I got called a try hard for using a scythe with kick on it against an overleveled phantom using a dealing sheild in a 2 v 1 situation that I lost. Lol I thought that was hilarious.
as someone who skipped out on brain development, i love the dueling shield, it perfectly complements my skilless playstyle where i dont even have to try and can win fights even tho im mega outplayed
part of what makes it broken is how elden ring lacks counters to shieldhugging, without being changed in anything dueling shield would crash to f tier if sword dance or stance were guaranteed to guard break like in ds3
Shield dude has a known bad connection... by that I mean I sent him clips of us fighting where he glides and avoids death which he acknowledged as bullshit 😂
It’s not good as a primary weapon as an invader where you need to move around and chase. Like the name implies, dueling shield is more suited for dueling as a bonfire Duelist like this video shows or in colosseum, where you need to stand your ground more and aggress forward less. Running attacks are not so good on thrusting shields for chase downs. The best way to counter it is with a non magic elemental grave scythe. You will do a lot of chip damage, have super armour so you don’t lose priority and do decent stamina damage. Kick, stormcaller, braggarts roar for the buff, Cragblade for buff are good ashes of war. Other options are shotel weapons like the vulgar militia shotel where you can actually outspace your opponent. This includes shotel curved swords and Lucerne halberd. If it looks like they are not fully building around it, you could just go colossals, or use hammers or great hammers and attempt to guard break. Other tactic is sleep or madness as you can’t block in those stun states. Personally I find thrusting shields best used in the offhand with shields strike as a good secondary to slower weapons or catalysts on your right hand. The carian thrusting shields is particularly good on magic for a mage build, it does more damage than magic guardian sword-spear. Heck it has the most attack power of non great/ colossal class weapons. It also blocks.
@@Whatsit2ya_ blind spot is hard countered by a raptors swap. It's been tested. The TS user can just raptors on reaction and punish with a jump attack and you'll run out of FP before they do.
I hate how there's two Dueling Shields, and one of them is just so much better, that it practically invalidates the other. It really just encapsulates the amount of misguided effort put into these DLC weapons. Like, they went so far, but no further. And the end result is simultaneously OP and underwhelming. A dubious accomplishment, for sure.
Ofc they would, it’s a PVE centered game. The PVP aspect has never been its hallmark since dark souls. PVP is only there for replayability, it is not and never will be accredited as a competitive esport game where balancing is imperative 😂
PVE centered is a cope out, balance matters everywhere which is why they also nerf stuff for pve. They're just so insanely bad at it that they nerf shield poke to then make better shieldpoke...
@@giraffeorganic yeah but there are weapons and elements that are clearly meant for PvP more so than PvE and viceversa, Dueling Shield being one of them; yeah some people with an unrelated attachment to it are gonna use it in PvE anyway, but Dueling Shield is an example of bad game design exactly bc it's an issue for PvP
Storm assault on dueling shield, you'll never have a problem with them again. They love to trade, use the in the middle of trading and watch them panic.
I like the shield weapon because it incentives me to whip out good o'l double lightning shotels for the dex build, just like the dark souls 1 day's... Knight Lautrec you PoS! Like a hot knife through butter they don't even notice the damge isn't getting blocked at first.
Dueling Shield shits on the fundamentals of combat. Also, its stamina management looks non-existent as well as its recovery frames. It really isn't looking good for ER PVP anymore. It feels more like a novelty than an actual skill-based activity. Regardless, I'll still play it now and then because its combat is still one of a kind, at least for the time being.
I personally really don't like dueling shield, it's just really obnoxious to fight with latency, but I never used rot and regen, so I definitely gotta use that next time I feel crazy enough to play this game. Just been having too much fun on tekken honestly
I told michael zaki I wanted dual greatshields but instead we got great dueling shields (they're actually pretty fun but i still miss my bigass doors man)

humblecalmgamer isn't using bhs to bore me to death, he's using quickstep to bore me to death, my bad.
Even worse if he decides to be a bigger scrub and recerse quickstep
so is this guy the last remaining psn bonfire duelist or what???

most weapons need to land a hit to maintain their advantage state but dueling shiel usually gets 2 or 3 more swings after the first hit either way

Parrying is inconsistent and also dueling shield has very good jump attacks
