Exactly, within the confines of the everyday cult life we experienced, we could on the other hand gain experience / training of reading / wording / language at an early age, to a degree. For families who may be from a less educated populus / background, this may be even an “upgrade”, as they experience it. Still it’s fair to say that it wasn’t worth it, even with this one positive reason.

He is a young man that was in an occult. Like Darwin was a 22 year old theologian that decided we evolved. Kent Hovind has invited Harrison to debate Noahs Flood he has declined. This is sad and he us now causing peole to doubt and even more evil is born into the world. Trey Smith has great video's well researched with proof of a global flood as well. Do those of us that believe in an intellegent creator have all the answers? No but neither does Atheism but we have better answers if you really want the truth check out Trey Smith, Kent Hovind, Answers in Genesis.

"...more evil is born into the world"??? Sure, the 30,000 different religions in history were doing a great job limiting the good to evil ratio and Harrison's viewpoint on the flood has unprecedently changed everything for the future of the human race! What a narrow minded assumption!!!

I first subscribed to Harrison’s channel three weeks ago - I was so taken with his refreshingly direct and scholarly approach - seldom have I ever heard such a young individual from a JW background have such a compelling mix of intelligence, interpersonal savvy, rapid-fire commentary (with all claims well backed up by references) and damn good looks. One of my very first thoughts was, ‘I wonder if Lloyd will notice Harrison and interview him?’
And now you have. It is a compelling exchange between two men who know their stuff and communicate with zest, humour and who don’t hold back.
Harrison is so likeably onto it and his sudden emergence gives me hope that he will rapidly gain the attention of JW youth. You two gelled so well: the warmth and mutual respect were so evident.
Another first class conversation Lloyd that shows you are so at the top of your game as it were. And how generous of you to give this rising star of UA-cam such a helpful platform.

If they truly believed it was H.S. directing things the first time around, there would be no need for reappointments. They're basically admitting it's just a boys' club.

  • @tamarjeynes5724
    @tamarjeynes5724 3 роки тому +4

There was one sentence Harrison said that hit me in the gut as soon as the words were out of his mouth. It was where he was recounting how he had moved congregation and lost all privileges because he hadn’t been recommended by the previous congregation elders. “I was just like a sister!” It hit me hard because when I was in, obviously, I was one of those sisters. I was from a disadvantaged background, no men to ride on the coat-tails of in terms of an elder Dad, min servant bro or pioneer hubby. I pioneered, rejected the whole uni & further ed thing even though I was considered gifted enough to have been trained for scholarships for private education in the past. In that world I could have used those gifts... which instead I gifted to an organisation where I used them to the best of my ability. It’s always pained me looking back, partly because of the waste, but the most hurtful thing was the treatment I experienced as a young, bright, artistic, very ‘different’ person. I was doing everything ‘right’, but more heartbreakingly, I really felt it - it was genuine. Yet I could feel that treatment, that not being good enough, seen as equal - even to the wife of some bloke with a title, though both of them were doing sod all really beyond showing up at meetings and doing minimum door knocking. The glib sentence from Harrison suddenly brought it all back, explaining it. It wasn’t so much the words - it was there in the words, of course. But also in the way it was said - emphasis on the way ‘sister’ was said, the implication I received was ‘I was nothing! Just like a sister!’. The other thing was the unconscious way in which it was done, not thought about, not even on the radar.
We all get different things from watching these videos. For some people it’s listening to stories of people with titles or privileges waking up and spilling the beans. I like that side, but there is something really painful and at times traumatic in a way that seems to be different to how I see videos describing the experience of being a JW. There were strong ones and the weak ones, but then what about the ones who were supposed to be viewed as weak, who deigned to crossover, but couldn’t be accepted as strong, between worlds? The men could be accepted as fatherless boys. The women couldn’t be. Strong women? Yikes. At the time I didn’t get it - I felt so alone, so unloved, so unloveable, so unliked. I didn’t understand why I was doing everything right. I was pretty enough to attract enough non-JWs but the JW lads were never interested. I was the one who was missed off the list at parties or pub meet ups. I only realised I could make superficial friends in late teens when I discovered other congregations and real friendships a long time after I left. The whole JW experience really damaged me. That doesn’t even factor in other layers of issues that high control religious groups foster due to their closed nature. People like me, and the underbelly - the social class considered ‘weak’ were the ones who were often the ones most at risk of harm and abuse. I moved around several congregations and within all knew of friends who had experienced abuse, or of convicted or unconvinced paedophiles. Most famously there was the Rubery congregation, which housed the paedophile Jaswan Patti who was featured on Panarama a few decades ago. I knew those boys, and how they were treated when they came forward. They were from ‘weak’ families so weren’t believed, including single parent families - those with ‘only sisters’ as their parent, who trusted this ministerial servant to take their sons under his wing on camping trips. The congregation itself had at least four other unconvicted people I could think of. It is strange that I never thought of the organisation as covering up abuse - I always thought of rogue elders not following what the society had said, to contact local authorities to deal with the legal side whilst they dealt with the spiritual. But then, I was ‘only a sister’. So... this video was interesting, but because of this, it grated on me, and it actually hurt a lot. Brought back a lot of really bad, hurt memories. I don’t think for a moment Harrison meant this, or is even aware of this side. Perspective is like an elephant, you can only see the part in front of you, and if you are at the front having fun feeding the elephant sweeties and the elephant is having fun eating them, you aren’t at the arse end where you see or experience the results of an upset stomach exploding onto you. Being ‘only a sister’ is like that, especially if you’ve given up a life at a young age for an environment that regards you as less than.

Great question! I also pondered this and came up with these options:
They’ve probably been eyeing off ‘the daughters of men’?
Wrestling men all night before messing them up by ‘touching their hip sockets’?
      Possessing Donkeys Balam style?
Maybe just binging ‘Game of Thrones’?
Any other ideas come to mind?

When I informed my family that I will disassociate and that I no longer believed in the GB an elder family member told me to "stop this foolishness" . Another told me
there is no where else to go for spiritual food. Rather than prove me wrong my family wanted me to stay a JW even if it meant pretending. This is why I believe many JWs are complicit because they know its not the "truth" but are content to close their eyes and stay in the matrix.

I hope you will have him come back to visit your channel from time to time in the future as well, BOTH your X-JW channels bring out so many false disparities that the Watchtower JW Society teaches as all true , when we now know are totally false .

You know, he probably didn't even think about it as deeply as we on the outside would. I say that because I remember my dad talking about his plans to retire. That was about 6 years ago. He's officially going to retire tomorrow. But in the meantime, he is and was still talking about "Armageddon being right around the corner". We see the disconnect, but they don't.

Just listening to Harrison describe the discord between the two households of his parents, reminded me of the double life in the home where I was brought up, there was one image for the Brothers of harmony and the total opposite when the doors were closed of abuse ridicule and anger, this is my first comment after having listened to many interviews. I ran away from a broken abusive supposedly righteous household when I was 17, I’m now 58 and the sad fact is nothing has changed in all those years. They try to indoctrinate into you that everyone in the world are Satan’s people, but it took years for me to understand what it’s like to be in a real family that values you loves you unconditionally and is always there for you no matter what, so the more people that can come forward like you Lloyd and Harrison and tell it for what it is the better Thank you
