Love the Colorado stuff
I can totally relate to slow uphills......
Thanks guys, beautiful footage, wonder if you could put some habanero sauce on items (line locks) outside for porcupines ? Guess you’d need to wear gloves after trying it😀
OMG on the trail not in the basement! Yahoo
can you share trailheads and alltrails? would like to do some of these hikes
My experience with altitude is to stop using caffeine a week or so before the trip and start pounding the water. No booze a couple of nights before the trip. And like other people have said spend a night at altitude.
I miss the Colorado country. Thanks for the views. Great editing too. 👌👀👍
"Salt and heart burn." LOL 😆
andy creates new raw backpacking meals with electrolytes HELLO, SHARKS
Thanks for sharing the journey!
So great to see your video and Bryce's. I think you made a comment on his that your video would be out before his. LOL
well done, certainly looked very challenging
Awesome trip guys! One of these days I'll get to Colorado!
Great video. Couple of tips from Wyoming, we live at 8000 ft. and recommend to any visitors that they give themselves one day at altitude to get use to it. A small boost oxygen helps with altitude sickness, weights nothing. Rescue mosquito clips work great in the rockies..
Agree 100% giving yourself time is such a good idea
Altitude sickness is the real deal. Good to see you push through. Temps are cool at those early hours! Nice way to keep a good attitude despite having struggles!
You're in Colorado,,
Eating the wrong type of cookies,,
Good for altitude sickness,
Your videos are outstanding, man! Getting better year by year
Thanks!
I love you guys BUT that music about halfway thru makes me want to stick a dull screwdriver in my right eye ✌️
I can’t wait to say, “race ya!” Glad you guys got a challenge! But at the CW has the gorgeous mountain payoffs in the end.
Yes it really does
2:42 did not realize Scott had a tattoo
Last summer I did the four pass loop at Maroon Bells. I had no trouble with the elevation even though we only took two days to acclimate. Also went there from Alabama and I live at about 500’. Who knows why it’s easy sometimes and difficult other times. 🤷♂️
Great footage! There's nothing like the Colorado alpine in the morning, our favorite time to be on trail. When are ya'll coming back out?
Next year for sure!
HACE and or HAPE are not anything to joke or think you can push through. Those reading, do some research on it as it can be fatal. Only fix is to tap out.
Good point, you don’t “walk that off” if it gets even close to being serious.
AAS is no joke. I'm quite used to it. Rarely have a problem but this weekend walked up bishop pass (sierras) on Friday in a light rain and then into a cloud - albeit a fairly thin cloud. lost the trail - walked 20 feet ahead to look over the pass, there it is - then back to the trail - never solved the where the hell is the trail problem from 30 seconds prior and proceeded down the same side of the mountain I had just summited. All the way down before I stepped over the same deer bone I had passed over an hour before. Felt great, hiking strong, no headache at all, breathing was only a little elevated at almost 12000....but that slight bit of dizziness I felt when I turned was part of the real slow and in this case really bad decision making - to be clear all of the mountains that would have made things obvious were obscured...but I should have recognized the lakes I just walked from. You forget what you were doing and leave tasks undone and move on to the next while the water is boiling....very subtle. Thus my number one rule for the kit - it HAS to be simple.
I took the oportunity to learn how to find myself with a compass and map....super fun - but very difficult. even though I felt great. Be careful and share these vids - peace
Thanks for sharing! Very good info
I bought some of those pinnacle meals from seeing on your other videos. You should ask them for a discount code to share out. I haven't eaten them yet, waiting for this hot Texas weather to cool down before going on any trips.
Cool video guys! 😎
Thanks!
Looks like a fun but grueling trip. You guys need to hike the high country in Glacier National Park. Those are the best views I've ever witnessed. 🍻
Agree completely
Lol Kevin is such a cream puff
😭😭😹😹
Asprin....I always tell people to take it a few days before you start your hike and continue it for a few days after....it WORKS 99.9% of the time! Good job, as you know, the CT is a legit hike!
Thanks!
I’ve heard so many opinions of the west collegiate being the favorite section. It was very pretty. Ambitious pace, it’s hard to plan and not factor in the time needed to acclimate to that elevation. Good job, loved it.
Thanks!
Nicholas and I are worn out just watching this
Any recommendation on how to properly train for the altitude out there? Our east coast hikes in Smokey’s/Red River Gorge just don’t get us there
Don’t go backpacking the day you land. Spend a day or two in the area acclimating before hiking to higher elevations. Use the oxygen lounge if your hotel has one. Hiking isn’t sufficient cardio prep unless you’re hiking several times a week, consistently. The occasional backpacking trip does little to nothing to your overall conditioning.
@@BacktotheOutdoors thanks for the tips!
Back to outdoors nailed it. Give yourself a few days (if possible) and get in some good cardio!
Crazy. I wasn't even searching for these videos and this one popped up on my page. Ironically, I was in the Collegiate Peaks just two weeks ago and did 27 miles around Mount Yale area, and also got altitude sickness going over Brown's Pass. Even more ironic, is the Mohican shirt in the video, I have the exact one but in blue and live just 1.5 hours away from that trail. Funny. Any chance you guys have the GPS path you took?
Sorry : ( don’t have the gps
will your apology to bryce for making fun of him last time be in written form or will you make a whole video? bahahahaha
You should get a GoPro for walking scenes, it’s hard to watch with all that shaking…sorry!
Nah!
What are the new knee braces? I’m looking for some recommendations
Just some compression knee braces from Amazon nothing special. Years of running and sore knees unfortunately
Thanks for taking us along! Did you guys hit the trail right off the plane? I did that last year but that was section 1. Three weeks from today I'll be starting section 7, but I will be in Breck for two full days before I start. I'll probably drive up to a high trail and do a little hike those 2 days before as well. It'll still be a tough start even if I'm acclimated. Do you guys think I should just do the whole section that first day or stop at the 6ish miles before I get above tree line?
We spent the night outside Denver before starting the trail the following day. Good question, since you will have decent time at elevation you could pull off a longer day
@@SchillBrothersOutdoors Yeah I guess I'll find out at that time. Not in a hurry especially the first few days.
Last question.. I'll definitely have to stop by Endeavor one day after work. I work downtown and take walks by there all the time at lunch. Do you guys have a discount code since you plugged it? Another bad joke by me I know. ;-)
lol !!
The sunburn didn’t look good - maybe consider switching to a wide brimmed hat which are popular in Australia for hiking. Some even have the curtain at the back which is a lot cooler for hiking in hot weather compared to a buff. Perhaps also increase the frequency of sunscreen application. Fabulous video though!
Thanks Annie!
Thanks Guys, Always love it when Sam and Bryce go along. And Bryce did beat you on the posting.
