To clarify the "fires" are actually flares and yes they are a million degrees hot when you want to believe the press but in reality very few accidents happen. First of, heat is a very curious thing and yes, it's true, they are like 1000 degrees on one end but you can touch the flare at the other end 30cm away no problem. The people in the ranks who use these are 99% in a ultra group or near associates so they know how to use it, it's not like they will be given to just a random person in most cases so the guys know how to handle it. so yeah, it's been made a huge problems by government and press but in reality it's no big deal at all regarding safety.
