I always assumed you were horribly irresponsible.”

Yeah Jackie Chan doesn’t break the fourth wall too too much but it’s always funny when they do, Xiaolin showdown was breaking the fourth wall a lot by the end
I love how you are covering JC Adventures, but i highly recommend you talk about the rest of season 2. Not just because they affect future season but because they are, in my opinion, some of the best episodes in the entire show. The episodes you covered are pretty much by the books but the filler episodes really felt like the writers said "Fuck it, we ball". That's where you will find the actually weird episodes. 34:56 I think it was less so it being easy for him to possess Jackie, but if you recall it WAS his plan from the start to use Jackie's body but Valmont got in the way and Shendu possessed him instead as you explained. The caveat of this situation was Shendu's siblings allowed him to go back to the living world and enact the Pancu Box plan after placing a spell on him that LOCKED him to the first body he possessed so they could keep track of where he was since, as a spirit, he'd have been able to just jump from body to body to try and escape them if/when he failed (which he more than likely would have done). I have a lot of love for this show, but one thing sticks out to me the most in retrospect. Jade is probably the single most likeable “child tagalong” character. Not sure what it is about her, because even as a kid I loathed that character archetype, but they really nailed it with her. The finale of this season was a nice focus for her.
That’s really interesting because I’ve seen several comments saying they hate her, but I’m glad you like her! I’m relatively neutral on her, leaning more towards like
That’s a good way of putting it, I’ve heard “martial arts slapstick” and I think that’s why it resonates with people because it’s half bad ass half funny
I personally can't wait for you to cover the Oni Demon mask arc. It is literally my favorite arc of Jackie Chan Accentures. The Sky and Lightning Demons were my favorites this season. The Sky Demon's design is phenomenal.
One of my top nostalgic shows. I love how it featured weird creatures like the hopping vampire and Spring-Heeled Jack. I was on the anti-Jade train though. She could be funny but kind of a brat. But maybe that's her parent's fault for dumping her on relatives instead of learning how to parent. Messed up backstory now that I think of it...
I just want to appreciate that you recap these shows. It's amazing to be able to get a refresher all in one video. It's hard to take the time to re watch a whole series. And you point out so many things i never noticed on my own.
Thank you I really appreciate it. I’m happy to hear you like this format because it’s hard for me to tell if people like the “every episode breakdown” format and if that’s preferred for future shows like code lyoko, etc
@@Colby2D ah man, code lyoko gets so deep. I'd love your style of short-form analysis on it. I remember trying to watch the whole series maybe like, 2 times. I don't remember but it's between 130-150 episodes in total, just off the top of my head. I say this all to say, hell yeah I'd watch your video!
15:52 I'm only now realizing this. but the John Wayne talk there is likely a reference to Jackie's character in Shanghai Noon, where he goes by the name Chon Wang. Which is a joke reference about him later becoming a movie star John Wayne. Looking at the dates, this show came out in 2000, same years as that movie. So season 2 would have been 2001 meaning they had a year to work in this reference.
That’s really funny, there was a couple references like that this season like when they said in that same episode “they took paradise and put up a parking lot” from the Counting crowd cover song that came out then
Thank you! It’s definitely a lot of work and I was kinda nervous uploading this one not in exactly 1 week, so I’m glad you were still able to watch it!
Thank you. I’ll try to cover season 3 at some point in June, and thank you again for your super thanks last video, I wasn’t sure if I pronounced your name correctly in the credits, so my apologies if it was off!
@@Colby2D its just axe and ky put together so i think you did pretty well And i may or may not do another one when that video comes out Thank you for these videos
I love watching your content but I wish you would've covered the rest of Season 2. When you covered episode 7 you critiqued the repetitiveness of the season but there are so many episodes you skipped that are great and give so much character development! Also, there is an episode that introduces Daolon Wong (voiced by James Hong!!) who is a major character in season 3 and its so dope.
What’s interesting is that Hsi Wu/Seymour Wu Jahoozits was the first boy Jade had actually taken an interest in. Makes you wonder if Jade was lying to herself when she was getting over the bond she and Hsi Wu developed. Yes, Hsi Wu was faking it, but I think he would have come around if given a chance. He’s the youngest of the 8 Demons and not well liked, even amongst sibling rivalries.
I think they could have been cool as friends, but I feel like they create scenarios where Drew, the kid with the hat and glasses at school is a good frenemy to Jade
Great video, but oh man, you should really cover the second half of season 2. I dont consider it 'filler' I consider it the absolute peak of the series. Without the constraints of having to build an episodic arc around mysitcal/magical stuff, the writers were able to make the most fun episodes of the show. Love the backround songs too, we definitely grew up with the same shows and games
Thanks very much, yeah the episodes from that half were pretty good like with tohru’s mom, I was just concerned about making this video twice the length and stuff but the second half of season 2 is really fun and actually gets brought up a lot in season 3
I love that you kept this series going, also proving my memory wrong. I somehow remember "the masks" being season 2, when I watched it as a kid. But I do also remember some of the plots from this. It's so weird with watching stuff as a kid on TV and only seeing some of the episodes being aired. I never rewatched the show through modern means in correct continuity. It was always just something I was hyped about whenever the opening started running on TV as a kid.
I think the symbol on the book was the same as the oni leader or at least because I had seen a couple of episodes from season 4 before the episode from season 2
Yeah I don’t remember if the symbol on the book was for the oni masks or the shadow khan, because Jade does at least summon the shadow khan with the seal. But I got really mixed up with episodes from different seasons of JCA growing up
I’ve grown up with a removed cousin who everyone in the household (including me) referred to him by the Chinese term for “little brother”. When I was in elementary school, he was in high school. Yes. I called him that. Yes, people who heard be call for him in public were confused. But yeah, him getting called Uncle by his cousins doesn’t really feel too weird, personally. If everyone in a household/family collectively calls him that, I just think it’s a nickname. Who knows, maybe his behavior was very uncle-like as a kid. Or maybe it’s a family in-joke that outsiders just accept as his name.
This channel has been a lot of fun! I love these season by season breakdowns of these shows I grew up with on Kids WB. I watched all the Xiaolin Showdown stuff too. I would love to see something like this but for Static Shock and Mucha Lucha too!
Very cool, I think you could do a Code lyoko series like this, but maybe like xiolian showdown you could keep score of the characters and monsters with wins and loses
Thank you I appreciate it. Code lyoko will either be next weekend or 2 weekends from now, and I’d like to see if I can organize it like the Xiaolin video if possible
Jackie Chan was in a movie called the prisoner if I remember correctly. They had a team assemble in it too. I think episode 4 might have been a reference to that.
For that explanation of Uncles chant, the first translation was more literal and the second one is more how someone might say the same thing in English, if that makes any sense.
That makes sense, I see that a lot with dubbing in anime and games, like this is the literal translation, but no one talks like this in English these words do not line up the same way
Pepperoni might be a more basic choice, but plain cheese is more basic in terms of ingredients involved... So it kind of just depends on how you think of "basic" as. Both are about equal in my mind.
Omg thank you thank you thank you so much for doing this review. I was searching for a review fo this series a bridge to reignite some old nostalgic memories and there weren't many channels that covered Jackie Chan until this year.
Constantly giving Jade new powers by not letting her keep talismans and having her learn Qi magic later on is so refreshing. A lot of combat style animated characters have been acting a lot like pokemong ever since power scaling got to beam struggle levels. It's nice to see a power system that isn't entirely based around combat but rather how creatively you can use the powers and to what dexterity.
When he said Jade took a photo of the map using a photo booth, I actually thought for a moment, "Clever, but why didn't she just use her pho- oh..." Funny reminder of how times have changed XD
I like how you mentioned how capable of a fighter Valmont is. he's usually played for comedy at this point in the series, but as a kid watching this show when it first aired I thought to myself, during the episode where Jackie turns into a statue "Valmont legit goes toe-to-toe with Jackie and doesn't even get hit." Kinda feels like a power rangers thing where the main villain is clearly stronger than the rangers, but they just have their minions fight em. Always wish they did more with Valmont and his abilities to be honest, because it was rare in this show to see someone best or match Jackie in many ways.
I remember watching this season and thinking the Moon Demon's design was way too unique for this show, especially compared to some of his demon siblings. I do agree with the villain-of-the-week episodes being a bit too formulaic. It didn't seem like there were ever stakes that were too high. Also, I'd be really interested in seeing you cover Cybersix!
I was thinking maybe it was loosely based on the myths of Kaguya. And I’m definitely putting cybersix on the list. I remember it was trending online last year but I don’t remember why, I think it may have been because of how it challenged gender norms.
Jackie definitely wants to fly. That's consistent in these questions about him. 28:20 Uncle showing he can hit the demon before the demon can react is such a good flex lol 33:50 Yoooooooo!
JCA season 2 was always such a weird one for me as it's kinda just two whole seasons smashed together, while season 1s episode were pretty well handled with both sequential stories and light-hearted shenanigans rolled into one season 2 felt like it split those aspects into their own sub-series. While I certainly like the Demon Sorcerers arc what I remember most about season 2 was was the standalone episodes, I'm really hoping that you cover that half of the season before moving on to season 3 and I REALLY hope you continue with the show through to end because season 4 was always my personal favourite.
Thank you, I hear so much hype about season 4 I think I gotta continue it in June! And yeah I feel like season 2 improved on everything, but was a little bit all over the place
I LOVED the Moon Demon's character design as a kid, I even remember drawing it and using that as an action figure 😭 Excited to see the rest of the seasons, 'cuz I only have vague memories of masks (Jade's tattoo sparked that memory, actually). What a huggable dog, btw ❤
I really wish you'd gone over the episodes that didn't pertain to the main plot more. This season honestly had some of my favorites, including the vampire one, the chupacabra one, and the vanishing temple one. I can understand why you didn't, but still. ^^"
I think I’ll cover chupacabra at least in season 3, if not a spin-off video or Patreon video maybe, since if I made another season 2 video exclusively I don’t think many people would want to click on it or think they’ve already watched it
@Colby2D I know I'd watch a "All the one-off episodes I didn't cover" video. This series was a HUGE part of my childhood, so I could watch media on it forever! Also, fun fact, did you know that the ending theme "Chan's the Man" is in the tune of a song by the same band called "Punk @ss B!tch"? (Censoring so YT doesn't auto remove the comment, lol.)
@29:30 That pepperoni Pizza question is the same one I have about Vanilla ice cream I will stand on it that chocolate and strawberry are more popular and therefore more generic than vanilla ice cream
i was going to object that you weren't calling out the non-demon episodes. my favorite being the one where they get trapped in the castle that only appears at night
@@Colby2D Would be cool as I feel that has some of the best episodes of the whole series, or at least the episodes I tend to think about the most (Like the cat statue one and the spring healed episode)
Shedu could posses anyone he wanted because of his spirit form. But he could only leave the demon netherworld if his siblings allowed it. And the cast a spell to bind him to whoever he possessed. And all the hexes were undone once he was returned to the netherrealm. Also I'm surprised you didn't mention the various other episodes from this season. Like the kiang shi episode or the introductionof Daolon Wong. I used the kiang shi one for a pair of chapters in a MHA story of mine.

I will say that, at 7:50, if your body is relaxed, it becomes less rigid and less likely to break bones. Though, with Tohru doing a body slam, it might not matter too much
8:55 Wait wtf, you're telling me that the titular Jackie Chan of Jackie Chan Adventures.. ISN'T played by Jackie Chan? I can't believe this betrayal...
With the first time Shendu tries to possess Jackie, before leaving the other demons put a spell on him to say "once you possess someone you'll be locked to that body" so that's why he was stuck in Valmont until Uncle sent him away. The second time Shendu then went to be nearer to Jackie and made sure it was a time he wasn't moving around or was likely to be knocked out of the way
Yeah im wondering if the enforcers talked about what happened at the prison with Ratso afterwards If you watch its almost like he's happy to make a new friend vs Finn who seemed oddly jealous and aggressive to Chance Jackson, could stem from the fact that Finn really didn't want to be back at that particular prison since he actually started sobbing when the conviction was read out Both guys were going through a lot behind the scenes it seems

That’s really interesting because I’ve seen several comments saying they hate her, but I’m glad you like her! I’m relatively neutral on her, leaning more towards like
Appearently, her inspiration was gosalyn mallard from darkwing duck! But since television tropes, take this with many salt grains.
If you ever get a chance. Watch Star Wars the Bad Batch. Omega is my favorite version of this trope.
Can’t believe how consistently good these are. Getting these once a week is such a treat.
Thank you PK I really appreciate it🙂
I've heard Jackie Chan described as a martial arts master combined with weapons grade slapstick.
That’s a good way of putting it, I’ve heard “martial arts slapstick” and I think that’s why it resonates with people because it’s half bad ass half funny
It's what Jackie Chan is famous for.
I personally can't wait for you to cover the Oni Demon mask arc. It is literally my favorite arc of Jackie Chan Accentures. The Sky and Lightning Demons were my favorites this season. The Sky Demon's design is phenomenal.
I’ve heard great things about the oni masks, I was on the fence about continuing, but I feel like I have to
@@Colby2D Well I did subscribe for the great content.
Yeah it makes you wonder if Jade is the way she is because of her parents, or if her parents are the way they are because of Jade lol
That’s really funny, there was a couple references like that this season like when they said in that same episode “they took paradise and put up a parking lot” from the Counting crowd cover song that came out then
I only except the apology because the ukulele in the back
Thank you, Ukuleles solve everything!
@@Colby2DNot everything 😂😂😂
I’d keep roasting him but all I can think about is how floofy that chonker was
The wiki is correct. The incantation that Uncle says is Cantonese literally for the first quote and localization translation for the 2nd quote.
That’s really cool, I appreciate you confirming🙂
These recaps are so good, and getting these out so fast is insane.
Thank you! It’s definitely a lot of work and I was kinda nervous uploading this one not in exactly 1 week, so I’m glad you were still able to watch it!
NO, NOT THE APOLOGY VIDEO PART, IM DYING FROM THIS 😂😂😂
Ps, cant wait for season 3
Thank you. I’ll try to cover season 3 at some point in June, and thank you again for your super thanks last video, I wasn’t sure if I pronounced your name correctly in the credits, so my apologies if it was off!
@@Colby2D its just axe and ky put together so i think you did pretty well
And i may or may not do another one when that video comes out
Thank you for these videos
Back then when I was a kid, I thought Uncle was saying “You won’t get my hinies now” during those rituals.
That is so funny, I had so many misheard lyrics for songs, but not as much for shows
Why not it worked in The Boondocks. Oh, wait that was you can't have my booty. I guess that's close enough.
Thank you, I’ve been debating making a video on the other half of season 2, or like a “5 episodes I like from season 2”
@@Colby2D yeah, Drew does take interest in Jade. I think it’s a secret crush, but frenemy is a better position.
But I got really mixed up with episodes from different seasons of JCA growing up
My heart skipped a beat when you went to apologize about the sheep talisman lol i was like damn i hope i didnt call bro out ToT
Nahh lol you’re fine it’s all love, I really appreciate all the comments!
I loved this series as a kid, it's great getting to relive those moments through your videos. Thanks!
Thank you for watching!
That is really interesting to hear, thank you for sharing
Its probably how apearently mexicans and so call males they look up to as uncle, often done generally but even more
The apology part was soooo genius! Also your dog is the absolute bestest boy
Thank you I really appreciate it, and yes chip is like my whole life he’s a very sweet old boy
You didn't point out the 360 panning shot of Jade in alternate timeline. That was so cool from an animation standpoint.
It was really cool, the animation in the show is definitely underrated
This channel has been a lot of fun! I love these season by season breakdowns of these shows I grew up with on Kids WB. I watched all the Xiaolin Showdown stuff too.
I would love to see something like this but for Static Shock and Mucha Lucha too!
Thanks!! I’m definitely planning to cover mucha lucha this summer!
i loved how organically s2 played out. felt like a part 2 to a movie
Yeah I think they wanted a main plot like season 1 and a lot of comedic episodes to replay in any order
@@Colby2D cant wait for ur s3 video. Dao long wong was good counter to uncle but def a weak season. Excited for ur take on the shadowkahn season
That makes sense, I see that a lot with dubbing in anime and games, like this is the literal translation, but no one talks like this in English these words do not line up the same way
I love your dog 😭I wasn't expecting a big ol pupper that was amazing
Thank you he is super sweet and just 100 pounds of fluff
Pepperoni might be a more basic choice, but plain cheese is more basic in terms of ingredients involved... So it kind of just depends on how you think of "basic" as. Both are about equal in my mind.
I feel like I consider basic what is more popular / mainstream, but I feel like they’re 50/50 lol
pinapple pizza for life
I like how Jade Demon Tattoo is a character in the demon mask season , makes the world building in this show that much special
That’s what I’ve heard and I’m really excited to check it out!
I really love and appreciate how you put out high quality, long form videos every week, thank you.
Thank you very much, it’s been pretty tough to maintain the schedule, but comments like this make it very worth it
Alright, Colby is special enough for my ritual of "eating food while watching a video." Continue being such a cool nerd!
As someone who would rather starve than eat without a good UA-cam video, I am honored
Omg thank you thank you thank you so much for doing this review. I was searching for a review fo this series a bridge to reignite some old nostalgic memories and there weren't many channels that covered Jackie Chan until this year.
This was such a nostalgic walk down memory lane. Thank you for covering season 2. I can't wait to see what comes next 🙏😃
Thanks very much! Currently working on a video on Code Lyoko but will be back to Jackie Chan sometime soon
Still find it Hella funny that the sky demon knew how to use Jade's camera. The image just makes me giggle so much
The demon’s world is how I first heard of Xen from Half Life. One wonders if the Nihilanth knew Shenmue personally.
Constantly giving Jade new powers by not letting her keep talismans and having her learn Qi magic later on is so refreshing. A lot of combat style animated characters have been acting a lot like pokemong ever since power scaling got to beam struggle levels. It's nice to see a power system that isn't entirely based around combat but rather how creatively you can use the powers and to what dexterity.
lmfao The sheep talisman cutaway was hilarious.
When he said Jade took a photo of the map using a photo booth, I actually thought for a moment, "Clever, but why didn't she just use her pho- oh..."
Funny reminder of how times have changed XD
I like how you mentioned how capable of a fighter Valmont is. he's usually played for comedy at this point in the series, but as a kid watching this show when it first aired I thought to myself, during the episode where Jackie turns into a statue "Valmont legit goes toe-to-toe with Jackie and doesn't even get hit." Kinda feels like a power rangers thing where the main villain is clearly stronger than the rangers, but they just have their minions fight em. Always wish they did more with Valmont and his abilities to be honest, because it was rare in this show to see someone best or match Jackie in many ways.
Uncle liking john wayne is actually a reference to one of jackies movies Shanghai Noon
You didn’t mention on his singing question that he sings the Mandarin and Cantonese versions of “I’ll Make a Man Out of You” from Mulan
I didn’t know that, that’s really cool!
28:20
Uncle showing he can hit the demon before the demon can react is such a good flex lol
33:50
Yoooooooo!
Uncle hitting demons or the section 13 guys is always funny because he has sick skills he’s just old lol
They literally put up a parking lot.
That's goddamn hilarious
I have been desperately waiting for this video to come out ever since I watched part 1. I absolutely love the way you do these videos!
Thank you that makes me so happy to hear, some people love the style and others don’t so that’s great feedback to hear
The moon demon is by far the strongest design I feel, and I think maybe they’re based off of Kaguya which is also a very moon related story.
the fucking ukulele apology hahaha
I really wish you'd gone over the episodes that didn't pertain to the main plot more. This season honestly had some of my favorites, including the vampire one, the chupacabra one, and the vanishing temple one. I can understand why you didn't, but still. ^^"
I think I’ll cover chupacabra at least in season 3, if not a spin-off video or Patreon video maybe, since if I made another season 2 video exclusively I don’t think many people would want to click on it or think they’ve already watched it
yep the vampire one with the man who knew to little one i think are my favourites.
the personality thingviscso fun in the vampire one.
Interesting, I always viewed vanilla as the absence of flavor as a kid, but I can see it being less basic if basic means most common
Love the channel man! Honestly this is the kind of content that sucks me in. You made a 40-minute video feel like 15!
Thank you very much, I tried really hard to just keep it all moving along at a fast pace, so that makes me happy to hear
i was going to object that you weren't calling out the non-demon episodes. my favorite being the one where they get trapped in the castle that only appears at night
I think I’ll try to cover them in the future, I appreciate it
Would love to see more videos on Jackie Chan Adventures, and maybe go over the rest of season 2 as well~
(The episode rundowns/recaps are enjoyable)
Thank you. I may cover season 2 more in the next JCA video!
@@Colby2D Would be cool as I feel that has some of the best episodes of the whole series, or at least the episodes I tend to think about the most (Like the cat statue one and the spring healed episode)
6:56 At least you figured it out and admitted you need to do better. But chip was carrying that apology.
It’s true, thank you for watching
34:24
no he's everyone in the world's uncle and grandpa
Oh man, this channel really gives me nostalgia. Thank you so much for bringing back teenage memories.
Thank you for checking it out! That makes me happy to hear🙂
Bro when you got fake serious for the apology video and brought the dog out I thought you were gonna say your dog was sick. Got me for a second there
Lol nahh, he’s old but really healthy! Sorry for the scare😅
not the ukulele in the background of the "apology video" lmaoooo
the background music for the apology segment is wild 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Shedu could posses anyone he wanted because of his spirit form. But he could only leave the demon netherworld if his siblings allowed it. And the cast a spell to bind him to whoever he possessed. And all the hexes were undone once he was returned to the netherrealm.
Also I'm surprised you didn't mention the various other episodes from this season. Like the kiang shi episode or the introductionof Daolon Wong. I used the kiang shi one for a pair of chapters in a MHA story of mine.
That’s really interesting! I just saw the vampire episode today for the first time, but the MHA crossover sounds really cool
@@Colby2D well an actual JCA and MHA xover is in the works with my UA Multiverse Peek story. I've just been stuck on parts of the chapter.
As for the kiang shi attack, I used that with my story Overseeing A Strange World. As a way to set up for a bigger tale. It's actually in video form on UA-cam. Under Lettuceheadfanfics, QuirkyWhatIf, and DekuFanfics.
@jfb173jb I’ll check it out, thanks!
I will say that, at 7:50, if your body is relaxed, it becomes less rigid and less likely to break bones. Though, with Tohru doing a body slam, it might not matter too much
That’s true, I think of that like for car crashes or people talk about doing that on buses
The second time Shendu then went to be nearer to Jackie and made sure it was a time he wasn't moving around or was likely to be knocked out of the way
Great video, this slaps, so glad you came back for season 2
Thank you very much for checking it out!
34:00 Jackie Chan is also the Chinese voice of Li Shang from Mulan. Both Cantonese and Mandarin.
10:47 would
13:25 would
17:00 based
23:04 would
27:20 IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN ME NOT HIM
29:46 would
I appreciate the apology video
(As a fun gag, not because you had anything to apologize for, to be clear lmao)
Thank you😭
Youre such a great UA-camr you deserve more credit
Thank you so much🥲
7:04 broooo the reference to that creepy lady UA-camrs shitty apology is top tier comedy. Gg homie .
Lol thank you I appreciate it
Always liked that they edited the intros
I’m looking forward to seeing the others but I love that they made hak foo the same size as tohru, I guess he’s close enough lol
The apology/unapology bit was very funny 😂
Great video! It's also funny to be hearing PMD music here after playing so much pokerogue 😂
Lol I was obsessed with PokeRogue for a week until I finally beat it and then I was like “ok I beat it I’m free”
22:32 I can only imagine Shendu just watching through Valmont's perspective and screaming like the rest of them (except for Ratso)
I am glad he apologized after such a horrendous error
I’m so glad you cleared up the sheep thing😂😂😂
Lol I definitely had to address the allegations
Yeah im wondering if the enforcers talked about what happened at the prison with Ratso afterwards
If you watch its almost like he's happy to make a new friend vs Finn who seemed oddly jealous and aggressive to Chance Jackson, could stem from the fact that Finn really didn't want to be back at that particular prison since he actually started sobbing when the conviction was read out
Both guys were going through a lot behind the scenes it seems
