The one cost that I found I can do away with is the park hopper. In my opinion, it's just as easy to spend a full day at one park each day and explore it more fully.

Agreed. I have kids so it’s obviously different for everyone else but we like going back to the hotel and relax and swim from like 1230 to 330 and then head back to the same park more energized

There is zero reason to park hop right now. The only half day park right now is Animal Kingdom and then you can go to Disney Springs, not spend $200 extra, and have a nice meal. Or explore the resorts!

The sad part is park hopping used to be free. Of course that was before the Iger greed regime. I love to park hop, go back to the room in the afternoon and a different park in the evening. Especially if EPCOT has a festival going on. Of course my no expiration park hopper tickets are down to the last few days. After that I will weigh the costs.

the only time we bought park hopper was when we were in Disneyland day of Radiator Springs Racers opening after a refurb, and we really wanted to go so we rode it like 3x and then it was down again for the following week after we got back home, but otherwise its a waste

It breaks my heart that we’ve been priced out of Disney, I loved sharing this with my family. I booked our 2022 Florida trip through Costco travel, it included flights from Los Angeles, weekly car rental, stay at Sheraton Vista, 2 bedroom 2 bath full kitchen apartment, 5 day tickets to Universal through a promotion and 7 day tickets to Sea world parks which included Discovery Cove, Busch Gardens, Sea World and their 2 water parks. This was for 4 people and cost $4k, this didn’t include gas or food. By cutting Disney out we saved a ton of money and didn’t really miss it.

Same here, I decided that once I get a job I want to bring my dad's house (6 people) bc only me, my brother and my dad have been. No matter what discounts I look into, even excluding souvenirs and staying in the cheapest hotel it's going to be barely doable at almost $10k for 5 days. I'm still gonna make it happen but the prices r ridiculous

$6,500 is a very conservative estimate. Based on the prices that you quoted, here is my estimate for a family of 4 for a 5-day stay:
    2000 hotel (400x5)
    2500 tickets (125x4x5)
    2500 Airline/bus (300X4X2)
    2100 Meals (35x3X4X5)
    300 Genie+ (15x4x5)
    Total: 9,400
So, with a moderate room rate, reasonable airfare, no Park Hopper, no extra lightning lane charges and no souveniers, you are looking at the better part of $10,000. Adding extras, souveniers, a nicer room, etc. will easily push this to $10,000 or more. Frankly, there's not many places in the World that you couldn't visit for 5 days for that amount of money or less.
Disney really needs to consider what kind of value they are providing for the money that they charge these days.

My wife and I were heavily considering going end of March this year so that we could catch all the shows as they swap out in EPCOT and Magic Kingdom, but I just can't justify spending closer to $4500 for a week. We have the money for it, but it's just too high compared to other trips we could take elsewhere. Cost comes from staying at a value resort, flying across the country, a couple table service meals, etc. We could cut the cost by doing less, but when you live on the other side of the US, you just gotta do something moderate when planning a trip to Disney.

The food is not up to par in our opinion either. We are planning another trip in September but will only go to Universal for HHN and spend the rest of our time at Disney. Prior to Covid we went once a year at D World and spent between $4k and $6k.
This was our last trip to D World, we will not be going back. The value proposition to family enjoyment is not there. We were glued to our phones trying to arrange genie + from 7AM each day , selecting and changing rides to applying Genie stacking for evening park hopping. The alternative was hour long waits for most rides. Unfortunately Disney has lost magic for us.

Of course I do understand the benefits of staying at the Disney world parks but before anybody gets a suite and pays those ridiculous fees the house that you could get from a rental company is insane and less than that price of the special suites you can get a whole house with plenty of bedrooms and literally be 10 minutes from Disney. They are also in gated beautiful communities

If you’re in Atlanta it’s a 6.5 hour drive to Orlando. If you fly and count your time from when you leave home to when you actually arrive at your Orlando stay destination it’s probably about 6-7 hours. And cheaper. Flying from Atlanta makes little sense.

Going next month for the first (and hopefully only) time and we’re doing an Airbnb. We’d never made it on time to be there the moment the park opens, and we have 3 adults, two kids. Way better pricing given that we’d rent a vehicle either day.

Just back from a 2 week stay. 2 adults. Honestly, how folks with kids manage I do not know. Excluding the fact we had air fare from Ireland, it was easily 7,000 dollars. Air fares took us over 10k. My credit card bill showed just over $400 in costs for lighting lanes and Genie+ NUTS! You can do it way cheaper. We choose to do it every year and know what we’re getting ourselves into. I still wish it wasn’t so expensive. The highlight this year was a tiny 50th anniversary macaron that was $4 😂 ridiculous.

Prices have really gone up. One thing that my family and I save a lot of money on is accommodation. Back in 2007 my mother decided to get a timeshare at a beautiful resort which saves us a lot of money since it’s been paid off. We also saved money by driving instead of flying; we drive from Maryland to Florida overnight without hotel stays. Rental normally costs around $1500 for a 8 seater and fuel to and from about $450. We normally pick one or two parks to go. This year we’ll be going at the end of May

I went January 2022, the trip for two / 5 days / pop century / 2 day park hopper tickets + genie + lighting lane / food and transportation (uber + disney buses) = 2.5k. ONE YEAR in advance planning, watching your videos, and using small world vacations. I think it was ok, within my budget. BUT the experience was not magical, too crowded, the parks a bit messy, food too expensive. I definitly prefer Universal, a bit more expensive (went defore Disney on the same vacation, 5 days) but the experience much much better.

Yeah got "rid of charge" for resort parking. They just moved that cost to some where else. 25 more for each night stay at any resort that they can sneak in without you even knowing. My theory is they initially charged for parking cause they knew they would take it away later and seem like they are saving you money, giving you a break. They raised prices on everything big time. Genie + lightning lane. New ways of charging you money that is more ridiculous, I think, than charging for parking. Disney charging so much, lines are getting ridiculous, they go so slow with any form of fastpass. Too many filthy rich people keep paying a ridiculous amount of money and it won't change.

The extra evening magic hours is iffy at best. If you dare to want a good view of the fireworks/evening show, that first hour of your 2 extra hours is wasted. You are navigating through crowds to get to the attractions. Day guests are still in line for attractions. These parks are not empty. I was at WDW the first week of May.
I was not impressed with EPCOT. 2 rides broke down while I was in line. Worldshow case was closed at Norway. You have to backtrack through Future World to use the International Gate. MK wasn't much better, so we left early.

We're finalizing things for our first Disney vacation for our family of five (two of our three kids are "adults" by Disney pricing standards). We're going in mid April, at the tail end of the Spring Break season.
This might be our *only* Disney trip, so we're splurging a bit.
All said and done, between a 7-night stay at the Dolphin, four-day park hopper tickets, one-day "park hopper" ticket to Universal, airfare (from northern Ohio), and food/spending money budget, we're looking at just over $10k.
If not for some fortunate things happening in our lives over the past couple of years, this would definitely not have been possible for us.
