Charley Hutton Finishes Fourth Ridler 1939 Oldsmobile With PPG Envirobase

- There's no denying that when it comes to finishing winners, Charley Hutton of Charley Hutton Color Studios has the Midas touch. At the 2016 Detroit Autorama he captured his 4th Ridler.
This years 2016 Ridler winning build, a 1939 Oldsmobile Convertible, was finished by Charley and his team with PPG Refinish products.
The car was built by Customs and Hot Rods of Andice for Bill Thomas.
Amazing paint job as usual. Loved seeing your work on American Hotrod and Overhaulin' with Chip Foose, over here in the UK.
Great job. BTW. Charley started at Boyd Coddington, then left to work for Chip Foose and has started his own company.
The bar for concept, execution and attention to detail for some these cars just keeps getting set higher.

i have to say it sorry but, im an airbrusher and i think he is just trying to sell product, water DOES NOT spray better than solvent, the surface tention of water vs solvent is huge, thats why 99% use solvent instead of water based stuff, solvent atomizes better.
also he is off on what he says about pigments aswell, you cant even put fine pigment into water based stuff without huge amount of detergent to break surface tension and let them mix.
the overall finish is amazing, but honestly cant take what he is saying seriously.

That's exactly what I just wrote, shire it looks good in a show but for an everyday used car out in the sun that paint will peel in two years. You know what's what glad you called it to.

Charley Hutton paint jobs, are in the same league as the late Toney Nancy upholstery back in the day... coveted, and adds huge value to the vehicle...

Water-based paints may be fine for a high dollar show car that's never going to be driven but on the other hand if you're just driving a regular old car that's painted with water based paint your paint's going to peel off sooner or later

Robin the man has painted 4 riddler winning cars using water based paint.. I guess that's why he gets a lot more zeros per car then you do... You might be an awesome pin striper but I would rather have Charlie

Being forth is the same as 1st in that game.
He didn't finish fourth. The car won. It was the fourth time Charley had painted a Ridler winner. He also painted the 2005, 07, and 13 winners.

The water base paint won't hold up on an everyday used car. Shire it looks good in a show out side in the sun in two years the paint will peel off.
