According to the Greek Mythology Berenice was a woman that killed herself after she got rejected by a man who was about to be the head of Athens. And at the same time, she was loved by another man who didn't have that much of a 'brilliant future' so she rejected him. I don't know if it fits with the song though.
Firstly, Verenice was "fated" (for political reasons) to marry Ptolemaios but after their engagement her father died and few months later she finally married with Princess of Macedonia, Demetrios. Demetrios cheated her with her mother. Verenice, murdered him in the bedroom and left her mother be alive. After that, married Ptolemaios. The myth says that she loved him a lot but many problems in Egypt, forced him to go to war. Verenice every day and night prayed for his coming. In order to have take care of him the gods, she cut her hair and sworn to die unless Afroditi (goddess of beauty and love) was protecting him and come back soon. After many many days, Ptolemaios came back and suddenly the Verenice's hair were stolen from the temple of Afroditi. Ptolemaios got very angry and he ordered investigation in order to find the thief of his beloved Verenice's hair. That moment, appears Conan from the Samos island and told to Ptolemaios that he shouldn't worry about it because Verenice's hair were stolen from all Gods in order to put them in the sky as stars because of their brightness. (Thats why in nowadays one star system is called "Coma Verenice"). Finally, all were pleased and happy with gods. Verenice and Ptolemaios got many children but one of them died unexpectedly. Finally, after and Ptolemaios death, Verenice was murdered by her son... (That period many political murders happened....) :( Verenice also, appears in Dantes book "the divine comedy". This girl who is pictured at the end ruins the entire video. She does not have the magnetism or presence to encapsulate or capture the image or idea of the Berenice who he is talking about in the song. The girl that is in the video looks like a naïve teenager and the girl he is talking about in the video sound like a versed in life friend and lover who he is pleading his torn guts out to. Sorry, but that element shot the whole video to high Hell. Try again, because I am not impressed.
