I am studying computer science at college and my assignment was to mass add users. We've tried ADDS 2 or 3 times at this point, never had a problem with it till now. I checked if my IP range and DNS were right, if IP itself was right, domain names, if machines could ping each other etc. Everything seems right, yet nothing worked. Couple of restarts and sanity checks later it works. I have legitimately no idea, what was wrong. Thanks for different point of view though!
Thank you!!!!! Im sitting alone in a computer lab and got this problem and it worked by setting the preffered DNS to the domain contollers ip. First it did not work and i got frustrated but then remembered this is windows and restarted the server and it worked.

Hi Kev, great tutorial! It's helped me get a step closer to getting this configuration working, however, I've still been running into a wall for the past 6 hours! Once I add the Windows VM to the domain (as a member) and receive a confirmation when trying to Manage the newly added computer (via Active Directory Users and Computers). I keep getting "Computer cannot be connected. Verify that the network path is correct, the computer is available on the network.... To enable the appropriate rules Windows Firewall rules on the remote computer, open the Windows Firewall with Advanced Security snap-in and enable the following inbound rules: COM+ Network Access (DCOM-In)". I've tried everything but still now luck!

Guys... I have been having that issue and after checking several times, it wasn't my ip was the problem but rather the network connection... Make sure its not "NAT" but set to "BRIDGE ADAPTER"

Hi, if the pinging could not find the host, these could be cause be two different things. 1. probably your company have configured a firewall policy to prevent pinging 2. Check the configuration of your windows operating system if it is properly configured.
thank you for the video but is there any configuration that can be done at a router level to redirect any query to the DC to avoid having fixed settings on Wifi Ethernet of client machines ? I faced the same issue and I use your recommendation to fix it unfortunately if I change back on the client the ethernet config to automatic settings (IP assigned by DHCP), I will not have access to the local drives on my LAN.

But I have one problem, on my Cisco router I’ve configured DNS as 8.8.8.8 , so do I’ve to go back to that router to change the DNS to my server IP? Hello Kalyan, Is this a test environment? I think the problem is with your dns configuration. First, you want to take the ip address of your primary domain controller and assign it as a static IP address to your secondary device or workstation. That is if you are doing this statically and it will work.

Hi I did exactly as shown in your tutorial, however I am still getting the same error. I can ping my DC from my workstation no problem but can't ping my workstation from my DC. I disabled the firewall for the private network on the client and I can successfully ping the client from the DC. However I still can't join the domain. Why would this be? Any help would be much appreciated
@@TechQuent I did as you suggested and turned off IPv6, I'm still unable to ping the VM from the host. I am using NAT Network. Ping works in both direction if I switch to bridged adapter because the devices are in the same subnet I guess. But when I go back to NAT I can only ping the host from the VM. I noticed a bunch of different subnets listen on the VM, when I do ipconfig /all. I still don't get why it only ping one way. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

The client can't join the domaine, the error message says that impossible to contact the controler domaine, i make all sort of troubleshooting but not sucess, the the client can ping the server and vice vice-versa, computer have good ip adress and dns. Literally was putting 192.168.0.1 instead of the IP of the DC which was 192.168.0.10 as a DNS for the Cluster nodes.... for everyone pls pay attention to the numbers :)
Hi Joe, This was a test environment that is why I changed it manually. But if this should be an Enterprise environment, your DHCP Server will be doing this for you.

Are the IP addresses configured to be obtained automatically from a DHCP server? You should asked your network admin to check where the error is coming from
Sorry for the late reaction. Are you working on a test or production environment? If you are working on a test environment, you will to check your dns configuration, probably your client is not find your server dns address.
It's not working every time I try to do this the computer freezes up and then I get kicked out. The message I get is: Remote Desktop can't connect to the remote computer for one of the reasons: 1. Remote access to the server is not enabled 2. The remote computer is turned off 3. The remote computer is not available on the network

Hi, Have you checked both device to be sure that the IP address are in the same range? Did you configure the ip address manually or is automatically generated. Do you konw if firewall is blocking the ping? > You will need to allow icmp throug firewall if that is the case

Manually dns configuration is done on this video because this is a test environment. In a production environment, this will be done via a DHCP server that will assign both the IP address and the DNS address.

Hi, I changed the dns to my controller ID and still same error, I can ping the ip and the domain name from other pc on network , dont get this shitt

I think the problem is with your dns configuration.
First, you want to take the ip address of your primary domain controller and assign it

Hello, can you configure a separate PC (real computer) as a client to a domain controller (which is a VM)?
Yes you can, you just need to make sure the network adapter is. “Bridged” in tge vm settings for the vm server.

what if the domain controller is not able to ping the client to be added even though they are in same network.
Sometimes, pinging may blocked by your security team. But you can still add the device to the domain.

Manually dns configuration is done on this video because this is a test environment. In a production environment, this will be done via a DHCP server that will assign both the IP address and the DNS address.

When I ping the ip of my server it gets a response, but when I type the hostname it cant find it, what am I doing wrong?
Probably this is a dns configuration issue. Do you have this issue on this specific server or every servers?
