why not just unwind that bottom locking nut up to where you want to lower the car to and then wind the coilover down so that locking nut locks again -- it'll save the constant measuring
so that top one under the large perch needs to be fully tightened at all times correct? if i do tighten it all the way to to the large perch will it disturb my preload ? thanks ! great vid
hey man, so it's ok to make sure the top locking nut is tight. like it won't mess with the preload if it moves??...reason I ask is because I just got coilovers put on and rattling has developed in the rear. I briefly checked yesterday and was able to slightly move the top locking nut with my hand.
great vid bro. i recently installed bc coils on my fx35 and i needed a refresher on how to adjust the height. the instructions on the booklet suck so good titorial.👍👋
There is a view hole in the base of the coil over. So when raising the car instead, what happens with that view hole? Are we supposed to still see the threaded body inside it? Or can it threaded higher than it by any amount? Thanks.
NOPE! The thread should remain within the view hole. Not half showing etc, completely covering the view hole. It's also there for drainage, and can be used to lubricant the thread.
+Blu811 depends on the car mine i can adjust the fronts but not the rears i had to buy crash bolts to fix the rear and even then it was still out a little.
You should watch this video. I also messed up my preload and had a ton of squeaking noises. Watched this video and the noise went away completely. ua-cam.com/video/yUAYJNe2cfo/v-deo.html
Hmmm as for resetting the pre load I’m not too sure because the BC’s come pre set. However you may be able to call your manufacturer to get specs and possibly instructions on how to do this
For some reason I did it differently, that bottom ring I did not even use, instead I just used the two top rings to lower the car and just adjust the height, will anything different happen since I did that, my car rides the same like the first time, and it's lower like I wanted it.
Anthony Reed The only thing I did is loosen the top bottom ring and bring it down lower and used the top ring to bring down the height by turning it to the left until it reached the top bottom ring and just tighening them together. It worked well, felt great, who knows.
Aaron Castillo BCs over yellowspeed, as long as you at least get the BC dr series or better. the br series are entry level with no digressive dampening.
Hello I have a question, I recently tried installing my bc coils and the shaft isn’t turning. I’m not sure what to do next and I was wondering if you had any tips or answers that could help
Hey sir can you help me.. I did the same procedure the only difference is that the coil spring is not rotating.. In your vid the spring are rotating also with the tube
Katsu LA sometimes to get them to move you may have to use a pipe wrench but try to use some kind of rubber pad between the threads and the teeth so the teeth don’t damage the threads
+Anthony Reed ya I watched another video on how you can reset the preload I just gotta find out what my preload actually is. Mine came set from BC also but I adjusted mine wrong. Just adjusted the 1st and 2nd rings like regular coils
Ohhh yea they were lol. I replaced them long ago I have a much better braking system now. Installed drilled and slotted rotors steel beaded brake lines, new calipers as well as some stop tech centric pads
Coming here to say great video! Great info! Shout out to you and Garrett
Oh yeah man thanks
you should have raised the bottom nut a half inch and just kept turning until it was flush :)
You smawt.
EPCOT NERD so where's the proper video on how to do this
Normal Everyday Regular Dude N.E.R.D. Lol
My Guy
Ty on the proper demosnstration.
Ty
Gonna save 4 these
You are welcome
Nice and descriptive video. Thanks for the upload. By the way, your camera man has some steady hands! Hahaha
Thank you yea I had trouble finding a good video on how to adjust mine so once I learned I decided to make one
Thank you! I would have immediately done the top if I were to guess, so this is great. Very helpful. Cheers!
CE Volvo sure thing !

Alex Cook so where's the proper video on how to do this
Alex Cook you can do it that way but it eyeballs aren't exact
Big brain time 🧠 🤯
That's the first I said to myself when he started the adjustment process. Lol
Do you need a alignment afterwards?
I cant tell you how much this helped
Owen Laue awesome I’m glad it helped
Garret is awesome! lol great vid man
Question brother, how tie the springs need to be? Should i tie them as much as i can?
+Weijian Huang im assuming u mean how tight well thats a tricky question that all depends on your spring rate but they really should move freely
I got it, Thanks for replying.
Cool
I thought the springs shouldn't be lose. Or your pre-load will have no-load...
so that top one under the large perch needs to be fully tightened at all times correct? if i do tighten it all the way to to the large perch will it disturb my preload ? thanks ! great vid
Please make a video on the rear coil over adjustment!!!!

I followed your steps but when I turn it to the left the spring doesn't move with the shock.
what about the rear coilovers?
carlos perez it’s the same on my car
That's a good question I've never had two sets side by side to compare but if I do I will check on that
great vid bro. i recently installed bc coils on my fx35 and i needed a refresher on how to adjust the height. the instructions on the booklet suck so good titorial.👍👋
mondo Gamino glad it helped !!
correct u want the threads to turn with the top adjuster the small one is a locking but essentially
Logically, if the bottom lock ring is loose, cant you just use the top strut bolt to turn it easier?
can u please make a video how to adjust the "Rear coilover "?
its the same homie
for these coils, you can adjust camber as it is straight from the manufacturer without any kits or any sorts correct?
+Blu811 depends on the car mine i can adjust the fronts but not the rears i had to buy crash bolts to fix the rear and even then it was still out a little.
How do you reset preload because I definitely messed mine all up 🤦🏼♂️
You should watch this video. I also messed up my preload and had a ton of squeaking noises. Watched this video and the noise went away completely.

Where can I get the BC racing coil over tool?
Pat Roell I would say most likely on their website
I ordered mine from the BC site.
what do u think about coilovers?is it better to but them or should i stick to simple air controller?
wellinilli depends on what your cars purpose is
yes an alignment is a good idea also it was a 94 celica gt
For some reason I did it differently, that bottom ring I did not even use, instead I just used the two top rings to lower the car and just adjust the height, will anything different happen since I did that, my car rides the same like the first time, and it's lower like I wanted it.
Sounds to me like you used the spring to lower it. If that's the case you've changed your preload as well!
Anthony Reed Is changing the preload bad, should I just leave it like that?
Anthony Reed The only thing I did is loosen the top bottom ring and bring it down lower and used the top ring to bring down the height by turning it to the left until it reached the top bottom ring and just tighening them together. It worked well, felt great, who knows.
Cristian Rosales yea bc typically sets the preload according to what you order! I would contact them before going any further
Anthony Reed I guess I'll give them a call and see what's up, but I appreciate the help.
thanks for listening don't you mean things for watching
redbaron2448 sure
what do you think of yellowspeed coilovers compared to buddy club
Aaron Castillo BCs over yellowspeed, as long as you at least get the BC dr series or better. the br series are entry level with no digressive dampening.
Hello I have a question, I recently tried installing my bc coils and the shaft isn’t turning. I’m not sure what to do next and I was wondering if you had any tips or answers that could help
aig 111 are they used coilovers or brand new
Anthony Reed brand new. I installed them and took a ride in them and then came back to see if I could lower it and it just wouldn’t turn the shaft
aig 111 that’s crazy they should turn brand new with little effort. Mine are 3 years old and I can still turn two of them by hand.
aig 111 might be a good idea to contact the manufacturer
Anthony Reed Ah alright thanks for the help!
Can you make another demonstration with just Garrett plz
Haha gloves on this guy
im sure his girl appreciates not having grease all up in her poon :p
@@Dubinski_4A she doesn't i know bc i don't wear gloves
@@Vestin732 she does not know? Because YOU don’t wear gloves? Man go to school and learn some grammar.
@@THXIIIRTEEN ok keyboard commando
@@Vestin732 ur in ur 30s 😹
Can you use any spanner wrench for coils?
I am not sure on that never had 2 sets to test them on
Ok..i ended up buying originals..ty
Srry I swear I thought I responded so srry about that probably better off that way
So in order to higher the coilovers do I just do the same thing but in counterclockwise?
Yes precisely
Thanks! :)
Hey its no problem
Just bought a 240sx with these. I think the guy who out them in adjusted them wrong
Sergio Ortiz that's very possible he did never the less you'll get it
Hey sir can you help me.. I did the same procedure the only difference is that the coil spring is not rotating.. In your vid the spring are rotating also with the tube
it's fine if the spring doesn't it's not really supposed to
+Anthony Reed sir thank you so much for the quick answer! Now i will not worry that i crap my pre-load! Thanks!
+joseph civic no problem
What kind of car was this?
its a 94 celica gt
are you lowering? so lowering is to left?
Yes
Lowering you go clockwise, raising it up is counter clockwise
hard to understand that. so spanner to left or right?
Lowering you turn the wrench towards you, raising back up you go away from you with the wrench.
great video and clear
HYPE WARRIOR!! Awesome glad it helped
You should show how to adjust the rear .. with the spring and strut separate
Abel J Perez honestly haven’t messed with that style yet
there's absolutely no reason to super lock those adjustment rings.
HI GARRETT!
So I’ve had my coil overs for about 6months and want to go lower but the bitch won’t turn, what can I do to make it easier to turn?
Katsu LA sometimes to get them to move you may have to use a pipe wrench but try to use some kind of rubber pad between the threads and the teeth so the teeth don’t damage the threads
his how you adjust the front and rear
Garret 🙌
Good vid
+Miki Do thank you
so to make it higher again u just do the same with but the other way i guess
Indeed
Anthony Reed alright thanks
Thanks for the video! btw, GO BUCKEYES!
Hi Garrett! :)
NICE BRAKES
+Dylan Springer brakes have all been replaced and are black now
hi garrett
thanks!
yea u should have the top locked
Feel free to leave comments
if u can move the spring around chances are your preload is already off
so to get the preload right you just adjust those locking rings back up to where that spring is snugged up.
+Josh Morgan yes and no that may be enough but u may need more. my preload cane set from bc. so I didn't have to set mine
+Anthony Reed ya I watched another video on how you can reset the preload I just gotta find out what my preload actually is. Mine came set from BC also but I adjusted mine wrong. Just adjusted the 1st and 2nd rings like regular coils
Bc racing coilovers was a nightmare for me...
why
they are pretty simple why was it a nightmare
your name is a spelling B nightmare!!
Never tap on metal unless you love rust coming to your life later if not sooner 🤭
You needed brakes there bud.. those rotors are gone
Ohhh yea they were lol. I replaced them long ago I have a much better braking system now. Installed drilled and slotted rotors steel beaded brake lines, new calipers as well as some stop tech centric pads
no one shows how to do the rear
On my car the rear is the same. What kind of car do you have
Looks like you need rotors homie
rotors have since been taken care of
I think you need some new rotors
Milhouses45 they were replaced a very long tile ago haha
Nice painted rotors dummy
