Hi Joey, my name is Cait, I am 19 years old (20 end of year), I have been vegan for 2 years now, I actually discovered your videos and UA-cam channel recently, and I have watched dominion 3 times over the course of me being vegan (I actually only discovered these documentaries after I went vegan), and also earthlings, cowspiracy, what the health, seaspiracy, ect. You have inspired me so much and I cannot even begin to express what gratitude and respect I have for you and for the awareness that you have spread toward these cruel, corrupt businesses who gain profit by the exploitation of the gentle and kind, I live in South Africa and there isn't anything or anyone like that here unfortunately, but that is why I am reaching out to you, I would very much like to, in plain words, do what you do here where animal cruelty is very much active and ignored, it is a major issue and part of religion and culture here, with very closed mind people, and I aspire to be like you, to be what you are for these ignored victims of a violent industry, and I am in all honesty quite overwhelmed and am not sure where to begin or what to do or how to even start to do more because I have to, I need to help these animals to be their voice, I can't JUST be vegan I need to do more, and if you do have the time I would very much like to have guidence, if you are to busy I completely understand, the work you do is incredibly important and I will mange to figure things out as I go, but again, thank you for what you do, love Cait 🖤

@@veganm8918 Herbivores ingest plant matter but their nutrition is primarily short chain fatty acids (SCFA) i.e. saturated fat from fibre fermentation. An elephant can get almost 100% of its nutrition from SCFA. Gorillas get about 60% of their nutrition from SCFA. These herbivores have fermentation organs that house the fibre fermenting bacteria. They feed the bacteria fibre, and the bacteria feeds them SCFA. They get their proteins from the bacteria that die in their organs. These animals are strong because they use the most dense energy source, fat. They have a low carb, medium protein and high fat nutrition profile. As a human we have the smallest large intestine (volume relative to size) compared to gibbons, orangutans, gorillas and chimpanzees. Meanwhile we have the largest small intestine (2x bigger). We cannot obtain nutrition from ingesting plants like strict herbivores can. Unless you are fermenting your food on the counter top to get all of those SCFAs (good luck eating that 🤢) I don't think you are getting comparable nutrition to a big strong herbivore. Now I know the average vegan will rebut with this organ size info by stressing our reliance on cooking for nutrition, but cooking still doesn't explain away the herbivore's major reliance on SCFA for their nutrition. So remember to go low carb and eat your grass-fed fatty meat if you want to be healthy 😁

We hear 23,000 killed in Palestine and do nothing, millions of animals are slaughtered every day, etc. When someone you know (dog, cat, human) is affected by such horror, the connection is much deeper. I wish for all humans to get in touch with empathy for others.

You've given him something to think about at least. His reaction wasn't one of someone who genuinely doesn't give a crap. More like one who does but just isn't really in the frame of mind to be changing yet.
It's so important what you're doing. Early days of humanity, someone discovered we can sneak up on an animal, hit them with a rock, and then eat them and we don't die. We actually get energy and get stronger the more savage we become doing that.
We are in currently the longest lasting and most successful attempt at separating ourselves from that kind of cruel animalistic behaviour. Society. Civilisation. That's what this is.
The fact that we've made several technological and moral leaps in our behaviour regarding other things - transport - clothing - treatment of eachother - homes - heating - light - communication..... but when it comes to food, we still DO THE EXACT THING WE STARTED DOING IN THE EARLY DAYS.
When people do a medieval re-enactment fair thing, the ONLY thing that's not being re-enacted and is just the SAME as it was in medieval times is the food banquet everyone serves. That's just Friday night at Denny's!!! There's no difference!!! No progress or technology made - EXCEPT!!! Plant based. This has triggered an awareness, through Veganism, that has resulted in CLONED MEAT actually being a filthy reality!!
Yet people want to fight against it, mostly to protect their choice to eat what they want - one of the few actual freedoms afforded to them. So it's essentially a threat to stagnate our technological and moral progress as a species, for a very childish and defensive reason.
People like you help to etch away at this.

    • @emmanarotzky6565
      @emmanarotzky6565 10 місяців тому

The size of the shop doesn’t have anything to do with what the animal experienced. If you really truly have to eat meat to survive for some reason, maybe eat meat from wild animals who lived a normal life up until they got killed as quickly as possible with no anticipation of being killed. (That’s one area where humans make “better” predators than other species; if I absolutely HAD to be killed by an animal for some reason but I got to choose the animal, I would choose a human because they shoot you in the heart when you don’t suspect anything instead of chasing you down and ripping your throat out.) But I suspect that when your doctors said to eat meat, they were referring to something that is found in meat but not only in meat. I don’t know enough about your particular situation to say for sure.

Free range farming is a great way to not have to compromise on our natural omnivore diet. Our bodies evolved on a mostly meat diet and is what is required to maintain proper brain and body health. If you think about it - “humane” organic meat is not even worth it. You will only lose time, energy and money:
FIRST - you have to invest MORE TIME to do your groceries. Imagine: you do all your groceries in one supermarket and then you have to drive to this one shop just for the meat. It may be far away. Then you have to go back.
SECOND - you have to invest EVEN MORE TIME to do your research. Do you even know where they sell this kind of “humane” organic meat? Do you know the address of the shop? If not you need to spend some time to find out.
What is more - you have to check both - how these animals are treated on the farm and how they are killed. How are you going to do this? First, you need to track both: farm and slaughterhouse addresses. Probably go to the shop and ask them about the farm address. Then, you need to drive to the farm. You need to ask which slaughterhouse they send the animals to. You have to drive there. You have to talk to the people who work on the farm and slaughterhouse and see the entire process on your own. From the beginning to the end - including impregnation, life on farm, transport to the slaughterhouse, killing process etc. Only this way you will be sure there is no abuse, violence and suffering.
When we talk about morality (“humane” meat is a matter of morality) you must be sure. You can’t guess or assume. It’s your responsibility to make an effort to check EVERYTHING when you choose this option (especially when there is a vegan option). It’s a matter of animals’ life.
THIRD - you will spend more money. Don’t you think this meat is more expensive? On top of that you also have to add the fuel price to drive to the shop and go back.
Since this “humane” organic meat is more expensive you either eat less meat and spend the same amount of money as before or eat the same amount of meat but spend more money.
IF YOU EAT LESS MEAT you need to start tracking your meals (via cronometer.com or similar app) and planning how to provide enough kcal (what is more: if you don’t have basic knowledge about nutrition you need to educate yourself at least a little) - that’s even more time you need to invest. If you don’t do this you will not consume enough calories, you will be tired all the time and cause deficiencies.
But even if you eat less meat to spend the same amount of money you will end up spending more money overall. Sure, you will spend the same amount of money on meat (because you eat less of it) but precisely because you eat less meat you need to eat more other additional food to provide enough calories (remember this additional food also costs money).
FOURTH - you need to invest A LOT OF ENERGY to do your research, educate yourself, go to the farm, go to the slaughterhouse, talk to the employees, find the shop, go to the shop, go back from the shop. You need to plan when you go to the shop. If you eat less meat and as a consequence provide not enough calories and nutrition you will have less energy and be tired all the time.
TO SUM UP - you will spend more time, money and energy on “humane” organic meat. And what does “humane slaughter” even mean? Can you humanely kill someone who doesn’t want to die? Going vegan is cheaper and easier. In both cases you need to invest some time to educate yourself but at least no animals are killed in the process.
I believe in you, because you are a good person. Go vegan! One love.
