This looks like an amazing system. Way better than Metrolink imo. Seems nice and clean, and the fare payment system seems well executed and easy to use. Not to mention the AWESOME S70s! Very nice video!
The blue line is getting extended into St. Louis Park and Eden Prairie starting in the Spring of 2019. They have actually talked about doing it for about 20 YEARS, but are finally doing it... And as far as the light rail goes how it is now, I still like it (even though I've only ridden it once). This is one of the few light rails in the US that runs 24 hours a day (well, only the blue line does, but still). The motors on these sound super cool too!
It is seriously awesome not to drive to the mall, and especially to not have to drive home after the sensory overload and exhaustion of being at the mall.
If you ever come up to Canada you should check out the system in Toronto, or Calgary. Toronto we have Bombardier Flexity Outlook's and soon to get Flexity Freedom's on the upcoming "Line 5" Eglington Crosstown. Although Bombardier has been not doing soo good, and has failed several times to deliver vehicles on time or at all. Soo bad the provincial transit gency Metrolinx ordered trams from Alstom as back up.
And the award for most generic transit agency name goes to... I realize many transit agencies have the name ‘Metro Transit’. They all share that award.
I can tell because of the reader board in the middle of the train car where it tells us what the next station is. I don't think Minneapolis light rail has S70s before because they used a long beep for the announcement tone.
Can someone please tell me(only if u know) does the Type 1 Bombardier have 1 or 2 bells because sometimes am goona hear(usally) the bell at 2:34 and sometimes am goona hear the one at 0:55 someone please help am genuinely confused is the bell at 0:55 a distorted bell of the one at 2:34 but chiming at different times because the bells comes out of all 3 Cars??
tkefan29 I like the Flexity Swift bell sound way better. The S70s have a really bad layout - the ones here in Minnesota have really tight seating areas
I'm from New York City and we no longer have " street cars" here as most know. Street cars were closer to buses. What I see here with modern light rail is basically a low floor train with 3 flexible cars attached together. This is akin to 6 New York City A division smaller subway cars. 😳 In other words...those are long assed street cars!
I love the sound of those Bombardier's! Classic to me.
The weird thing though, it’s Toshiba propulsion there on Bombardier Flexity, not Bombardiers.
@@beavermuffin Oh really? I didn't know there were different setups!
I realize I'm pretty off topic but do anybody know of a good site to stream new movies online?
the thing is the horn sounds as the K5LA of the la metro P865 and P2020
I do not have Bombardier Flexity Swifts on my light rail
Well this whole video hits different

it's a terrible system

Ya I know I saw in news
Actually it is the Green line that is getting extended to Eden Prairie. The Blue line extension will be heading northwest to Brooklyn Park.
The Northeast suburbs are getting WAY too less attention by Metro Transit
Arguably the best way to get to the mall.

Even though Chicago does have Metra and CTA a system like this would be beneficial to serve certain areas what lack public transit access.
There are now three types of LRV's in Minneapolis:
Bombardier LF-70
Siemens S70
Siemens S700 (successor of S70)
Oh really?
And the award for most generic transit agency name goes to...
I realize many transit agencies have the name ‘Metro Transit’. They all share that award.
Generic name, but a neat system!
That chime reminds me of the Houston metro rail and the uta trax train
I think they use S70s there too.
I can tell because of the reader board in the middle of the train car where it tells us what the next station is. I don't think Minneapolis light rail has S70s before because they used a long beep for the announcement tone.
Yes, both of those systems use S70s. And the ones on TRAX have the same door closing chime.

AWESOME SEIMENS S70!!!!
Isnt it though? I love Bombardier's heavy rail vehicles, but Siemens is the best in light rail by far.
tkefan29 I like the Flexity Swift bell sound way better. The S70s have a really bad layout - the ones here in Minnesota have really tight seating areas
The horn of Siemens S70 and S700.
Why didn’t they show: the state Capitol building, TCF stadium?
I didn't see it, so I'm wondering if you went up to to Target Field?
We didn't go that far.
Overused bell sound.
*My local light rail has s70s and I love the sound of them*
oh yeah *FIRST*
OtisL Personally, I like the Flexity Swift sound better

good video!!!!!!!!
How long it takes you to get down to downtown?
5 minutes
From the other end of the line it takes about 40 minutes on average.
its weird that the flexity swift only serves blue line
Probably because that was the original line and the swift were the original vehicles.
oh
Actually rarely, You will see 1-2 Bombardier talent flexity swifts LF-70 on the green line usally at night time
good trains
This is a neat train system.
47:43 Mall Of America station
how do you get a go to card?
I honestly forgot what I did lol
oh
12:05 10th Street station
Light rail doesn't need gates at level crossings nor constant ding dong ding dong.
Could you provide me official government documentation stating that?
@@crabbydaddy3641 Could you provide me official government documentation stating otherwise?
@@crabbydaddy3641 See San Francisco Muni Metro...
Nelson Ricardo I guess you don’t know what a electric bell and horn is
That's totally wrong. Take a look at the light rail in Baltimore.
No dudes.
What?
