    Didn't care Ben wasn't Indian, he did a great job making a lovable character that took the spotlight in the sequel.
    Just like Jeanette Goldstein playing Vasquez in Aliens, I thoroughly enjoyed both of them because they played their roles well.

      Agreed! Let's be real: these movies aren't perfect. But of all the flaws they have, Ben being Indian is just about the least of them. In fact, he's the glue holding these two movies together.

    It's funny to hear Stevens getting shit for his portrayal of Ben, seeing how as is noted in this video most Indonesian audiences actually thought he was of that heritage. Another commenter on a Reddit post awhile back said his mother was shocked to hear Stevens wasn't Indonesian and said he deserved an Oscar because he was completely believable. That same commenter appreciated the character as it was around that time in the 80's that his family started to come over to the US on work visas and as a new transplant to the country he liked seeing that representation in a big movie.

      J5 is unintended AI. he has every bit the free will of a human being. hell the only spiritual successor to this film series i've seen is "Bicentennial Man" only because he went from being an unintended form of AI. to also being lonely, and broke through the boundaries of his design to become more human, in the end, dying a human

    Why no mention of Toronto being the second location? It was supposed to be Oregon in the first, and I think was passed off as NYC. I was in Toronto when I was 21 (2000) and didn’t know that was the location till I passed so many scenes from that movie. I then went back and watched it. I guess as a kid I didn’t notice (but had family in NYC so always assumed it was). The end scene where he’s destroyed chasing Oscar was right outside the CN Tower on Lake Ontario. Now today watching the Yankees play there today I have the movie playing over and over. The scene I’m referring to is when the song Holding out for a hero- Bonnie Tyler plays when he’s dying. I’ll have the song stuck for days now, and also the line “Not this time Oscar, I am really pissed off!” And “What are you, punishment from god?”

    Is anyone else HORRIFIED by the idea of them remaking these? They'd lose all the cute and comedic moments, probably replacing it with existential angst or body horror.
    Not saying that would be a bad movie, (It worked with Robocop, after all) but these movies are SUPPOSED to be cutesy and a little cheesy.

    • @jeremyadkins9665
      @jeremyadkins9665 4 місяці тому

      And that proved a problem in an ironic way for the team, since they had to artificially make the scenes look littered with trash to get the New York feel, but because of Toronto's policy of keeping the streets clean, they'd have to redirty the sets after each take, due to the trash men coming by to sweep up the streets between takes.

    I wouldn't want a fully cgi or animated remake but I would'nt say no to a short circuit 3 made with actual robotics (remote controlled) it'd be great, plus they could show all the upgrades that johnny5 has gone through in the last 30 years, perhaps have him against a japanese company that wants him for some reason? Most were simple props, a few in the group scenes were even just cardboard cutouts (you can see the light shine off one in particular). Five of them were actually RC (all seen moving around the table at the start of the film) and one, that goes around the department store, had a the extra head servo to look back and forth. A few them are still around but it seems most were scrapped after filming. One was rescued by someone who worked on the film and later sold to a collector who actually did the fans a huge favor by disassembling it completely and taking detailed scans and measurements so accurate reproductions are in the works. I looked 3times on my phone while watching first minute of this....why is there that "bzzzz" every 10 seconds :( 0:28 0:38 0:49 1:01 ... I am really glad you made video about my favorite childhood movie, but next time, please, keep an eye on music you use, it is ruining your good work ;)

    This was an amazing movie but many aspects didn't age well. Namely the misogyny and sex jokes. Sets a bad example.

      CRAIG PETTIT Of course it is. He is the token black guy that people use for hundred times to proved how they're not racist.
