Thank you!!! I repaired my Dell 2007FPb with a 5 cent resistor. The 2.7K Surface mount was covered with the white paste, so It was very helpful to know which pins to solder.
My other dead 2007FPb has a bad USB board also, but the 2.7K resistor is ok. The display does not even power up. Capacitors are good, not sure what the problem could be. But I am glad to get my other one working by using this video. Thanks
Did you check the other resistors? In episode 2 @ ua-cam.com/video/YOYm7_EGKxU/v-deo.html I draw a little overview of the values that the resistors should have.
Can these kinds of faults result in a 2007fpb not even lighting up the power standby LED or powering on at all when the power button is pressed? I've tried the simple fixes, including checking the resistors under the white blob, but I'm stuck. I'd be happy to send you my 2007fpb if you want to take a crack at it for a video.
Hi Paul, thanks, in that case you might want to have a look at the power supply board. Have you checked the capacitors? Is there any voltage coming in on the 'board with the blob'? I would like to help you ofcourse, but I'm afraid postage to get the monitor across the atlantic will be more than a brand new second hand. If you can figure out which board is broken I could send you one of my spare boards if postage is do-able for you.
love to see electronics birn
