I still know this LP by heart and saw those guys live aged 8. I was in the leading Hull kids choir and they came to sing for us. I also watched the start of the bridge and aged 18 squeezed into a mini with 5 friends drove over the bridge in 1982. That record was released in 1971!!
I remember buying this album around 1970 at Hammonds in Hull. The sleeve and inner sleeve in the picture are exactly as I remember them when I took them home. I loved this LP and was so pleased to hear this track as well as one other I found on UA-cam. I'd love to hear the other tracks on the album ('OHU2 That's the Code for me' and 'Land of Green Ginger' were particular favourites). If anyone could share any other of the tracks I would be so pleased to hear them They're not on my streaming service.
The channel "The Portable Gramophone Emporium", uploaded Land of green Ginger last year for me, after I pleased for it. Not the best quality, but it´s the song. Cheerz!

For the city favoured Cromwell and there they could not stay They headed for the river to cross without delay. But on reaching Hessle foreshore they found to their dismay No one had ever built a Humber Bridge. The year of 1966 found Harold Wilson in a fix With his overall majority down to two. He just couldn't face rejection at the Hull North by-election Barbara Castle came to see what she could do. There is one thing I can promise, she assured us on that day, You'll get your Humber Bridge and there won't be much delay. But she forgot to mention that a squeeze was on the way And still we're waiting for a Humber Bridge. Now they've built across the Severn, they've built across the Tay And they've even spanned the mighty Firth of Forth. But an increase on this number with a bridge across the Humber Appears to be more trouble than it's worth. Gas may flow in from the ocean, oil may spurt out from the sea We could join the Common Market or something else maybe Then in Whitehall and in Westminster perhaps they'll start to see That at last we really need a Humber Bridge.

I knew it by heart too. My father was GP to one of them and my parents loyally bought the record when it came out.

From memory this song was written Jackie and Bridie in about 1970. I booked them for The Arden Folk Club in Birmingham.
