    Well, I didn't think that I'd be spending part of my day off watching a video of somebody repairing their lawn. I guess it just goes to show how captivating your videos are! Cheers. 👍🙂

    I loved this! My daughter's dog has been digging a hole for herself near the side of the house - close to our basement window! We do not have a window well installed, so right now, I am so happy you have shown this beautiful fix!! I need some sunlight this weekend!! LOL!!

    Some of the dry humour in this and the deliver are pretty outstanding 🤣👍🏻
    I think your depression is a mini sink hole where they didn’t dump any old 🧱 bricks before turfing. 😆 I’d have filled the top soil slightly higher. It’s amazing how much it’ll sink again after some good British downpours. Good luck 🤞🏻

    Psychic link again. Literally just prepped an area for new turf this weekend!! Put a fence up too. Mrs said it wasn’t “the full Stuart” but very good for me…. 🙄 😂

    Very helpful video so thanks very much for all your efforts and kindness. I would suggest that a wooden/rubber mallet with wood short plank to tap down the lawn or a wood longish block (as hammer) to tamp down the soil / compost. Just hate to see folk hurting or damaging their precious hands especially where there is multiple or large areas to be done.

    I’ve had a large hole and depression just like this in the lawn of my new house. I wondered for months what it was until my neighbor said there used to be a tree there. Funny story, when I went to level and fill it up, I found the previous owner filled the hole quite unsuccessfully with some sort of spray foam.

    Enjoying this video as more of an 'aspirational' how to, because our lawn is so messy, I might need to go straight to your leveling video when it's out. Or maybe hire a gardener to get us started and then use your videos for maintenance. I'm really starting with a tricky canvas. 😅

    Don’t worry about it being flat. Let the grass grow longer get some wild flowers and insects in. Next you’ll have birds feeding and something to look at rather than sterile grass and a bare fence. Some things need controlling. Somethings don’t.

    thanks for all of your great videos. i'm in florida and i have to pull crabgrass clumps from our lawn that are similar to the weeds that you pulled out - 2 years ago, i bought the Fiskars 4-Claw Weeder and i highly recommend it to you. if you are going to make a video of pulling out those weeds - try this tool - its awesome.

    Hi. A bit of lawn advice please. This autumn (NZ) I have seeded a new lawn a couple of weeks ago and it has taken really well. Any advice as to when should I do the first cut? Should I mulch or collect the clippings? I will be using a rotary mower as reel mowers are a real rarity here! Many thanks. Really enjoy your channel.

  • @davidbanner9001

    If you are going to level the lawn anyway. Why not just fill the hole and not bother with all the work of cutting away the turf etc. Seems like a lot of work for little return, especially as it's going to be levelled later?

    Would it be easier to redo the entire lawn again? Guessing it was laid by the builders. Our lawn had bits of sharp metal and nails and other building rubbish so redid it.

  • @wallace-bv4rl
    @wallace-bv4rl 2 роки тому

    I have previously re-filled and seeded a similar hole just by adding the soil and seeds on top. Please don’t laugh. It did make a mess and the grass there is now greener than elsewhere. My lawn is so lumpy I was going to do a bit more of this lazy method. Re laying whole lawn from scratch would be the next best option probably however noting lazy method…. Any thoughts?? Enjoying the content and style!

    Not any kind of expert here, but I thought if blades of grass get partially buried the lower part just converts to root...? At least I know that works with potato plants.
    If true, the easiest way to level that hole would have been to sprinkle a thin layer of topsoil every few days, and let the grass grow up through it. You'd end up with level ground and grass that has deeper roots (which would make it healthier and more resilient to dry spells).
    I hope I'm guessing right, because the lazy way is always my favourite way.

    • @ProperDIY
      @ProperDIY  2 роки тому

      Yes maybe. I don't know many people who work that can get around to sprinkling top soil on an area continuous every few days at the rate that grass grows - so prob 5 weeks in my example.
