Does it really not matter though? I’m not asking to hate, I’m asking to expand my knowledge. This guy is much better than me in TFT, as I’ve only peaked at plat 1 before emerald was a thing so far. An example: a 2 star zeds ability only does damage, sure he can life steal, but a 2 star Morde can also, but also gets a fat shield and the buffed resistances from sentinel. It seems like one is definitely better than the other for maintaining your frontline.
I also understand that there’s a train of thought of if you have 6 crowd diver with that zed, he will also melt front liners and won’t need to tank as long, so I guess it really just comes down to what comp you have going.

Mostly it has to do with the base stats on upgraded units - like a 2* zed would easily tank more than a 1* mord or 1* thresh, who have significantly lower base HP and probably won't be able to cast once before they die anyway (obviously it's different if you're filling out a synergy like 6 sentinels or 4 gaurdian, but we can assume soju would've made the swap if that was the case)
