Honestly as a fighting game fan in general I'm really proud of SF6 for winning very well deserved and it motivates the other fighting games out there to improve and honestly Mk1 has alot of potential for it being as good as street fighter 6 , if not even better

MK 1 doesn't even have the costume select. Meanwhile in SF6 you can even choose the character theme songs before the match.

SF6 has:
•a better roster with all the OGs
•a better functioning game
•better mechanics(Drive System > Kameo System)
•better and not “censored” skins (no woke)
•more characters compared to the previous game

I wouldn’t agree on roster and skins, though. Roster of 1 actually have something that fans wanted for long via 3D era reps and 11 also had censored skins, but still was fine. Real problem not the woke, but how NRS/WB actually “share” them
Definitely doesnt have a better roster then mk1 especially with sagat vega and balrog gone and as far as mechanics/fighting gameplay it's opinionated depending on who you ask

Not to mention that in comparison to SFV it has more characters while in MK1 Sonya is missing, Jade is literally replaced by Tanya(1 black girl out the other one in), and also there’s no Jax(do not come back at me with “they are kameos” please) and we have 2 characters fewer than in MK11 and MKX

I really hate the argument that less gear pieces is better, because MK11 decided to make some insignificant crap as the gear pieces. Like Skarlets drink bottle, or Shangs individual belt items.
They can just decide to give us better things to change, like Hairstyles, Masks and weapons/gauntlets. Even if some characters like Baraka only get one thing to change, characters like Kitana and Mileena should have 3.
I hate that I can't change their mask because someone decided that weapons are better, despite the fact the weapons move so fast you barely see them. It's bullsht imo
Who cares about Geoff Keighley's vanity awards?? You can apply everything you said here to when MK11 lost to Smash Ultimate in 2019 and MK11 marched along just fine. MK1 will be fine.
I agree ultimately awards in gaming have little impact, if anything positive quotations from media reviews is still significantly more valuable. If something gets ‘game of the year’ it’s a bonus but it’s not catastrophic.
It might be a bit different if it was a objective in development that it aimed to win but I’m sure that beyond positive coverage that strong sales at start is more important.
At most this will be a feedback exercise from them in finding out why they missed out as 10% of the vote is from fans also.

Gameplay wise, MK1 is fantastic. However, gameplay wise SF6 is also fantastic, AND it’s amazing in multiple other categories as well.
It was always going to win this and rightfully so.

The problem with this mindset is the whole "it's coming, it's coming. Give us some time to add it", while asking for a full $70 for hopes and dreams, now wasting years of the games life just to play catch-up and be on par. Meanwhile, SF6 charge $60 ($10 less), for an absolute, complete package, now using the lifespan of the game's time not playing catch-up, but further adding and making it even better.
We need to stop giving these companies the slap on the wrist. They're not our friends and rightfully deserved to be scoffed at for overcharging and under delivering with empty promises.
You wouldn't pay full price for a pizza if they told you to the cheese will come later. Come back to eat it alone and just enjoy the bread and sauce now.

I have a feeling that NRS is planning a complete overhaul of the online infrastructure as a whole instead of just adding in crossplay and lobbies.
I feel that they know that it needs to be implemented and they have been extremely quiet about any sort of timeline.
We all know that this game was meant for a spring 2024 launch. It's so obvious. No other NRS game has come out in the fall. They literally added the basics to meet WBs timeline.
I wouldnt be surprised if by April or at least by the time Takeda comes out; that it will be a completely different game than how it launched.
I can speak as a big street fighter guy that Mk1 launch reminds me of Street Fighter 5's launch which had many similar issues like mk1 had. Lack of content, server issues, the laughable story mode, and generally lack of single player content the only thing you couldve done was play survival mode when the servers were down. But after several updates people turned around and loved it a lot. So, I feel Mk1 is on that track and with the steady guests that can draw players back its all about NRS playing their cards correctly. But for sure SF6 definitely deserved this way better than SFV
MK1 is not on track if the focus is on guest characters. That means they're focusing on DLC, rather than rectifying issues in the game matter (lcough cough the online).

Hot take but I think the 3 gear options was better than 1 in mk1, for example the you can’t take off the masks for Mileena, Kitana, Rain or change ashrah hat ect
I think we should at least change the masks for all these characters. I was so used to it in MK11 that the fact that they took it away from certain characters in MK1, like Mileena and Kitana, that it makes customization in MK1 feel subpar compared to MK11.
I mean, does it really matter? Are people going to suddenly drop the game because it didn't win an award to its competitor? No.
Does the average fan care if their favorite game wins an award? No.
Is anyone going to not buy the next Resident Evil because it didn't win GOTY? No.
The game has sold as well as SF6 and will sell a lot more in the long run, as did MK11. I enjoy the game more than SF6 and it still had more characters even at launch than SF6 does right now after six months. The Game Awards don't matter but I guess you just have to make it a ten-minute video anyway.
PS: I would be more concerned for when Tekken 8 comes out. That looks like it's going to be huge. I'll be playing MK1 and Tekken 8 all the time though.

It's all good. I've been playing MK1 since day one. I've noticed it's a huge community playing this, no problem! I've got the Platinum Trophy, maxed out all Characters, earned every weekly exclusive skin, God Rank in Kombat League, and participate active and A.F.K. in King of the Hill. Moral of the Story! I've used the whole product! With that being said, watch everybody change they tune when MK get everything everyone desires. I've always had full faith in MK. They get all their content on the back end. One year from now, this will be a totally different game, different experience. They don't have everything at launch, and I went in knowing that. Great video as usual!!!

I bought both Games on day 1 and I mostly play Mk1 because it visually looks good man! I love the combo system and I spend most of my time in practice. Only problem I have is Invasions could have been better. As for SF6 what more can I say? They have it all, Fresh Gameplay mechanics, Battle Hub, & very detailed practice mode you can't help but master. My only problem is the Capcom ID issue. Meaning without it, you can't enjoy the Online features let alone even play online! that means 70$ down the 🤬ing Drain! But that's another Topic. Lol
I didnt play both yet, but saw the vídeos in social medias and I agree, sadly because the MK is hands down my favorite. THX a lot my English is quick and dirty from Brazil

Nope. And I not mad either. I thought MK9 & MK11 set the bar but MK1 just seemed more of a cash grab than enjoying the game for what was offered.
I just grabbed the $35 winter sale $70 for any game now is just shareholder greed. Games used to be $40-$50 growing up.
Capcom's Comms Team did a great job with the rollout generating tons of hype and highlighting all the excellent work from development teams.

Mk1 with this time line noncence and characters always having new ethnicities in each release. It's a mess. SF6 stays true to its identity. MK lost it's identity even selling classic skins but PGing the sex appeal they used to have, the Classic Nitara skin I'm not having it. Atleast SF is not afraid of being sexy... SF6 stayed true to its identity. MK1 is just a; no thank you for me.
MK characters just look different all together each game sucks they probably cant use the same face models for most of the games. And all in all MK1 is just plain boring after a while they needed something more to it than being meh like how some parts of the stories were at least Street fighter is somewhat more enjoyable.

MK1 lost to Street Fighter due to the create a player option. It just adds more depth to the game. Street fighter has a heads up now, and all they have to do is continue to improve on their games in the future and they will continue to be ahead. MK1 should have included the create a player option in MK1, and had it be more in depth, and they would have absolutely killed it, they would have gotten game of the year. They need to start listening to what the fans want because there have been many fans that have been asking for all the things that Street fighter has to be included in Mortal Kombat, such as a create a player. They dropped the ball with this MK release.
Well, you see Mortal Kombat 1 doesn't have Avatar Battle that is one reason why Street Fighter 6 is better than Mortal Kombat 1. Mortal Kombat 1 can have an Avatar battle or Create a fighter if they confirm Create a Fighter is making a return I wish tho but no don't see it making a return at all been 20 years we haven't have Create A Fighter making returns in Modern Mortal Kombat games since 2006
The ending of the story I was almost certain it meant custom fighters would be coming.
Basically sf6 did a great job , mk1 decided to just rebuild the game from scratch, and have the basic features in, there4 to meet the launch deadline, so im sure they'll just add the other content ppl expect from a mk game as time gies by, like stage fatalities, maybe friendships, pits, and animalities, it makes since that way like ed boon said the game will be supported for years to come on his last interview he said this

That's not really the reason it was pushed out early, WB is greedy and was promising investors it would release in 2023 before we even had an official announcement for the game and Suicide Squad getting delayed probably made WB push even harder for MK to drop even if it wasn't finished. Welcome to 2023, where pleasing investors is more important than integrity with your consumers
6 is a far better overall game but mk fans such as ourselves will still love mk1 while aware of the issues
Mortal kombat is very good, but STREET FIGHTER 6 is better ...MORTAL KOMBAT 11 was better thon the last one, And the SF gameplay is the best. The LOR was rebooted...And CAPCOM did à great job..!

SF6 launched with a perfect online mode, perfect practice mode. meanwhile mk1s campaign launched with 3 cut characters, bugs we havent seen in an nrs game ever. mk1 wouldve faired alot better if it came this month or next, as it stands now, it is unfinished, buggy and is selling cut campaign characters to us as DLC.
Don’t get me wrong I Enjoy Mortal Kombat 1 it might be the most fun I’ve had playing a mortal kombat game since Mortal Kombat X but the best fighting game award was definitely deserved for Street Fighter 6 I enjoy its gameplay, the world tour mode, The Online is so smooth, and just a ton of content I hope Mortal Kombat 1 can keep improving to be a better game cause I really want MK1 to be a good game that people will be playing for years just hoping NRS is taking all the feedback and listening to the community for a overall better experience

MK as a fighting game in general is cool and all, but as a competitive fighting game it always been sucked and sucks since.
Its what i have been saying. Street Fight 6 came out as a fully realized game with content on day 1 and they will then add more to an already great game, and for me the creating characters to fight with is fun in world tour. MK 1 released unfinished with really nothing to do, invasion is boring and super grindy, less gear than MK11 which did matter for customization where you could change more things than you can in MK1. What does customizing Mileenas Sai in MK 1 do either than barely be seen and after a week i stopped playing cause i found it boring which is sad cause i have always played MK games like crazy. We should not have to wait for god knows how long for a game to be great after spending our hard earned money because the company chose to release an unfinished game rather than give us our moneys worth.
Not surprised they shafted some of their best characters in the story mode - can someone say Scorpion, Kitana, ect - story mode sucked other than Reptile and Ashrah, and Mortal Kombat gave into fear with their twitter fans instead of creating a great game - content is way better - serves em right

If there were no microtransactions. There could have been a lot of customers buying the game. But this was Warner bros fault for being greedy. Also mk1 could not have dragon crystals to purchase items. Everyone could have purchased them with seasonal credits. That's my 2 cents on this mk1. But maybe next time Warner bros should listen to the fans.

Thats the Only thing I Don’t Like about MK1 Invaision is the Character Mastery that takes to long to get all those masterys to unlock all the characters 2nd Fatalities thats the only Let down should have a double XP token of some sort or special events that give you double XP to finish each character faster
I said it once and I’ll say it again, if MK1 dropped earlier in the year, and it got a decent amount of DLC and other features up to this point, it DEFINITELY would’ve won. Street fighter 6 got boring mad quick. But NRS got fighter of the year hella times already so no big deal

@@migueljr501 It's the fact that it did drop so early. I don't think the game was actually finished when it was released. The online connections is mediocre, and the game was really buggy on release. Not to mention Invasion mode isn't as good as World Tour.
If WB actually let the finish the game, it would've had a better chance.

I'm still going to prefer MK1 over SF6, given the fact that for DLC content, Mortal Kombat franchise always has guest characters and this is something that Street fighter doesn't have until what I heard that now they are including a guest character in SF6 if I'm not mistaken
Having the MK franchise rely on guest characters just shows that netherealm don't have faith in it's own franchise, It's pathetic really.
I hope Capcom don't follow suit and add any guest characters, Capcom has been doing fine without any guest characters for 36 years.

@@AnonymousC2218 You seem to misunderstood the fact that having guest characters is a bad thing for Mortal Kombat which it's not, everyone has their own opinions, but I do believe having them in Mortal Kombat it makes it very interesting, everyone always imagined seeing any characters from different franchises that gets to be in the game, interacting with characters, what their bio is to be in Mortal Kombat universe, and especially how brutal they can be, the developers are always interested to include any characters in Mortal Kombat but they had to ask permission from the owners first in which Ed did say that there's going to be more guest character is but since some people think it's going to be six characters again, which the last time we had only three characters each, which is two DLC characters and one guest character, but I guess let's see what happens even if some links may end up be true which I don't like
@@chimpo961 I haven't misunderstood anything, having guest characters shows how bad MK1 is. J.K Simmons, John Cena, Antony Starr (possibly) and Megan Fox as Nitara most of budget went to these actors when it could've went into the game making it complete.
I hear Tekken is the way to go. I have Mortal Kombat 1 and like it, but they should have made more tag teams than Kameo.
It’s nice to see that every MK UA-camr is collectively like “well NRS took an L, better to work harder.” we had 11 win last time it was nominated, so as long as NRS ups their game and they improve the game, maybe it can be a bit more of a rival to SF6
Correction, MK11 won only when its ultimate version rolled out. Its base version actually lost to Smash Ultimate back in 2019, but hope 1 just will come through same situation here.
SF6 has superior netcode and content. But MK1 has better gameplay but online netcode is abysmal with single player and customization is abysmal.
Street Fighter 6 has a really small Roster and its going to charge for nearly 80 characters but SF6 is notorious for taking a very long time to patch and balance and add DLC.
MK1 is suffering because WB is being audited by Discovery and owe around 15M copies to be sold.
For WB/NRS to come out even they gonna have to sell 10M more copies or keep making tons of pay for Skins and DLC.
They released MK1 9+ months early because if this. I don't blame NRS
I’m a Tekken fan before any other fighting game but I would always play MK over SF. I just don’t like the play style of sf. I like the characters like sagat balrog bison but the game itself I could never really get into.

Since I’m Both a hugh Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat Fan I’m happy that Street Fighter 6 won and I did not play street fighter 5 is because it was only on PS 4 because of being Exclusive to PS4 Thata so Stupid so Please Capcom bring a Remaster 4K Ultra HD Version of Street Fighter 5 to Xbox Series X/S

Street Fighter 6 definitely deserved to win over MK1. SF6 is one of the best Fighting games ever made

I've never been a SF fan and 6 doesnt impress me. MK1 is an excellent game, it just has some issues like stuttering and releasing missing some things. I dont think that makes SF an obvious sweep
The only reason you could prefer MK1 is for subjective things like preferring the characters or gameplay. SF6 just offers way more as a game.
@kye4216 I mean yes. But as far as super fluid and easy fighting games go I'd still stick with like the Dead or Alive series over SF. It's really just about the ascetics and how they never have appealed to me. I like the raw grittyness of MK and dont care for the flashy anime style and colors of SF.
