    Fun review! I have a few nicks in my 43.5 Planet Ocean, but I seriously wear it for all manner of stupid things. I've planted a tree wearing it. Afterwards, I thought, "Why am I wearing this to plant trees?" but what the heck. It keeps about +1 sec/day and it's just a tank. I love the broad arrow hands, the applied Omega logo, and the orange highlights just make me happy. Haha about Bruce and Rob - I had the joy of meeting Bruce at a wings meet up a while back and he's a hoot. There's my brush with fame. :-)

    I own both of these watches and they are each great in their own way. The only knock I have on the Omega is the bezel action feels much flimsier than Tudor bezels in general. If the Planet Ocean bezel clicked like a Tudor it would be tough to beat.

    I gotta tell you, McMahon. That Planet Ocean is WAAAAAAAY more “you” than that Tudor. I look at that Omega and think: “This looks like the sort of watch that a recovering Seikomasochist who works out with kettle bells and religiously eats buckwheat groats every morning would wear.”

    I recently purchased a new 43.5mm planet ocean. The accuracy is staggering. In the first 4 weeks I owned it, the watch gained only 2 seconds. I did not believe it, so I checked it against the GMT website and it was true. I have owned a number of watches over the years and, apart from a couple of quartz ones, I have never owned a timepiece that is so accurate. The Omega website gave the accuracy for my particular watch as +3 seconds per day so I am not sure what happened after it left the factory, but I am not complaining. On an aside, it's also a great watch to wear.

      How is the winding motion? Is it easy and smooth or somewhat difficult in that it offers resistance?

    • @leesimpson1677
      @leesimpson1677 3 роки тому

      @@JeffreyMcMahon I have only wound it once when I first received the watch. It has been on my wrist ever since, and I have no reason to adjust the time so far. The action was very smooth although you could feel a slight resistance as you were obviously winding the watch. The build quality is, as you would expect from Omega, excellent. It's a large and heavy watch, but has great presence on the wrist and I got used to it very quickly. I considered the Seamaster 300 professional, but for some reason, I just did not like the skeleton hands. It's a great timepiece and anyone purchasing this watch would not regret it and, although I can't speak for every Omega, it is astonishingly accurate.

    Both the tudor and the omega are too thick. That's why the bb58 was such a hit. I tried on a omega globemaster today, but again too thick. I know you like a chunky beast on your wrist so either are great for you. Although I think the pelagos is the best tudor model of a dive watch. I actually prefer the original planet ocean with the orange bezel, and they were slimmer. If you want a tough quality Swiss dive watch , that can be sporty and elegant , then the rado captain cook is half the price of these two. That said the Willard looks as good as these two , if not better . You have to think long and hard if your going to make that next step up Jeff. Personally I still think the 051 is seikos best modern diver for the money. The domed sapphire and indices are just superb. At 42mm it's a good beefy size that suits the bigger guy. Imho only the Willard can compare.

    • @markusf6964
      @markusf6964 3 роки тому

      Sorry, but not really. The Omega movement is a certified chronometer which runs -3+4 or so not only if your lucky. This is guaranteed from Omega. The dial, hands and index quality is for more refined (dial and indexes are a lot of the watch costs). The PO ocean bezel will not lock up, in case the watch got dirty.
      The Omega bracelet has a usable quick-adjust.
      The Willard is not as top-heavy as the PO.
      You can see and feel the 3-4 times of the cost in the PO. I have the SLA033 Willard, which is a little bit closer to the PO. But don't get the illusion that these watches are toe to toe.
