The trick with upholstered corners is to do the corners BEFORE fully securing the sides. Position your fabric and secure it in place with staples at the centers of the sides. Then, take a corner of the fabric and pull it firmly over the corner of the cushion and secure that with a staple or staples. Next, pull the sides of the fabric over the sides of the cushion at the corner forming smooth miters (like the corner of a picture frame). Staple miters into place. Repeat above for remaining corners. Once the corners are finished, proceed to securing the sides of the fabric to the cushions. Trim away excess fabric at the corners and along the sides with a scissors. I have to say LK, you did a great job of keeping your stripes straight along the edges. Your benches look great, very professional and certainly more work than I'd be willing to take on. Thanks for sharing this project with us. The bench really completes the breakfast nook.
I get used couch or chair cushions and put a thrift shop or inherited sheet tucked over the row Then I can change out color/print as I want and the cushions rly last if they’re from older furniture I also need a back esp in front of windowsills which will hurt my back quickly while leaning against them. So I put a bench type back on.
You are one lucky young lady! Having an amazing brother in law that will come help you and bring wood working knowledge with him to! Wow, the bench is absolutely perfect! I love the fabric and the storage is awesome! The breakfast nook is extremely gorgeous! Fantastic job to both of you! 😊❤
Your breakfast nook is so, so dreamy, and I love how your bench turned out! That wood stain combo is perfect - definitely going to keep that in mind for some diy projects I want to work on this winter!
I've been super excited about this video! The finished product was fantastic!! I especially liked the stain color you came up with. I was lucky in that I found some amazing outdoor fabric on clearance at Joann's several years ago that I used in my kitchen. It has a great weight to it, was easy to work with, and any spills just wipe off the fabric. I still have quite a few yards in navy that I wish I could have sent to you! I have enjoyed using Craftsy for years now, as I love to sew and craft. I have found so many free patterns on the site when sewing for my grandchildren. I'm glad that you were able to work with them! Merry Christmas to you and your loved ones!✴🎄
You took on a big project and did a great job! Congratulations! Only two things I have to say: maybe it would have been too much to undertake, but I wish you had found a way to round the outside corners of the bench. That would have been a sweet finishing touch. Also, I really don't like the pinstripe fabric you chose. I can think of so many mid-century modern upholstery fabrics that would have made this project perfect. But I haven't watched the end of the video yet, so maybe it turned out to be just right. I do understand that when on a budget, you're limited unless you score something out there. i personally would have chosen a cotton corduroy, no pattern, probably thin or medium wale, in a color that works with the breakfast nook. Just me and my taste.
Cool idea! .. I have a bay window with a window seat that I have been wanting to make a seat cushion for. Just need to buy some foam.... I like watching all of your projects on video! 😊
Looks wonderful! You just blow me away. I can't wait to see what treasures and designs you accomplish in your yard. Merry Christmas🎄and Happy New Year🎉

Great job, love the stain collaboration. Liz
Thanks Liz!
I’ve been loving the slow build of your breakfast nook! This is how I decorate too and it feels so much more intentional; plus it’s thrift friendly!
Absolutely! I've actually really been enjoying it too because I feel like I can take more time while also providing some content : )
❤Merry Christmas and all the best for the New Year 🎉🎉🎉

I think so too!

This came out well. Not to kick Dalton to the curb, but I agree with the other viewer: Santa needs to bring you some furniture clamps.
So cool!
Love it! 😊
Awesome🎉
Dalton is a keeper - very handy! Turned out great. 😊
Looks nice but I think the pillows need something…like move them to the corner and maybe add. Other one in corner…wonder how round wud look?
