I think alot of people like DmC as an overall game. But, like you mentioned, just not as a Devil May Cry game. I enjoyed it, and bought it around 3 times. I first bought it for around $12 brand new, about a month after it released on the XBOX 360. Then I bought it on the PS4 for around $15, back in 2016. Then I paid like $5 or $10 early last year for it on my XBOX ONE X. It's a good game.
@@Splinter-dt9oe 1. we all agree 2 is bad but it would hav been worse if not for Itsuno basically making an entire game out of just the stinger animation. Dude and his team are godly and if they can make 2 "work" (heavy quotes on that one) then DmC with a full production cycle should hav been better. 2. Its a DMC game because its named Devil May Cry. It has characters and gameplay mechanics with the same names. Bayo isn't a DMC game because its it own separate universe, with different mechanics and different characters. Both game series are part of the Character Action Genre of games. 3 and 4. These are combined because the reply to both is similar, DmC is compared so heavily to DMC because it uses Characters, Move sets, Story concepts, and the actual name Devil May Cry. By taking DMC as its basis, the game will automatically be compared to the rest of the series, hence why people say that DmC is a decent game but a bad Devil May Cry game. If it was made to stand on its own then it should have been its own thing, similar to Bayonetta which can easily be compared to DMC but is unique enough that it stands as its own separate entity. So in conclusion, if the game were to be judged on its own its fine, or at least the Definitive Edition is in terms of gameplay and removing Vergil's fedora. But that game that takes the DMC name, the names of its characters and the moves from past games is still a bad DMC game for being a watered down version of the franchise it rebooted and for having terrible characters and a plot that aged like fine Mayonnaise. Never forget the 360 no scope abortion
I honestly like his first outfit the best, but each one just shows a key feature of his character at that stage of his life. DMC3: No shirt shows that Dante is still impulsive at this point as he rushes out into the fray before he's really able to establish himself DMC1: Dante dresses a bit more formal as he's trying to bring in customers DMC2: Dante starts taking himself and his duties more seriously DMC4: Dante is at the top of his game and realises he's pretty much unstoppable, so he dresses how he pleases DMC5: Dante is just like "IDGAF, as long as the job gets done and the bills are paid" so he loses all the fancy things DmC:DMC : His hair is cut that way because "that's what kids find cool right now" and his jacket has that colour scheme and british patches because the 80's were a big influence at that point in time according to head of Ninja Theory.
@Gonzalo Minguez, I like to think that Capcom depicts Dante as that as he gets older he looks less flashier but is more flashier in the style of his actions.
@@Archfiend88 That doesnt make any sense, he was always supposed to have a flashy outfit for every game but didnt for 5. Just look at the concept art for old Dante. I like DMC4's outfit the best but I think they gave Nero the best outfit that Dante could have had out of all the games.
To me the DMC 4 is the best, Dante looks in his prime, not too old and not too young and the design of his clothes from the boots to the coat to the gloves is just superb.
A hedgehog, then a plumber, then an elf boy, then an armored lady, then an ugly blue freak, then a pink puffball, then a lovable blue boi, then a deadly Bandicoot, then a purple Dragon, then a dot eyed boi, now an anime badass man
Honestly my personal take on the DMC 5 faded red look was more to show that he was slowly losing some of his humanity unlike Nero who is still full of it. It’s also part of why I liked the DMC4 design better. Off topic I do think it’s funny how without outright telling you 5 shows us that Dante is so overpowered now that the only one who can even remotely stand against him now is his own brother. I really want an after story where the just go to bully Mundus into the deepest corners of hell Doomslayer style.
Yeah, I love that the two brothers are the only ones that can give each any kind of sport, fighting any other demon at this point is just boring I imagine. And this is unrelated to that, but I also think now that both Vergil by eating the fruit and Dante absorbing Rebellion as well as Sparda and both unlocking their full demon forms(Sin devil trigger) are now full demons and thus immortal, thus meaning that for centuries to come, there is no one that can take them on.
That would be awesome. Plus you know dante is like the new Sparda and Vergil is basically the new Demon king so it would be mad to see them rip mundus to shreds.
Dante basically pulled a Dio and rejected his humanity for power to beat Urizen/Vergil especially noticeable when you look at the drastic difference between his regular DT and Sin DT as opposed to Vergil's Sin DT which isn't too much different from his regular DT. Dante has become so powerful he couldn't give too shits less idea denon comes cause Nero can handle it. and now that Nero proved he can beat Vergil, albeit a weakened Vergil, it means that Nero is basically the new strongest demon excluding Dante and Vergil. So what's the point of clinging to humanity and staying on earth. That's why he and Vergil both went to cut down the Quiphloth roots in the denon world.
1. I like the originality of his 2 design, the "prototype" feel of his 3 outfit, the cowboy design of 4 and his simplified variation of it in V but for me Dante's velvet red design in 1 and the anime has always looked best.
Personally, I like DMC1 Dante the most. Maybe he doesn't look the best in portrait shots, but when he animates, he looks the coolest, by miles. They did remake these same animations for DMC 3, but somehow, it just doesn't look as cool. It comes down to nuance and subtlety, then. I certainly can't explain why I think it looks better in DMC 1, all I can do is tell you to look for yourself and see if you can pick up on what I'm talking about. Hold down the lock-on button and walk around as Dante in DMC1, for example. No set of animations has sold me on his character like these, and while they do exist in every other DMC game, they just don't look as cool as they do in the original.
I personally liked DMC, both game and design, however it definitely should’ve been its own game, maybe being more like a successor or tribute to the original Devil May Cry games, or even having this version of Dante be just a different character in the same universe
"Who is Keith Urban?" There you go. Though honestly this was my first time hearing about the guy and yet the resemblance was quite uncanny! Also that poster made me hear 'Divine Hate' instead. XD
@@catlady4858 I love both. Outfit & face. Especially the CG shots, very demonic with a serious mean streak and chiseled facial features, almost no fat. Kinda like Dolph Lundgren in Rocky 4.
I don’t know if I have a ranking of the designs, but I can score them at least. DMC1 - Iconic, brilliant design. Love it, wish we could use it more. 8/10 DMC2 - fine, I don’t hate it but it doesn’t do much for me. 7/10 DMC3 - perfect for a younger Dante, though I wouldn’t want any other version of him to wear it, it’d just look weird. 8/10 DMC4 - it’s so ridiculous, I love it. Love how it shows he’s both more mature and more relaxed than before. 9/10 DmC:DMC - mediocre at best. Overall disappointing. 5/10 DMC5 - love this design, best one so far, I just wish his coat was more red. 9/10
Same here, my fav is DMC V. Maybe the reason why coat is darkish, because they want to make the design looks realistic rather than cosplay/cartoon look (if more red)
I'm thinking on cosplaying Dante in the future and a friend of mine suggested - as I didn't knew which one to pick since I love 1, 2 and 5 at the same level - to make my own design for Dante that could mix two or more versions of it while still being recognizable. You have no idea how helpful this video was with that and I'm scared with the timing given that it appeared on my recommended section soon after I talked with her about it.
DMC 2's design has always been my favorite. Dude just looks sick! I have more appreciation for it after DMC3 and we get to know Vergil. Cause after you off him seemingly for good in DMC it made sense for that to have an effect on Dante. So having a more clean cut (Vergil like) look to Dante was cool homage to his brother.
Okay but can we talk about the artistic mastery and beautiful craftsmanship behind making a ridiculous over the top high speed action game with hyper-realistic graphics and artstyle? Its seriously amazing.
Devil May Cry 2 Dante is just about the peak of modern dark fantasy design, but if you put DMC3 Dante's coat on literally any* other Dante then it's an 11/10 look then and there (*Capcom Dante, that is)
I think that DMC1 design and anime are the best. DMC1 costume looks very stylish, a bit aristocratic I'd say. In anime design I really love Dante's melancholic personality with this awesome outfit.
Seeing the series from outside, I loved the calm, vampiric look from DMC2, but I also get why serious isn’t the right direction for these games. Likewise, I really enjoyed mugshot for DmC Donte; he felt like a character who could take a punch, get dirty in his fights. ‘You should see the other guy’ energy. But taking hits isn’t what the series is about either :P Seeing hot guys flaunt their abs under their coats sure helped awaken something in me, but all in all 2’s still most like my aesthetic.
I really loved his design in #4. It was goofy in a way, but it struck me as very in-character for the direction they took Dante, being an over the top lovable badass. I can imagine him picking it out in a store, Trish saying it wasn't any good, and then the next day he's wearing it anyway. Also, an examination of the devil trigger looks would be pretty cool. The vary a lot, especially in the 1st game where they change based on the weapon.
DMC3 is the best for me. Not just the outfit, but his face too. I think DMC3 has the best art design in the series. I love the statuesque style of all the people and how it doesn't exactly look like anime or a cartoon but something all it's own.
A lot of people say that about dmc 5. Even though the characters have their own face model, Capcom just love to modify their faces. Vergil is the most obvious one because at first glance you immediately think he doesn't have a face model because his face is a combination of Nero and Dante's face but he actually does.
This video might be old but i still want to say it so... In my opinion, this is my fav ranking Dante outside and inside looks: 1. DMC 4 2. DMC 5 3. DMC 3 4. DMC 2 5. DMC 1 6. DMC Hard to put where DMC 5 Dante should be cause he looks damn cool and a funny uncle type i want. But i decide to put dmc 4 on top cause i think he looks like the perfect devil hunter (but i still like DMC 5 tho)
About the british part... Dante is absolutely italo american. His name is italian, just like Nero and Vergil, and he loves gelatto and pizza. Also Sparda was probably from the roman empire since he used latin to name things, thus also italian. Also i'd mention that even if it hasn't been stated by the creators, there has to be some inspiration from Kamen Rider, bikes are very common in DMC (Trish's in 1, the one he rides out of hell in 2, Lady's in 3, Nero's Red Queen in 4 and Cavaliere in 5) and the bug like transformations, specially Sparda's. Also, the fact that the main cast is full of tokusatsu actors.

I think you hit the nail on the head my friend. I know this is of topic but DMC 5 fucken rocked. One of the best action games I played in years. Hopefully the team who made 5 is assembled for 6
Part 5 Dante is absolute best in my opinion but if there's ever a DMC 6 I think custom outfits would be such a welcome feature, imagine seeing all these designs brought back to life with modern graphics?
I think DMC4 is my favorite depiction of Dante, one part because it's the first version of Dante I was introduced to, partly because I like older characters in general that bring the experienced, badass energy that this rendition of Dante brings, and also just because I think he looks the coolest here
I'm not sure if it was mentioned before in the comments and/or if this design counts since it is a skin, but in the DMC reboot, Dante does have this 'original' design that Ninja Theory made but was rejected for reasons(?). This one had Dante's traditional white hair, which was nice. He did not however, have a jacket but it was replaced by red strips of fabric around his torso and arms. That look also had skin tight black shirt and jeans with I'm guessing converse like shoes. I personally found this look very odd and yet I kinda preferred it over the final reboot design. Still all in all, reboot Dante was not my favorite but the game play was more fun than I expected.
If Dante ever does get in smash I hope they pick his dmc1 look. It’s not my favorite design (dmc2 is) but it’s very iconic and still a great design so I hope if our pizza dad does ever get in I hope they use that one.
Smash Bros. nor Nintendont deserve Dante. He's fucking Dante. Nintenshit had nearly 20 years to get DMC onto it's platforms, and they failed. Now, NintenFAGS pray to see him in Smash Bros. honourable mention to DMC2's Diesel outfit. i dunno seeing him not in his red color scheme for a change made it a fun outfit to use. i genuinely liked it.
I should also mention that DMC 3's Dante is shirtless because the man literally just got out of the shower and didn't have time to get fully dressed when he was initially attacked. It's a lovely bit of character continuity.
This is my personal opinion but I always thought that Devil May Cry 2 design was always best comes from a shite game but God does he look like a badass
My favorite is a toss between 1, 4, and 5. Love the coat and vest combo from 1, love the golden holster buckles and the chaps in 4 and I liked the simpler version of they went for in 5.
The white hair in Japanese folklore means someone with demonic powers or blood. Also the red color scheme means a heroic figure I personally love all Dantes ( except for the fake one ) And I think it definitely depends on my mood lol. he was always well designed. ❤
when you were talking about appearances in other games i thought you would bring up nocturne even though it's not a unique look the cell shading in that game makes him look really nice i think
Honestly, DMC2 was the best Dante design. I was super pumped to get his DMC2 costume in DMC3 which quickly disappointed me after realizing it was just his DMC1 costume without the jacket. His DMC2 design was incredibly unique because it merges the long coat into a one piece design. Certainly the most stylish and even moreso his hair had physics which we wouldn't see againnuntil DMC5.

No SMT Nocturne featuring Dante from the Devil May Cry series?
What have I done
Didn’t he have the same outfit from dmc2 in SMT Nocturne.
@@BlueCosmo369 yeah

@@BlueCosmo369
Yeah, but with a healthy dose of cel-shading
I honestly like his first outfit the best, but each one just shows a key feature of his character at that stage of his life.
DMC3: No shirt shows that Dante is still impulsive at this point as he rushes out into the fray before he's really able to establish himself
DMC1: Dante dresses a bit more formal as he's trying to bring in customers
DMC2: Dante starts taking himself and his duties more seriously
DMC4: Dante is at the top of his game and realises he's pretty much unstoppable, so he dresses how he pleases
DMC5: Dante is just like "IDGAF, as long as the job gets done and the bills are paid" so he loses all the fancy things
DmC:DMC : His hair is cut that way because "that's what kids find cool right now" and his jacket has that colour scheme and british patches because the 80's were a big influence at that point in time according to head of Ninja Theory.
Dmc 3 was my fav just because of the design and they actually show the guns in the holsters and it just looks cool
Now this is a genius analysis
Dmc4 has the best design for all characters except vergil

Hey the game wasn't bad. But it could've be better.
To me the DMC 4 is the best, Dante looks in his prime, not too old and not too young and the design of his clothes from the boots to the coat to the gloves is just superb.
same here brah even though i respect our fellas opinions and tastes i just don't understand why is it so overlooked
I liked dmc4 a lot to be fair. I think when you're going for a semi realistic design though 5 just trumps it in most ways!
A hedgehog, then a plumber, then an elf boy, then an armored lady, then an ugly blue freak, then a pink puffball, then a lovable blue boi, then a deadly Bandicoot, then a purple Dragon, then a dot eyed boi, now an anime badass man
That should be the channel trailer right there 😂

DmC: Devil May Cry Dante is just Brendon Urie and I can’t be told otherwise.
Can't unsee this now. Would love to see him and Keith Urban have a savage battle.
Don't insult Brandon Urie like this
No, he was clearly based on the idiot from Ninja Theory who’s in love with his own style.
Don't do Brendon dirty like that
CityStarrz tameem antoniades?
DMC2 for sure. I love his coat and how calm he is.
That's an interesting take! Makes sense to me!
0:48 My favorite new character of DMC5: Crewcut!
He really needs to cheer up though...
looks like he needs a hug
1. I like the originality of his 2 design, the "prototype" feel of his 3 outfit, the cowboy design of 4 and his simplified variation of it in V but for me Dante's velvet red design in 1 and the anime has always looked best.
Honestly I really liked DMC3/4 Dante. Can't choose between them. Those games had some of the wittiest lines in the DMC franchise so far.
Dante was also featured in Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne. It sparked the "Featuring Dante from the Devil May Cry series" meme.
I wish they’d make a dlc for DMC5 that gives you the classic costumes like DMC3 did. I personally love the DMC2 costume
@Claumsy RIGHT gimmie the good stuff
due to how the re engine works that'd take forever
I'm particularly fond of DMC2's design, but I'd love to see all of Dante's outfits get the DMC5 treatment.
DMC1 Dante is still my favorite.
and the game itself from maestro Shinji Mikami still the best for me. Only one final epic battle with Mundus 10/10
❤️
Not enough ppl talk about the first game its the game that got me into video games
It’s so good. It hits the right balance between stylish and practical.
Yep, completely agree with you. It's a shame as it's clear so much effort went into it but it just wasn't what people wanted from the series.
I agree DMC devil may cry should have been own new franchise instead of being a Devil May Cry game.
SNKdante I completly agree. DMC was born from Resident Evil so it would have been cool to have a game born from DMC doing its own thing
Could have just been someone in the same universe and change the parents and villians

Dante could definitely vibe with the Ninja turtles. Now I can't stop thinking of Donatello in a Nico outfit.
🤣 That'd be brilliant!
I don’t know if I have a ranking of the designs, but I can score them at least.
DMC1 - Iconic, brilliant design. Love it, wish we could use it more. 8/10
DMC2 - fine, I don’t hate it but it doesn’t do much for me. 7/10
DMC3 - perfect for a younger Dante, though I wouldn’t want any other version of him to wear it, it’d just look weird. 8/10
DMC4 - it’s so ridiculous, I love it. Love how it shows he’s both more mature and more relaxed than before. 9/10
DmC:DMC - mediocre at best. Overall disappointing. 5/10
DMC5 - love this design, best one so far, I just wish his coat was more red. 9/10
Spot on with my thoughts pretty much!
Fire Rath You forgot to rate DMC3
@@mauri1282 Oops! Thanks, fixed it.
Fire Rath No problem
Same here, my fav is DMC V. Maybe the reason why coat is darkish, because they want to make the design looks realistic rather than cosplay/cartoon look (if more red)
I'm thinking on cosplaying Dante in the future and a friend of mine suggested - as I didn't knew which one to pick since I love 1, 2 and 5 at the same level - to make my own design for Dante that could mix two or more versions of it while still being recognizable. You have no idea how helpful this video was with that and I'm scared with the timing given that it appeared on my recommended section soon after I talked with her about it.
🤣 Glad it could be of use to you!
Personally my favorite designs for Dante is almost reverse order:
5,4,3,2,1,DmC:DmC
Why put DmC last? It was pretty good
Kers A HerpaFuqer I like the original design a lot, it just happens to suffer from the fact that I like the others a bit more.
Okay but can we talk about the artistic mastery and beautiful craftsmanship behind making a ridiculous over the top high speed action game with hyper-realistic graphics and artstyle? Its seriously amazing.
I like the dmc4 and 5 design the best. If he makes it in smash i hope has all the 5 main costumes tho
Can you imagine 😂 that'd be insane
@Grim Scythe ok ? Good for you ?
DMC2 Dante had the coolest outfit.
Devil May Cry 2 Dante is just about the peak of modern dark fantasy design, but if you put DMC3 Dante's coat on literally any* other Dante then it's an 11/10 look then and there
(*Capcom Dante, that is)
I still think the wig joke in DmC was supposed to be ironic foreshadowing. Because he ends up with traditional white hair at the end of the game.
well yeah it makes sense, while originally seeming like an insult eventually Dante's hair becomes white.
Wait, that's a render from DMC5 not a live action film?
Yeah the graphics in that game are absolutely insane
I think that DMC1 design and anime are the best. DMC1 costume looks very stylish, a bit aristocratic I'd say. In anime design I really love Dante's melancholic personality with this awesome outfit.
I really appriciate the Anime Dante. For me, it is really close to the DMC 5 Dante. The perfect Symbiose between DMC 1 and DMC 3 Dante
DMC2, but that's just my five cents.
Why do you get 5 cents when we are only blessed with 2. What is this sorcery.
What that game should have costed. Despite me liking the design somewhat.
The slick vampire look of 2 and the rich bachelor look of 4 are my favorite
My favorite was DMC1 outfit. I was happy when i found out the DMC 1 outfit was going to be the outfit for the anime.
OG dmc1 dante is the best he kinda looks like alucard from hellsing.
But taking hits isn’t what the series is about either :P
Seeing hot guys flaunt their abs under their coats sure helped awaken something in me, but all in all 2’s still most like my aesthetic.
6:40 Right there when Nero is flip-kicking that demon, you can see Dante watching him from the rooftops.
Basically I wish I was him.
We all do, Dante is such a cool character.
I honestly want Capcom to add all the costumes to DMC 5
Same here. One of the only times I'd be interested in cosmetic dlc lol.
I love how you put DmC: Devil May Cry in the background of the thumbnail as a joke
DMC3 is the best for me. Not just the outfit, but his face too. I think DMC3 has the best art design in the series. I love the statuesque style of all the people and how it doesn't exactly look like anime or a cartoon but something all it's own.
I definitely remember a concept art of Dante smoking a cigarette laying on a rock for dMc in gameinformer.
In my opinion, this is my fav ranking Dante outside and inside looks:
1. DMC 4
2. DMC 5
3. DMC 3
4. DMC 2
5. DMC 1
6. DMC
Hard to put where DMC 5 Dante should be cause he looks damn cool and a funny uncle type i want. But i decide to put dmc 4 on top cause i think he looks like the perfect devil hunter (but i still like DMC 5 tho)
Im still in love with DMC2 Dante's design
He's Italian or Spanish it can't be italoamerican. But it's obvious that he's european.
@@virhilios3789 Definetly not spanish. I say italoamerican becuase of the english dub, but 100% italian is fine by me.

Part 5 Dante is absolute best in my opinion but if there's ever a DMC 6 I think custom outfits would be such a welcome feature, imagine seeing all these designs brought back to life with modern graphics?
Assassin’s Creed: Hoodless Demon
I think DMC4 is my favorite depiction of Dante, one part because it's the first version of Dante I was introduced to, partly because I like older characters in general that bring the experienced, badass energy that this rendition of Dante brings, and also just because I think he looks the coolest here
Dmc2 got the best design for sure he look so badass in that game
I’m so sorry I haven’t been watching your content lately I promise I will engage more ;-;
Lol no worries in the slightest! Happy you're here now!
I'd give it to DMC4 for aesthetic. The way he wore his coat, those chaps, and the Italian design to his coat markings, loved it.
If Dante ever does get in smash I hope they pick his dmc1 look. It’s not my favorite design (dmc2 is) but it’s very iconic and still a great design so I hope if our pizza dad does ever get in I hope they use that one.

Devil May Cry 2 had the coolest Dante design. DMC5 Dante design is my second favorite.
Personally speaking. His design in the Maniax version of SMT3 is my favorite, even if it’s just a recreation of DMC2. The art style of SMT3 also fits his DMC3 Devil Trigger design which makes sense considering Kaneko design the Devil Trigger and SMT’s demons.

DMC1. I wish DMC5 Dante was a bit more colourful.
Agree like his DMC5 is good. He had more biker design. However he does need more red colors too much black. They give him red pants.
I should also mention that DMC 3's Dante is shirtless because the man literally just got out of the shower and didn't have time to get fully dressed when he was initially attacked.
It's a lovely bit of character continuity.
