- There has been a dramatic rise in Ukraine's number of dead, according to new estimates by unnamed US officials.
Ukraine gives no official toll of its war dead - the figures remain classified.
But US officials, quoted by the New York Times, recently put the number at 70,000 dead and as many as 120,000 injured.

my condolences to all the dead, on all sides. it is very difficult, especially for us from the former Yugoslav states, to watch this war remembering the difficult times that happened to us in the 90s... the memories make the blood run cold in our veins, and there is great sadness in our hearts because of what happened... and now after 30 and more years since the war.. great bitterness remained due to the realization that all evil happened because of those above, the politicians in their chairs, and the party that replaced the other, only the slogans changed...and for the people... for the people.. it remained to hate and fear

Those in the WH have wanted a war with Russia for decades. Former Chancellor of Germany, Angela Merkel stated that the west lied about the Minsk Accords 1 and 2, to simply stall for time to build up a military force for Ukraine with the goal of fighting and defeating Russia. This was planned back in 2014, 8 years later, Ukraine got the war they wanted. So, yes, it's sad Russia was forced into this war but there is a purpose to their aggression, national security.

Our US company makes artillery pieces, artillery shells and tank ammunitions. The US government buys our products, then resells them to Ukraine (by cash, but mostly by credit). Obviously the more we sell, the better it is for our business.
We thus don't like the Ukrainians to change their tactic from large scale frontal attacks (that make them die more easily, but importantly also consume more of our products) to small-unit surgical operations.
Actually, whether the Ukrainians are winning or losing matters little to us, as long as they consume more of our products; and thus the Ukrainian tactic of large scale frontal attacks suits our business objective better.
Therefore, we hope, and in fact encourage, the Poles to participate in this Russia - Ukraine war;
to put it bluntly, we prefer and encourage the enlargement of this war (the Russians must be prepared for this)
Thus, the Ukrainians winning is good, but the Ukrainians losing is even better, because that would provide a good excuse for Polish troops (and possibly other NATO troops) to enter the war to help the Ukrainians.
And that means we sell more of our products (and of course make more money !)

I would like to remind you that in 2014 Ukraine attacked two republics, Lugansk and Donetsk, these are independent republics with a huge population of more than 15 million people, but with an army weaker than Ukraine. For 9 years, Ukraine killed the population there, shot houses, maimed people, until these republics turned to Russia for protection.
Since 2022, Russia has begun protecting these republics from the military genocide of Ukraine.
Everything that happens after 2022 is entirely the fault of Ukraine itself, which abandoned all types of peace agreements.
Small correction: the combined population of the Donbas republics is 7 million, not 15. And their independence was always contested, and even the Minsk agreements recognized them as autonomous regions of Ukraine.
All that being said, the conflict is entirely the fault of Ukraine and the West, and the ultimate result is that they have suffered a catastrophic defeat.

But everyone forgets that Ukraine does not have the right to dictate to the regions how to live for one simple reason, in Ukraine the laws regulating the life of the regions were abolished, the constitution was abolished, the rights of the people were abolished.. nothing regulated the regions how to live, and there was chaos around them and anarchy, and the terrorists in power in the “country” sent an army to destroy them. Donbass absolutely rightfully defends itself, this is their real right.
Russia does not care about the people living within its own borders. The idea that it is trying to protect anybody is laughable. Kremlin's position is that there is no such thing as Ukraine and that the Ukrainian people are not a nationality and can thus be dominated, just as the Russian elite dominates the ethnicities within the Russian Federation. When Russian leaders use genocidal language against Ukrainians then there is no reason to presume that they have noble intentions. In their war of conquest, they will sacrifice more people than were supposedly being targeted by this fictional genocide that never took place before the invasion.

This war could have been avoided on multiple occasions, starting back in 2014 when the Minsk treaty was signed. You can't expect to ban the Russian language and then expect the Donbas, who are 90% ethnic Russian, to accept that.
