Thanks for mentioning in the first few minutes, that it costs to use squarespace email campaigns. I don’t wish to add another expense to my small business, so you’ve saved me time trying to figure out how to get the email set up
Hey, Im guessing you ahave spent some time in Scotland based on your accent. I was looking for a video on how to use the newsletter feature on my squarespace website. do you have a video for this? I would like to send a news letter to people on my website that sign up but now sure how to make it all function. I have used a few of your videos to get mite site to where it is. so Thank-you.
Hey Ryan, I'm happy the videos have helped. I do have one on that. Here's the direct link: ua-cam.com/video/Xfl9vFbW2Ks/v-deo.html It's funny you mention my accent. A lot of people think I'm American but I just spent a few years there. I am Scottish and live in Scotland. Hey, thanks for being here. I appreciate you!
@@chloeforbeskI’m from Scotland, but I live in Canada now, when I go back to Scotland to visit people say my accent is funny and in Canada people think I sound really Scottish. Thanks for the link it really helped.
Hi Beth, it’s difficult to say without seeing inside your accounts but a couple things to check: - your automation is synced to the right email list - your initial email is set to send ‘immediately’ after signing up. - your newsletter block is properly configured to the right email list There *might* be something in there. One thing that’s worth trying is going through the sequence yourself. It can often identify where the issue is in the sequence. If you’ve tried all that and are still not having any luck, I’d definitely reach out to Squarespace help and support. They should be able to help identify the issue. Hope it’s a quick fix!
Hi Chrissy, Mailchimp is significantly more advanced than Squarespace. If you need all the bells and whistles, it's a good option. Squarespace is super easy and integrated meaning, it's easy to add products etc. Ultimately, it depends if you want a simple newsletter you send out every week or if you want to create more complex funnels. Does that help?
@@chloeforbesk thanks! I’m just starting out, so I really just want to make a lead magnet and get emails. I have Canva too. I’m thinking using Squarespace will likely work for now. I can always change later and keep my emails, right?
🍎 Halfway through watching, and I've got a Q I don't want to forget to ask :) What are your thoughts on the paid version of Mailchimp vs. the Core version of SquareSpace emails? I'm needing to upgrade one way or the other bc of the complexity of some of the campaigns I want to create (lots of if/then diverging emails), and I can't decide if I should stick with Mailchimp and upgrade or switch to SS. The one thought that has me considering SS is that it might be easier to send the immediate "post course purchase" email with login info etc. (which currently I'm having to go in and manually tag in Mailchimp). Thanks so much for making all these great videos!!
Hey Erin :) Okay, so this one is tricky for me to answer only because I'm not a Mailchimp user or a big fan of the platform. I usually recommend Squarespace if you just want the very basics. Send a weekly email. Done. You can definitely send a post course purchase email with Squarespace and the great thing is if you are using Member Areas, it's all connect. The downside, as we both know, is that SS is not the best email marketing platform (right now) when it gets into more complex funnels. It can also be pricey in comparison to the alternatives depending on how you are using it and how many email campaigns you send each month. You could set up some kind of integration with a tool like Zapier so if the purchase form is complete, you can connect to an alternative email marketing platform whether Mailchimp or something else. It's hard for me to say with Mailchimp because I don't know the platform well and find it a little bit clunky. For more complex funnels, I tend to recommend ConvertKit which definitely requires an integration. Does that help answer your question?
I found the "send to all" buttom. But when needing to do specific lists I just get that I can put it in manually. Would be good if you could just select from the all-subscriber-list.
The company Zapier pronounces its name as if it rhymes with happier. They refer to all of the little elements that you can set up through their software as zaps.
I not understand squarespace here, I be forced to use expansive tools who cost money like zapier, then email marketing provider, all that will be cost me around $50 or more + squarespace abo. Zapier 100 tasks are free= that means 100 subscribers? Why I cannot use my webhost emailadress they have autoresponder. With Wordpress I get fre eplugins from marketing providers to connect to my website without need expansive zapier.
Hi Markus, I appreciate it's not ideal. There is another way to do it as shown with ConvertKit. If you embed a form from your email provider, you don't need to use Zapier at all. Most platforms allow you to embed a form. I know many people use Mailerlite which is pretty cost effective or Mailchimp which offers a direct integration.
Hello I have a question. I’m still new to squarespace. But do you have to have email campaign plan for an email to be sent out after someone makes a purchase from your store?
Hey David :) You can send a customer notification after purchase. That's in your commerce settings. If you wanted to send any kind of follow up email or email sequence then you would need to set up an email campaign.
It can seem pricey. I think part of it comes down to how many emails you want to send and the size of your audience. I switched to Flodesk ($35/mth I think) last year for this reason - no send or audience caps. The plus side of Squarespace email is that it's integrated. I hope you find a solution that best works for you :)

Wait, so if I get 100 new subscriber one day, I have to add them MANUALLY to a list?
No, when you add a subscriber form, you choose the list you want to add them to. They will then automatically be added to your list. :)

Any tips on keeping email lists fresh? I.e an easy way to bulk remove emailers that have not opened emails for 6 months or so ?
Not with Squarespace but there are other platforms that offer this kind of data cleanup. I believe ConvertKit does this.
