. His meals look something like: 80/20 Ground beef (or beef chunks, chicken wings or breast, beef liver or lamb) 2 sardines (or 4-5 oysters, or lightly poached salmon), cooked sweet potato (sometimes white) chunks, organic strawberries and/or blueberries, 1 farm fresh whole egg & egg shell powder, quarter of ripe avocado chunks, farm fresh sweet peas straight from the pods, organic baby spinach ( or seaweed salad when I have it), plain organic full fat greek yogurt, homemade spice mix (tumeric, cinnamon, ginger, mushroom powders and pepper), zinc tablet and Vit D hidden in food once/day. He loves it! Oh, and I transitioned from a dog bowl to a large plastic plate. I don't mix the food together, so he eats around the plate in the order that floats his boat.
Wow!! That looks like my diet haha Love it!! I am a real advocate of healthy eating. My pit puppy will arrive in 2 weeks and Iam already watching everything I can about pits! And Ive never had a dog before so I am feeling a bit anxious and overwhelmed!! So I ll deff do my research abour barf diet. Wish me luck!! :)

Don't mix the kibble with raw directly. When transitioning little bit of kibble for breakfast and raw for dinner. Nice dog man.

Best tipped I learned was to bake the eggshells untill dry and then grind them up until it's a powder.

How dont you get flies or bugs with having raw food out? Also could you post like the 3 meals and type of vegetables you feed.
Dont leave it out, only put the food out when you know they'll eat it, also wash that bowl right after they're done eating

The only thing is the raw and processed (kibble) will be digested by the dogs stomach at different times (kibble takes longer) which can cause issues...you may be better off just feeding straight raw and allowing the dogs stomach to adjust to the new diet...which in time it will.

I have bully and I feed her both premium kibble and BARF raw because I want her to be able to tolerate everything, however I alternate, on the days which she eats raw it's quite clear to see she digests it faster and more efficiently than the days she eats kibble. Even when I used to mix ( feed raw and kibble for treats) she would pass stool at different times with varying weight and consistency. Of course this is just anecdotal and there simply just isn't enough evidence to be conclusive on the matter hence the reason I said *can cause issues. I suppose it'll either cause issues or a tolerance but either way people should be aware of any potential issues with the mixing method.

Question... I have a really active adult mixed breed woman. We are outside most of the day & she gets lots of sunlight walks during the day everyday so for breakfast I give kibble. when we are out during the day, I have her snack on cucumbers carrots strawberries & blueberries, water throughout the day. then when we get home I feed her a big bowl of raw meats, pee & then bed. I’m trying to transition her but I’m afraid of over feeding or her not getting enough food during the day to maintain energy but I don’t want her to get lousy during the day. What should I do?

I have a 6 month old American pit and I wanted to introduce her to barf. She’s currently eating dry kibble (call of the wild salmon), since I’m going to be transitioning her too to barf can I add salmon oil to her raw food (she has allergies) or is it best to keep the kibble mixed with the raw.
Are chia seeds okay for dogs because it's great source of calcium or it will harm them
I like to pound the shell with a pilon(mortar and pestle) just in case, I have a pug and I am worried the shells will cut her up inside.
This is on the cheap side. If I'm going to this extent to feed raw diet, I'm certainly not feeding veggies out of a can

It wouldn’t be to expensive for me because the meat store near my house sells 5 packs for 20 and it also does 5 for 20 on eggs and canned foods so I’m gonna try this out

Small bowl= eating slower = better digestion/less chance of choking

How do you wash the bowl after the meal? Do you wash the bowl in a special way to avoid bacteria?

No definitely not , think of it like wheat cereal with a few veggies and meat on top , and everything else mush made from preservatives and meat by pass such as wool and hooves.
Good vid, but i prefer salmon oil or linseed oil instead of coconut. They contain more Omega 3 fatty acids than Omega 6. i think it's more healthy for dogs and humans.
I dont know about the salmon oil but i know salmon meat may contain parasites called anisakid nematodes that are deadly for dogs so you always want to freeze it and then cook it first to protect your furry family member.
I just got a bully pit that was being mistreated in her previous house and would love to incorporate a raw diet but unfortunately the pricing is a little bit too steep right now, great video though!!
Adding in meats and eggs with kibble helps a lot too , so like 10 dollars weekly section off some beef , freeze it and mix in what you need , and using what ever eggs you got ,

I feed my Bully twice a day. If you feed him once he'll still want to eat again later(At least mine does) I personally don't think it's a good idea to give your dog all that food at once. May cause indigestion problems.
Can you sub the ground beef with boiled white chicken?
Yes! Some dogs are allergic to chicken so just be careful. Also cooked bone is dangerous for your dog I wouldn’t advise any cooked bones.

Totally opposite. Kibble will encourage plaque build up. Uncooked bone or something safe and abrasive to scrape against the teeth keeps plaque off. Imagine a wolf who doesn't eat kibble and needs it's teeth to survive rotting out its teeth. Never seen a bad mouth wolf, only pet dogs who eat kibble.
