@@mamamia6925 Thank you! I agree that it's important to turn the world's attention onto all of the wars (i.e. war crimes).Yet I am also concerned that 'calling bullshit' (literally, in this case) serves polarization more than it serves conversation. I hope we can work together more, not less.
Well said, sanity from all. Lucas, im with you. Great insight from all . Thanks. I'm from Scotland, and feel anxious, I cannot sleep, I'm not even in Gaza.
But you are from the same human family so pray for all the innocent people who are once again being ethnically cleansed and it’s time for the world to wake up and stand up against oppression 💐💖
I really appreciate your work, DiEM25. Thank you. As a German, it is genuinely frustrating to follow the debates and "discussions" in mainstream German media. It seems that differing opinions are not welcome. I agree with the analysis of a hostile and exclusionary behavior towards Muslims and Arabs, which is often implicit if not explicit, as well as with all the other points raised. There appears to be a substantial barrier that dictates which resources are allowed for analysis and which are not. Lately, there has been a negative sentiment towards leftist intellectuals, such as Zizek and Butler, whose arguments are never met or discussed. Instead, they are dismissed as misled deviants from the very start. I believe that most German citizens are unaware of the reports made by many credible human rights associations, let alone the numerous Israeli ones that criticize and point out the criminal actions of the State of Israel. Furthermore, I don't believe that any solution to this conflict can be found through further aggression from both sides, although I recognize that it's easier said than done. However, I do think that if we only accept the narrative of one side, in this case, the IDF's and the State of Israel, without even acknowledging the possibility of a different perspective, there can be no hope for a solution. At this point, I don't even demand that all those talk show hosts, columnists, politicians, etc., fully embrace the criticism raised in this video. I simply wish that they would acknowledge its existence as a legitimate argument that requires a response.
Excellent explanation by Yanis on the history of Jewish success in commerce. May I also ad that non-antisemitic anger towards Israel is its behaviour towards Palestinians. They have committed this famous Error = "Be careful if you are someone that has to fight Monsters lest you become a Monster Yourself".
Thanks DiEM25 for inviting Iris (?) to speak on the podcast. Her talk was illuminating, helpful and insightful. She clearly explained the situation in Berlin and likely wider Germany. I'm so sorry that nationalism has vomited up nazis into society and the German Parliament. It's been bubbling away for decades. How can this train of thinking, ideology, be peacefully managed out of a population and understood? Is it centuries of religious history and belief, is it a failure of education, or no education, is it culture (whatever that implies)? AppreciativeThanks
It's my belief that it's mostly about two things; economic hardship and mass immigration. It is also my belief that they have it entirely wrong why these two exist, why they are rising and how to solve it. Both of these issues are at the core of the new "populist" parties.
Israel is imperialism. And as long as there is capitalism there will be more attempts at more Israels, because even an attempt with an accompanying war will generate surplus value. This is especially true in a time where finding more markets and revenue streams gets harder and harder.

It's bad, very bad in Germany right now. Listen everyone, we must talk about German racism in general. Me from the eastern part of Europe (which we call Central Europe actually) am regularly sent to where I come from because I express my opinion or even insist on my rights. That's because they notice my accent.

My mother, a second gen Polish/American, explained the history with the Jews in Europe much like Yanis described it. There was resentment at being poor and the peasants of which my ancestors were used the Jews as a scapegoat, instead of blaming the system itself for their woes. I see the same attitude now in Israel. The Israelis are defending a failed democracy and you here them blaming any sort of lack of progress on peace on the Palestinians

Settlers. No one likes settlers. And religion plays a huge role here. This is a civil war within the Semitic race for religious tyranny by all sides [Christianity (both catholic french in lebanon and orthodox greek), Judaism and Islam].

For the record, the estimated indigenous population of Australia at the time of colonization by the British (1788) was somewhere between 300,000 and 950, 000 people (not 5 million). The concept of 'terra nullius' was not used in exactly the way claimed here.
The land of Israel before its declaration always had some Jews living on it. It wasn't a land without a people, there were arabs and Jews living along side each other.
You had a very interesting program, and I felt especially impressed by this Israelian Jewish psychoanalyst. But I didn’t succeed in picking her name. If I could find it, I would love to collect information about what she may have written (in German or in English) and which is tje organization she represents. Is it possible for you to answer my message and give her name?
Where are the "rise of antisemitism" statistics coming from though? Certain polls tend to equate negative views on Israel as a political or geographical project ( which are certainly soaring) with antisemitism against the religion/etnicity, which makes me skeptical( dangerous in itself, I know).
@@atidfelixcastillo-najerala6891 I am married to a jew, dude. That says nothing about statistical gathering. As for his opinions on this data, he is even more skeptical than me so I am trying to be open minded.

somebody please enlighten me. Is "racism" about genetics? (if we compare blood tests and see that there is no evidence of differences). Is it about being true to a particular religious doctrine? I don't think so. Is it about belonging to a group which gives me benefits and excludes others?, aha!!
hate speech is free speech, hands down. But suggesting that the israelis should stop killing babies to keep the stolen territories is neither hate speech not anti-simetic speech
This conversation is a distraction. Here is a sample of the email that I sent to the White House just now as a U.S. citizen. Dear Mr. President, On the issue of the Palestinian people and the Palestinian cause, the U.S. is also responsible for the genocidal process that is now seen clearly in Gaza since Israel is nothing more than a satellite state that we placed there for our own imperial ambitions and to expand U.S. global power and domination. We should take the side of the Palestinian people, force Israel out of the territories altogether as much as we possibly can, and begin to rebuild and invest in Palestine to improve the quality of human living there. Some critics say that you are simply unable to help bring about a new kind of world which does not rely on supplying conflicts for the defense industry and our government to exploit. This madness has to stop, and you should be man enough to take some of the blame, listen to the people who elected you, and do whatever necessary to bring about a radical change in the nature and direction of our foreign policy. Thank you for your time, and have a good day.
The courage of Iris Hefets and people liker her is the only thing that gives me hope for the future of civilized society.

Why weren't they important in the Jemen war? It's bullshit to say all lives are important but caring about one war 1000 times more than another.

There might be less anti-semitism if it weren't for the terrible treatment of Palestinians by the Israeli apartheid state.

The free speech at the margins needs extra protection ... the same way the human rights of people at the margins need extra protection.
genocide must stop Palestine must be free but no hate to the Jews people. prayers for peace n justice.
